I initially liked this salon, but was really turned off by my last visit. She was 30 minutes late getting started, and was doing 3 other peoples hair at the same time. It took me 3.5 hours to get out of there. Not worth what it costs.

I tired really, really hard to find a good salon in Birmingham. But I still picked the wrong one. I think I should also mention, in the interest of full disclosure, that I haven’t had a haircut that cost less than two or three times what this one did in years. I also share some culpability in this as I ignored warning signs, somehow got to the car without looking at it, and then didn’t demand that my hair be fixed. I probably should have noticed that the hairdresser didn’t have a diffuser or any products for styling non-straight hair. When she asked«What? What kind of cut is THIS?»(noted curly salon Fiddleheads in DC did an awesome job) that really probably should have given me pause. But no. Now, my hair flips and sticks out all funny when it is wavy/curly, and when it’s straight(er) you can see the layers. I asked her to cut it 2 or 3 inches shorter, but she didn’t listen or ask questions about what I wanted, so it’s almost the same length, brushing against my shoulders. I should have looked at it before I got to the car, obviously, but she didn’t show me(wonder why?) and just started talking to some girl about her color. I was a little startled that she just moved on so abruptly and I even had to interrupt her just to get her name so I could write her a check. Ignore the tons of good reviews on another site. I won’t be back.
