The bagels and food are good, maybe not New York Bagel, but that’s a taste thing. This is written after probably 20 visits, but it feels, like other people have said, that they could care less you are there. Today my bagels were thrown in a bag, tossed to the cashier, no remote smile, no thank you, more like disgust And they also, and maybe silly, line up a ton of empty bags on the counter so you can’t see anyone who is not tall. I feel bad, but after again probably a weekly visit for the last six months, I’d rather go somewhere I don’t feel like I am bothering them.

Their bagels are the best bagels I’ve had. Better than New York bagel, Einstein’s or panera. The service is pretty good, but like some of the other reviewers have pointed out and I have to agree, that the workers seem a little disgruntled. They have a self serve coffee station with nice flavor options and I’ve never experienced the pots being empty or not hot enough. I always over the poppyseed bagel and they really go heavy on the poppyseeds. My advice is to pay with cash because there is a $ 5 minimum to use a credit card.

Awful customer service! There was an older woman working there that has made me decide to never return and to warn others from going here. I went in last weekend and ordered a simple bagel sandwich. I asked for only one egg. She aggressively responded that«it only comes with one egg!» Sorry I didn’t know that since it was only my second time there… She was miserable, angry and aggressive to me and everyone else in line. I can’t imaging why any owner or manager would let her talk to their customers the way she did but, after reading other reviews, I guess customer service isn’t important to them.

Went to Detroit Bagel factory today at 1:30pm today. Store hours say open until 2pm on Sundays. Door was locked so I banged on the door. Three employees look at me and turn away. Knocked again and finally a kid with a mop opens the door and says they don’t have any more bagels. Really?!? On a Sunday. That’s why you make more! Hopped in car and went to New York Bagel where the bagels are THEBEST. Should have made my usual trip down to Ferndale in the first place.

Girlfriend called ahead to ask if they were open at 3:00pm on a Friday. They said yes, open until 4:00pm. I drive there to get her order. First thing said to me was«Uhhh, we’re pretty much closed up right now.» Shelves were empty and bagels were bagged up. This was at 3:15pm. Then, an older man who I assumed to be the owner or franchisee, asked me what I wanted and said he could help me. Told him I want an onion bagel sandwich, toasted. He starts pointing me to the bagged up old bagels swearing to me they’re fresh. Don’t have time for this, dude. It’s Friday. As I’m walking out the door he looks at me and says«call ahead next time.» Avoid this place, it’s clear the manager does not hold his employees to even basic standards of staying open until the advertised closing time. What other basic standards is he not enforcing? Cleanliness? Food safety? Who cares though. I’ll never be back.

DONOTGOHERE. Staff is rude and when they mess up your order they argue with you… For example I ordered an egg w/cheddar cheese on an everything bagel, when I opened my sandwich it had a small squared of American cheese inside the egg(which wasn’t even visible until the employee opened the sandwich). When I brought it back I was argued with, and told by the employee that she had been here many years and«didn’t even know who I was» RUDE. who says to their customers that… Will not be returning. Subpar bagels, terrible coffee, and HORRIBLECUSTOMERSERVICE.

Best Bagels in town or state. Try their lox they are really good. I buy the bagels, lox and lox cream cheese and add all the capers and stuff at home. Wonderful. I use to buy my lox at Papa Joes, but these are better! Yummy

I’v been searching for a good bagel place since I moved to the area and used to drive up to the Bruegger’s on Woodward and Long Lake since I can’t stand Einstein’s…but I love that I found this spot much closer to home! The bagels are perfect and chewy on the inside and toasty on the outside. Looking forward to trying all the different varieties. They even have fountain coke :) My husband has stopped by here for lunch and he said the bagel sandwiches are great too.

Best bagel in the area. Love the salt, everything, all of them with chive crème cheese. Can’t wait to try the new ice cream they are carrying.

I used to be a die-hard NY Bagel fan, but I honestly like these bagels better. Don’t get me wrong — when it comes to quality and consistency The BF and NYB are neck & neck. But the BF bagels are just a bit more tender/soft, which I like. They also have a few different varieties of flavors that NYB doesn’t have. My only reason for 4 stars vs 5 is that the employees are never *that* nice or happy to see me(or anyone).

Some of the best bagels in town! In fact, I love out of state and this blows any bagel shop in Massachusetts out of the water. Highly recommended.

I just visited for the first time in a long time and was thrilled. The bagel breakfast sandwiches I had were excellent, much better than Einstein and a better value too. I had a turkey Swiss and egg white on 9 grain bagel. The turkey I swear was home roasted breast and sliced, cause it tasted and had the texture of the real thing rather than cheap pre packaged lunch meat. The egg white was prepared fresh. This was $ 4.75 w the egg white… a deal. The other was a standard lox w cream cheese, Tomato and onion. The lox was great, not too salty, while they also had light chive cream cheese and added capers. $ 5.95…$ 3 less than Einstein and much better. The service was great and I look forward to trying their other sandwiches and whitefish salad too. I’m a tough foodie to please, and I’ve got to tell you that both of the items I had were almost Zingerman’s good… at half the price of that noted establishment. Very impressive.

New ownership. I gave the«old» Bagel Café 5 stars cause it was awesome. The new one? Not so much. Gone are the awesome breakfast sandwiches and treats(Dream bars!!! Where are you?!) and now its more of a bagel/sandwich place. Good, if that is what you are looking for. SHould have changed the name to avoid confusion and not let people come thinking it was the same old place :(

I miss Barry Bagels in Ann Arbor(they are originally from the Toledo area) and was very excited to find that the Bagel Factory Bagels compete nicely with their style! I read how some reviews mention that the guy working here is borderline rude and I agreed at first, but once I started talking about bagels with him, he warmed up a bit and shared my enthusiasm for a properly made bagel(sorry for making fun of your un-boiled bagels Einstein Bagels, but they are just not as good!) Get the Fragel if you are into deep fried, if not, enjoy the asiago and sesame bagels. Accepts Credit cards over $ 5.

I’m always looking for a good new bagel place. I’m picky and prefer an authentic new york style bagel, harder outer and soft center. The reviews on this place were great, so i had high hopes. Went there on a afternoon a few days ago. Got a bagel with cream cheese. The kid/guy that was working there was short and bordering on rude. I felt rushed and just ordered something quick to get out of there. The bagel itself was ok, a little more cake-like than I like. Don’t think i’ll be back. Just head a few miles south to New York bagel. Still my favorite around. Ah, well.

As bagel places go, this place makes some pretty awesome bagels.(especially Everything ones) My husband has lived all over the country and makes it his mission to track down the best bagels. Here, in our hometown, this is the only place we’ll go to get bagels and the ever important bagel sandwich in the morning. The quality of the bagels far outweighs the ok service or their TERRIBLE muffins. Only eat the bagels here(bagels, cream cheese and bagel sandwiches are ok variations of my ONLYEATBAGELS rule).

Throughout Detroit there are several worthy bakeries that make homemade bread daily. Many of these places are fantastic, but one that sticks out for their Banana Bread is Bagel Factory Café. Jackie and Ray, owners, has a special recipe and makes her Banana Bread daily. You can get either a tiny little loaf, made for a sitting, or a medium size loaf, more for a couple of days. The bread is very moist, packed with spices that make you salivate just when you open the bag. When the smell hits you, good luck trying to save any of the bread for later. Usually it’s gone that day. Jackie is known for her Banana Bread and now sells them at various farmers markets as well. If you’re on this side of town, definitely pick up some.

I go out of my way to get my morning bagel sandwich here! It is family owned and the family is always there to make your bagel sandwich from scratch. They actually make real eggs. It is like you made it at home. Sometimes you have to wait a little longer but it is worth it. Recently I discovered they are selling homemade cookies. I enjoyed a chocolate chip yesterday. It tasted better than what an original Marty’s cookies used to taste like. YUMMY

This franchise is just as good as the one on 12 mile, except no Marty’s Cookies! These two branches have one thing the Troy Bagel Factory does not: Fragels! What’s a Fragel you ask? It’s a cinnamon raisin bagel that is deep fried then quickly doused in cinnamon sugar. It is best served piping hot. It taste like a crunchy, but soft on the inside doughnut. There used to be a Fragel Bagel in Lansing, but it closed ages ago. I also like the young folks who work at this one. They told me their Grandma owns it. She makes them wear chef’s hats as part of their uniform. My heart goes out to them. At least it’s better than a giant pirate’s hat like in Fast Times at Ridgemont High.
