Nothing bad to say… As I’m a regular :) It’s one of those place where you walk in, pick up your food, get in your car, sit in front of a tv and eat. I rarely eat there. Prices are reasonable. Not all the dishes are what I call value meals. Salads are good(dressings I should say, as how can you mess up) and that’s pretty much what I get. Otherwise, it’s simple food. Sandwiches I had are literally bread and your choice of meat. Sides are Okay to good pending what you decide. Fruit cup sides are real hit or miss. I had my shares of bad fruits. Also several times my orders were missing things. Some might see this and how can you give 4 stars. Well, again, I’m a regular. Unexplainable spell makes me over see flaws and I continue to go there. Mainly I think because I just walk in, pick up, drive home, and sit and watch a show after a busy day. And being near my house :)

This place is now one of my all time favorites for lunch time! Whenever you walk in, it ambiance is amazing! The clean lines of the subway tile against the back wall definitely makes you feel like you are in a clean and well kept place. They have an assortment of different menu options! Salads, sandwiches, and soups galore! I personally go for the chicken salad and pimento cheese! I have never liked either one of those, until I tried Ashley Mac’s! Seriously, it’s amazing!!! For dessert I would definitely recommend one of their mini strawberry cupcakes! They have the perfect combination of cake and icing and they are so moist!!! The only complaint I would have, is that I feel like they are a little pricey for chicken salad and pimento cheese! They are pretty competitive with places like Chicken Salad Chick. Will definitely keep returning! :)

This place is out of this world! Today was the first time I’ve ordered from here, so this is just based on one to-go order, but it was so good I thought I would leave a review. First of all, this was easily the best chicken salad I’ve ever had and the baby blue salad was outstanding. Their portions are very generous and even the salad was loaded with fruit, sugared almonds and of course, blue cheese. I will say I was not wild about their spicy pimento cheese, but everything else was so good, I dismissed it. I definitely want to try their other menu items and can’t wait to get back to this place!

The chicken salad was tasty and the service was excellent! I was greeted promptly and with a smile. The café is really cute! Great job Ashley Mac.

Both me and my children love this place. I’ve never left a review for anywhere else, but I am compelled to do so tonight because the staff here really went above and beyond. They apparently recently changed their hours to close a little earlier at 8:30, but the phone message and internet still said 9. I had a craving for their sour cream biscuits(DELICIOUS, By the way!) around 8:15 pm and rushed over from Irondale. I got there around 8:40, saw the sign, and found the door locked. I was brokenhearted and so was my 3 year old, who promptly started crying. However… Then she found the open exit door and ran in jabbering excitedly! I apologized to the staff and explained I had driven from irondale for their biscuits after seeing the hours online. They were so sweet! Even though they had shut down, they gave me a container of their biscuits since I had come all that way and they didn’t want me to leave empty handed, especially since my little girl was so excited. It had been a rough day, and the staff there really made my whole night. I would give more stars if I could. Oh, and by the way, their food is amazing as well, and reasonably priced. Great at any time of the day! :)

I am so excited for my neighborhood Cahaba Heights location to be reopened… supposedly happening this Spring 2015! It’s been months since I had an Ashley Mac fix, so I made the trip down 280 that may hold me over until CH is back up and running. I haven’t branched out because I love ordering the salad trio. I always get the spicy pimiento cheese, chicken salad, and baby bleu salad. It hits the spot and sometimes I’m able to bring leftovers home! Not often, but sometimes… My friend ordered a sandwich. Unfortunately I can’t remember which one, but with this being her first trip to Ashley Mac’s, she left saying, «I can’t wait to bring my husband here!» It’s definitely a ladies lunching restaurant, BUT the food is too good for that excuse to keep men from coming in. On our visit, I saw a dad with his young daughter and a couple groups of business lunches that included men. I’m glad they’re not discouraged from coming in. My friend took a mini sampler of cupcakes to work and said that she enjoyed the vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry flavors. I brought home a couple of the strawberry cupcakes for my husband and I to have. So many people only know of AM’s because of the cupcakes… but I think I’m going to stick with my salad trio. I’m still more impressed with the strawberry cake from another Birmingham bakery… On a side note, someone did bring me the chicken poppyseed take home meal after I had my son. It was ok… but I’m not as interested in their take home meals. Maybe there will be point later in mommyhood that I’ll return to try AM’s take home meals.

The pick two is a great option to get a great salad and the delicious chicken salad sandwich on a croissant. This place has great pellet ice that makes the sweet tea even better. This place is a sweet place to grab lunch with a friend.

As of now, Ashley Mac’s has the best chicken salad and strawberry cake in town. If you have a big appetite or a small one you can meet your needs here with plenty of choices and specials. Don’t want to cook? Pick up a casserole, soup, chicken salad or pimento cheese from the cooler. You’ll find desserts there also. Bonus of eating here: it smells good! All that baking going on!

So friendly! Ask for Hailey — she was super nice. They make very good sandwiches to go or to dine in the store. I’ve only gotten to go items so I can only comment on that service. I have taken home a variety from the freezer department and so far my repeats would be the broccoli salad, any cake or cupcake and the sandwich. Some of the other frozen foods are wonderful in a pinch and nothing wrong with them just not want I want.

Excellent lunch spot right off 280! I have been here several times, and it is always a pleasant, tasty experience. Everyone who works here is very friendly and helpful. If something isn’t right(ex: a dirty table), they have been quick to apologize and fix it. I have tried several of the menu items and haven’t been disappointed. My favorites are the pimento cheese, Baby Blue salad, and broccoli slaw. There is something for almost everyone, and the portions are good. The staff is helpful if you want to mix and match different items. The biggest downsides: the staff tend to be a bit chatty with each other and the drink machine often gets backed up(often running out of tea) — but nothing too major. There’s also a great case of pre-made items that I’ve heard are delicious.

Well I would have enjoyed trying something from the Valleydale location, but unfortunately the clerk(s) were having a private convo about ankle weights at the gym, and were too busy to assist me. Negative 5 stars. Sorry. Fail.

Ok I only had cupcakes but they were delicious! My cousin told me that several people told her their strawberry cake was great.(I’ve only had strawberry cake from E%$#r’s.) Anyhow so we went in just to get cake. First off, the style of the shop is so Vera Bradley-esque. We had already eaten lunch elsewhere.(I didn’t know they weren’t just a bakery but a café.) Anyhow, I got a trio of cupcakes out of the fridge– one in each variety offered. THEYWEREAWESOME!!! I am always leery of baked goods from a fridge or freeze because that screams not fresh to me. However, these jewels were quite a pleasant surprise. I have tried like everybody’s cupcakes. These by far are the best. Yes, the gourmet cupcakes with liquor names or rich fillings are nice, but they don’t always go over well. Ashley Mac’s offering were not decadent or a hodgepodge melting pot of flavors. They were simply well executed. The cake was moist — stick to the liner moist. I can’t remember the last time I had a moist piece of chocolate cake(My friend’s wedding– they’re expecting 2nd child). The strawberry cake reminded me of a muffin as it was not overtly sweet and the frosting imitated strawberry ice cream.(I may prefer the cream cheesyness of E%$#r’s) I will definitely be going back to try their entrees because I have no doubt they’ll be equally well done.

Really good place for a casual lunch. It definitely has a rather«chick», «ladies who lunch«vibe. Tasty salads and sandwiches, with a nice selection of homemade desserts. I gave it 4 stars due to the use of paper plates and plastic utensils… they don’t seem congruent with everything else. The crowning achievement of Ashley Mac’s for me, however, is their extensive freezer section, featuring a multitude of take home delights– from Chicken Casserole to Shrimp and Grits. It’s super convenient to go ahead and grab dinner for you and hubby after you enjoyed your chicken salad croissant lunch with your tennis partner. It also serves as the perfect back up– when you need to deliver dinner to a «friend in need», but don’t have the time to don your chef’s hat. You can pick up everything from soups and salads to entrée’s and side dishes. Cap it off with a couple of slices of homemade strawberry cake, and your status as BFF will be secure!

I love it here! Having lived in the area for a while, it’s so refreshing to have another lunch choice. THey have such a great variety and your food is made to order! The ingredients have always been really fresh and great quality. This is a great spot to meet up with friends. I love the outdoor seating and wish spring would get here! They also have a fantastic selection of frozen casseroles that I can take home and keep on hand. Everything is made by hand at the Cahaba Heights location and is fantastic. My favorite is the Spanish and Chicken lasagna. They’ve also added a vegetarian and gluten free option with the Eggplant parm. While it’s not a gluten free kitchen, many of the items are gluten free! Delicious! Also, if you’re looking for a good sandwich try the chicken salad or the turkey and spanish aoil.
