It was incredibly clear that this location was having a seriously BAD day. However, now reading other reviews, it seems like that kind of bad day is pretty common here… Like others, the boyfriend and I had a little time to kill before a flight and wanted a full stomach. No one was at the hostess stand, so we ended up seating ourselves, but when a server came over, she asked us to move to front area of the restaurant. She said it was because she was leaving soon, so just one person would be working, and they would close the back section. Ok, well, tables had not been bused and some jerk had his luggage blocking one of the only clean tables, so ended up at a teeny tiny high top table. The other waitress couldn’t tell the boyfriend about how many ribs were in a one pound portion — we get that it’s by weight, but are we looking at two ribs, five, a slab? No help at all. Our food took quite a while to come out — keep in mind, these are assembly items, just put the food on a plate — and when it it did… yuck. My salad was missing at least two listed ingredients and had a small portion of pulled pork just dumped on top(I found a piece of cartilage in it, which does not belong in pulled pork!). I also needed way more ranch than the one little ramekin they gave me, but I wasn’t about to push my luck by asking for it. The boyfriend, however, fared much worse. They gave him fries instead of coleslaw, and when they brought the coleslaw on a little plate, there was of course no room for it on the table. His ribs had portions that were completely overdone and barely edible, the cartilage was dead white(wildly underdone), and several entire ribs were just… rubbery. Through all this time, we were given exactly one refill of iced tea, which they charge $ 2.59 for. And it occurs to me that we never received any cheesy muffins, which were the highlight of my last Jim ‘N Nick’s experience. When I told the waitress, she said she’d send the manager out. Manager? Manager? Why wasn’t this manager helping out in the severely understaffed dining room? We were first given a much-discounted check, down to $ 17 from $ 41, which I can about live with. The manager finally appeared and told me that he was running the to-go window, but that they were(obviously) understaffed and that they had not received their supply deliveries. So I didn’t get tomatoes on my salad because they didn’t have any. Supposedly the server was supposed to have told me that… ha. The only good news in this disaster is that they didn’t argue with me about reducing the check, since they clearly knew it was a train wreck. However, they honestly would have been better off just closing the restaurant — being right after the TSA checkpoint, many people tried to come in, looked confused, and we heard one table tell another that it had taken them an hour to get nachos. Seriously, just put yourselves and your customers out of their misery.

Although the food is good, you’ll spend too much of your valuable time waiting for it. This is the main reason I’m giving this location only 2 stars. The cashier was confused about the order which was a mild delay to start things off. Then, she gave me the wrong drink. Didn’t matter though. She had almost 20 minutes to get the drink right. That’s how long my husband and I had to wait for our biscuits. It wasn’t a long line. In fact, we were the 2nd guests at the time. Almost TWENTYMINUTES for a breakfast biscuit during breakfast in an airport is ridiculous.

Menu was quite limited, they were out of a lot… my potatoe was fresh and hot. Biscuits were great as usual! Staff was friendly!

Meh — that’s all I can say. It’s a restaurant in an airport, so it was decent given that status. Service was slow, server dropped half my cocktail on my lap — yet didn’t offer to refill or buy it. Food was OK.

Stood at the hostess stand and waited while I was ignored as the hostess checked her social media. I asked if I could sit at the bar, and was dismissed saying that they’re all full. I pointed to the empty chair at the bar and they relented. I sat at the bar unapproached for 5 – 6 minutes, and was finally able to order. They only had two beers left on draft, they were out of mashed potatoes, and the bbq plate was lukewarm. The woman next to me had a choice for her wine vessel: styrofoam cup or snifter. I ordered a Good People pale ale and just got the can, having to ask for a glass. My food was given to me with no silverware. The bartender was openly expressing how happy she was that she was off in 30 more minutes. Is this place managed by high school kids?

Worst Jim and Nicks ever!!! I love the other locations so much i couldn’t have imagined how horrible this one could be! Rude rude server, acted like she was doing me a favor by waiting on me. Food was terrible, drink was terrible. Found a large chunk of cartilage and bone in my chicken and the response was that just happens sometimes… Hmm has never happened at any of the other locations! JUST terrible. Spend your hard earned money elsewhere. Also, side note: the managers excuse for my server being rude was that she is pregnant, sorry but I work with many pregnant nurses that manage to SOMEHOW not only be decent, they are awesome and do their job well. So no excuse there…

I was here for a long lay over. It was early morning so I decided to have a Bloody Mary. It was fantastic until I started looking around. Small maggot flies everywhere. When the bartender was making drinks they were swarming her. She did nothing about it! Very nasty. Started thinking the clumps in my Bloody Mary were not tomatoe or lemon. Ewe. Anyway, I decided to eat. The food here is good. No complaints except it could have been hotter. I was swatting the gnats? Away with my menu. Finally a manager saw me swatting bugs. She came and cleaned the bar water and sprayed something to make them go away. There were that many. Why didn’t the bar tender take care of the nasty«dip your bar glass in water to clean basin and fruit for drinks tray» and take care of the nasty flies herself? It was gross and I almost didn’t eat here because of it. I’m glad I did eat. It was good. Little pricy but when it’s the only sit down area you make sacrifices. I’ll come back but not too sure if I will drink another Bloody Mary. Only clear drinks here!

After having the Jim N Nicks that wasn’t in the airport, I was disappointed with the prices. Everything was higher, and the food wasn’t nearly as good. My server was pleasant, but I regret not trying out another restaurant. I thought that it was going to be on par with the other locations. It wasn’t. My mac and cheese was ok; the bread was hot; the salad wasn’t as fresh. If this is your first time at a Jim N Nick’s then it would be good, but if you have eaten at another location, go somewhere else and save yourself the disappointment.

I like Jim N’ Nicks and if it were any other branch, I’d 4 – 5 star it, but beware. Everything at the airport is served with a serious side of sass and ample portions of attitude. It’s not often that there’s a place that I consistently leave poor tips.

I had to stay at the airport for a few hours, and I squatted in this place while waiting for my flight. The waitresses were nice, even though I sat there for awhile and kept randomly ordering food! Several of their tables have outlets, and I managed to snag one. I ordered a side of mac & cheese– small, but delicious!- as well as a side of onion rings(which were messy to eat, but tasty). I also tried to order two other things, but they were out of the deviled eggs and chicken fingers. Instead, I asked if I could try one cheese biscuit(they usually only sell in groups of 6 and 12) and my waitress managed to snag one for me. I also ordered the old fashioned– wasn’t made quite right, but good enough(and strong enough) for me to be content. All-in-all, I spent about $ 20. Overall, a good airport pit stop. I’d work here again if stuck in the Birmingham airport. The waitresses were friendly, they had some outlets for travelers, and the food was pretty tasty.

Had BBQ pulled pork takeout. Food came in 10 minutes. Sandwich was fantastic. Pork was nice and tender, great sauce. Make sure you get extra BBQ sauce to go. Baked beans were good, sweet but tasted great with hot sauce mixed in. They have a TOGO window which is nice but it was closed? The place was packed so I can’t say anything about dine in wait, but if you are in a hurry stick to sandwichs they are always fast.

Possibly the worst margarita I’ve ever had. They make their own sour mix, which is cool — I like it when restaurants do that, BUT, this was SO sour it was undrinkable. I passed my margarita around to the others at my table to make sure it wasn’t just me. First, none of us could sense that there was any actual tequila in it. Second, it was so sour it tasted like pure lemon and lime juice — really strange. The bbq chicken I got was pretty good, even though it was slightly undercooked — which is not a good idea. The mac and cheese was great, the pork and beans — eh. The waitress was great. The main 2 girls standing at the host stand were… not having a good day? Or maybe just not really big into customer service. Overall, I won’t be back, unless I’m just desperately starving.

Airport food that’s decent, over priced, with very unfriendly staff. Wouldn’t waste my money here again.

Surprisingly good for an airport restaurant. The prices aren’t cheap(expected at an airport) but the portions and quality were really a good value, overall. My server was pleasant and efficient. I’d definitely recommend this place if eating at the Birmingham airport.

When stuck at an airport in Birmingham, what do you do? Seek out good BBQ of course. My coworkers and I luckily had a Jim ‘n Nick’s right next to our gate so we followed the great scent over to lunch. There wasn’t a host so we just seated ourselves and our waitress found us. Not sure if you are supposed to seat yourself or wait to be seated though, but we saw a mix of both approaches while we were eating. I had the Pig in the Garden Salad and the Soup of the Day. The Cheese Biscuits that came with our food were good. Not quite the melts-in-your-mouth, I-dream-about-them everyday Red Lobster Cheddar Bay Biscuit kind of good, but a nice way to start the meal and they didn’t feel too heavy or over-seasoned. The Soup tasted like a mild gumbo and had a ton of chicken and sausage in it… arguably a bit too much. The small cup made me full! Okay, the small cup with the biscuit… the salad was okay. Lots of pork and lots of lettuce, but not a whole lot of flavor. Luckily, there are bottles of BBQ sauce on the table, which I took advantage of. All in all, I expected a little more pizzaz, but had a nice time. Prices are great for the portion size, especially for an airport restaurant, but that is the charm of being down South. While I won’t be fantasizing about Jim ‘n Nick’s, if I had to spend another 6 hours in the Birmingham airport, chances are I’d come back.

Really wanted some BBQ before I flew out, went to the to-go window. Order a BBQ pork sandwich, waited 17minutes, two people got their food ahead of me. I left and asked for a refund, got that, and got to my gate right before boarding. NO food and not a happy customer.

Seated quickly. Drinks were brought quickly. Service was friendly and prompt. Corn muffins to start while I waited for my food. Meal served quickly and food was correct. When I was done, the server was polite and brought the check, took my credit card and gave me the slip in a reasonable time frame. My issue with this place was the price – I know it’s an airport and we are a captive audience but the house wine was nearly 14 for a 9oz pour. It was drinkable but not worth that money. Around $ 30 for one glass of wine, one soda and one of the smaller meals.

For an airport restaurant, the service isn’t that great. After you sit down, it’ll take about 5 minutes for your server to come to your table. I was probably at the restaurant for a little over an hour(thank you flight delay), and my waitress came only once to check on me. I had to grab her attention to get water and the check. Be forewarned it takes the restaurant a while to bus tables. I noticed when I left there were about 6 tables waiting to be cleaned and about 10 people in line. I myself had about a 7 minute wait, but there aren’t many options in the airport. Aside from the Good Brewing Company in «concourse» A(because to me, it’s all the same thing), this is your only other sit-down restaurant and bar. I ordered the pork links plate, which includes two sides, and a peach sangria. I liked the food and drink. The sangria was definitely fruity(the way sangria should be). I went to a Jim ‘N Nick’s outside of the airport, and the mashed potatoes are better in the airport, surprisingly, since they had texture and body. The coleslaw was just right, the sausage was just right(not too spicy, not too mild, not too tough, hearty and meaty), and the cheese biscuits were delicious. Pre-tip, the drink and plate cost $ 30.44. I would definitely skip the brown gravy. I asked for it on the side. It was unbearably salty, so I am glad I did. They also charged an extra $.59. Who charges extra for gravy with mashed potatoes??? Isn’t that a given in the south???

If you are at Birmingham airport and in need of food this is your ONLY option. So unfortunately there’s not much you can do. Just know a few things… 1. The service will be slooooow! 2. They will get your order wrong. 3. A Bloody Mary with ZERO garnish(not even a piece of celery) is $ 11.00. I will actually risk missing my plane next time and stop in downtown Birmingham before ever eating or drinking here again.
