I had a very disappointing first visit for a cut & color. Apparently my stylist was triple-​booked, so as a result, I waited 25 min to be helped and waited upwards of 45 minutes in the shampoo chair by myself with wet hair feeling completely ignored as I watched him work on two other clients.
On top of that, he messed up the highlights (supposed to be light brown and they were blonde) and had to fix them twice. As he was finishing the styling, I said I like loose waves, but what I got were tight curls and a brassy color — not cute. Everyone kept saying how great it looked to make me feel better, but I think they were trying to save face.
When I went to pay for it, I explained my poor experience and asked if there was anything they could do to remedy the situation. The stylist came over and said that he stands by his work and won’t come down on price. I think they totally lost the notion of customer service. I spent $ 147 and 3 ½ hours of my time there. In my opinion, for that much money I expect to be treated with more attention, and it should never take more than 2 hours. I expected they would do SOMETHING to make up for this considering it was a horrible first visit, but they said they gave me a complimentary hair mask treatment to make up for it.
I won’t be returning and suggest you look elsewhere too.

I had the best experience. I came to MI for a family event and had to be beautified quickly and efficiently. I was really surprised with the skills and taste of Jena P. She did in amazing job! I don’t think my hair ever looked so good. I was ready to move to Michigan just so she could be my stylist :)

I’ve always had the struggle of finding a hair stylist who can live up to my expectations and satisfaction in styling, trimming or coloring my hair.
I began my journey with 6 Salon at their Birmingham location where I was scheduled for a ‘trim’ with Mirdzia (Albanian woman). We instantly hit it off conversating, her assistant washed my hair/​prepped me for the trim and Mirdza listened to my concerns and requests — and assured me I will be ecstatic with the end results! Sure enough, my trim turned out amazing as she added her touch in giving a face frame to enhance my facial features.
As she was trimming my hair she had just finished an ombré hair dye of one of her client’s and i was taken back by her work — this woman is pure talent a true asset to 6 Salon! I was amazed and asked her next time of availability to get my hair ombred! She managed to squeeze me in that same day and in as little as 2 hours — i had my first ombré!
I have had so many compliments on my hair and I was so reluctant to dye my hair at first –as I’ve never dyed my hair before! However, witnessing Mirzdas work first hand and in person — I knew I couldn’t go wrong with her. I will never let anyone else touch my hair except for the staff at Salon 6!
4 Stars because they are pricey — $ 65 for a trim and blow out! However, they are worth every single penny!

Saw Shellee for a Brazilian bikini wax today. Obviously, these waxes aren’t necessarily the most comfortable and pleasant experiences, but Shellee really was incredible. Her friendly personality made me feel completely comfortable as a new client who was getting waxed by a stranger with no idea of what kind of a job she did. She also made the waxing experience the best possible — she did an amazing job and with very little pain! She was careful to use wax that wouldn’t burn or hurt my incredibly sensitive skin, as well as use different wax for different kinds of hair that would make the process as smooth as possible. Plus, she was sure to explain recommendations for aftercare and follow up. As much as I hate Brazilians, Shellee makes me want to continue to go back and see her on a regular basis.

I called about a hour and 20 mins before they were about to close and they were able to get me in. The staff was very friendly and it was an amazing experience since I’ve never been here before. The receptionist was very nice. I had Kayla and she did a phenomenal job and really worked hard and did a amazing job. I’ve never been so satisfied with the results, as I will be coming again and requesting Kayla again. It’s ambiance like no other, and it’s truly worth the money.

I have been going to this salon for over 6 months and so far only person that I would let touch my hair is boriana rexha she’s the best at what she does.

My stylist is Colleen. I went to her because she came recommended for color transformation. My dark brown hair had turned to black because I colored it myself too often, being unable to just to the roots. Colleen was able to remove the black color and after several months of keeping it safe with a more medium shade, I now have the dark brown that I like. Colleen is great cutting my hair as well. The salon is expensive but with those results, I will not compromise.

I love 6 salon. I have been getting my hair done with Boriana for as long as I can remember. Choosing a hairstylist is no easy feat, but I’m so lucky I chose her. She is the only person I will ever trust with my hair. She does not only do a fabulous job, she works miracles. Boriana really listens to your wants and delivers the «wow» factor in the final product that will have people complimenting you right and left (and it will have you pausing and admiring your reflection everywhere you go) :) if you go in with a photo of the look you want, you can bet you’ll walk out with that exact hair. Whether it’s a trim, a cut, a new color, extensions, highlights, you name it, if you want to look amazing, ask for Bora.

Beware. The reception staff can be a nightmare. Do not expect your appointment to start on time, the reception staff will make you feel very un-​welcome while you wait, and don’t count on them getting your appointment correct. For example, say you booked with one stylist, they might switch you to another stylist who does not have enough time for your service, or does not now how to perform the same service. And no apologies or compensation for the hour that you waited for them to get your appointment wrong. This is not even a one time occurrence. I went to Six Salon for over a year because I liked the results, but after repeatedly being treated this way at the reception desk, I finally decided that it was not worth my time to return. No customer appreciation for repeat customers. Literally messed up my appointment like 6 – 8 times.

Trusting someone with your hair cut and color is never an easy task; but since I’ve met Peter, he’s allowed me to push my fears aside. His talent, personality and professionalism are first class. He cut, colored and styled my hair for my engagement pictures, bachelorette party and traveled on site for my wedding, transforming my hair (my whole bridal party) into a true work of art. Peter is amazing… Simply the best!

This place is amazing! The service is great and the people. My hair stylist was Kevin and he was phenomenal… Literally the best stylist ever! I have been having trouble with my hair because it has been so bad. he gave me a cut that would make me look good to go with my chubby face. I am definitely coming again. Recommend Kevin !!! He’s amazing.

Mandi zink she is truly amazing, every time I go to her I get complement for one month from people I k ow and random people … give her a try and you will truly love it …

If I could, I would not give this place any star. I dropped by the 6 Salon recently to get a hair cut because it has great reviews on Unilocal I was able to get a same-​day appointment pretty easily, and that was where anything nice about this place ended. A girl escorted me to a chair without introducing herself, and being the first– time customer here, I assumed it was the hair stylist that I had the appointment with, so I started describing what I was looking for. She then promptly cut me off and pointed to the stylist next to us, who was still with another client. It turns out, that was the stylist that I had the appointment with. She stopped working with that client and started talking to me (I felt bad because I didn’t want to use up another client’s time). Afterwards, the girl took me to the back to shampoo my hair. It was the most awkward experience. I felt like I owed her money. When she finished, she asked if she could bring me anything to drink. I think she only asked because she had to because she never brought me anything. Then came the stylist. Another Unilocal reviewer had a similar negative experience with this stylist. I should have trusted that review. I have NEVER, EVER had anyone yank on my hair so hard and brush my hair so hard. I have very straight and tangle-​free hair, so all that barbaric mishandling of my hair (or anyone’s hair) was unnecessary. I felt like the stylist was taking her anger out at me. I tried to make some small talk during the haircut because otherwise it would be just awkward silence by asking her how many stylists worked at the 6, and she tersely said «A lot.» That was the extent of our entire conversation. Then came the blow-​dry part. Oh my gosh. She BURNED my scalp with the hair dryer not once but multiple times. Have you ever been burned by a professional hair dryer? I’m not talking about someone holding the nozzle against your hair for too long but actually touching the hot nozzle against your scalp. You would think that after the first time, she would be more careful. No! She also managed to poke my eyes twice. This is after I’ve told her to please be careful. I had cold sweats running down my back because I was so scared I would get burned or poked again. Also, even though I look young, I didn’t need her to «honey» me and talk to me so condescendingly. When she finished, she had the nerve to ask me if I wanted to buy any of the products she used. Does she not have any self awareness of how rude she had been this entire time? At the end when I checked out, the girl at the front desk really sealed the deal for me – When I asked if I could put the tip on the credit card (What was I thinking? Why should I tip for such horrible service? Maybe it was because that stylist was lurking around the front desk, so I felt obligated? I shouldn’t have caved in to the peer pressure) she rudely asked me if it was my first time at the salon, when I said yes, she rolled her eyes and said she would do me a favor this time only but otherwise they would only take cash for tips. Don’t worry. This would be my first time and last time here. I have no idea how this place claims to have won so many awards. I usually only write positive reviews on Unilocal,but this experience was seared into my memory, and I do not want another person to have to go through the terror that I had to go through. If you have a favorite person that you go to at the 6 already, stick with that person. If you are thinking about coming to this salon, please look through all the Unilocal reviews and consider carefully.

I’m very picky about where and who I go to when it comes to my hair. I’ve tried it all. And I’ve gone auburn red to bright blonde… But somehow I still leave the hair salon unsatisfied and disappointed. Not this time! I went to Mandi for a subtle balayage and a trim. I will definitely be going back to her. She knew exactly what I wanted and did nothing more and nothing less. It was perfect. I’m thinking about going lighter for summer now that I trust someone with coloring.

Mona is fantastic! One of the best blow outs I’ve ever received. Five stars. I have thicker hair and she did AMAZING!
Front desk is not friendly, disorganized and made me wait while one of the girls was having a person conversation on the salon phone. The same salon phone I am constantly waiting on when I phone to schedule appointment. Royal Oak’s front desk team is a lot more prompt/​friendly.

Boriana has been my Stylist for over 9 years. Her most recent work of art includes transforming my naturally blonde hair with extensions to a beautiful shade of cool red, also with extensions. She took the necessary steps to not only make sure that my color transformation looked great from root to tip (including perfectly matching the extension color and texture to my hair), but also that my color would last with little fading. This is a tough task when you have light hair. I receive compliments on my hair daily. Bora only recommends necessary services that will enhance and maintain my style. I continually refer clients to her as she is the best in the business.

Carol is fantastic! I got cut and highlights and I think it is the best color I have ever had. I have had at least 10 people complement me on the cut and color. I strongly recommend her to anyone. I plan to keep going back.

I have gone to John W for the last 3 years now and he is by far the best. I just flew back home from Phoenix for the holidays and he came in on his day off just to color and cut my hair. He works miracles and is absolutely amazing! I would fly home just to get my hair done by him.

Went to this place for the first time a year ago, and left without loving my hairstyle/​color.
Decided to give it another try and I’m so glad I did! After some research online, I chose Peter as my stylist this time around. I came into the salon not knowing exactly what color or cut I wanted (the only thing I knew is that I wanted to try side bangs). He chose the perfect fall color for me (darker brown than my natural color with a slight hint of red to warm it up a bit) and did an amazing job on my bangs/​cut. I received many compliments today at the office, saying my new do was very «chic» and «sharp»!
Id recommend 6 salon and Peter to anyone looking for a fresh cut/​color!
