Enterprise Rent-A-Car

I knew I’d be in a hurry to make a meeting after dropping my vehicle off for repairs, so I had my secretary call this Enterprise location to reserve an SUV an hour ahead of time this morning, since we’ve rented from them (at this and other locations) at least 20 times in the past few years. Ever heard the Enterprise ad that says «We’ll pick you up.»? Well don’t count on it. They didn’t have anyone available to pick me up a less than a mile away, so I had to ask someone from the repair shop to bring me. When I arrived and presented my company’s debit card for payment, the woman at the desk informed me that I would need at least 2 other forms of personal ID (who carries their utility bills around?) without an actual credit card. I was frustrated but called my secretary to help me gather the needed docs to complete the rental. While on that call, I asked my secretary to try and find a car rental company which doesn’t require so much because it is a «pain in the ass». I was neither facing nor speaking to the agent at the desk, but heard her say loudly that «I’m sure Budget around the corner will be happy to deal with your debit card». Caught off guard, I turned to ask more about the requested documents but then processed what she had said. Incredulous, I stopped before finishing my question and instead asked, «Wait, are you kicking me out of here right now?» She responded that yes, she was because I was cursing at her! As it happens I have an app on my phone which records both sides of all my phone calls (CallX, free in the Play store) and I listened to it again to verify my memory. Yep, she kicked me out for saying the word «ass» in a phone conversation with my secretary. So I left and had the guy from the shop drive me to Budget, as my friend at Enterprise advised, and she was right! They treated me politely and handled the rental quickly, efficiently and for less money I got a much nicer Grand Cherokee than the car Enterprise reserved for me. So all in all, I’d say she did me a favor. Neither I nor any of my employees will ever rent from Enterprise again, surely saving us time, money and frustration. But if I were that agent’s employer, she would be unemployed tomorrow.
