Downtown Birmingham, this contemporary boutique sells luxury designer pieces. My girlfriend turned me on to this store way back in the 80’s, you know like a so called friend who hands you a crack pipe. When you enter the store the first thing that grabs your attention is the groovy ambient music in the background and it’s never annoyingly loud. Upon your initial visit the sales ladies will give you a quick glance as they fly to the back where they are doing custom shopping work for well, mostly those lucky enough to have maximum bank accounts. If you keep coming back they do warm up a bit. It takes a lot of courage the first time in the dressing area where there are NOCURTAINS on the room. Too bad I have to take out a few stars like some other reviewers for the same reason, the sales ladies are just too unwelcoming for such a high ticket store. Took back an item I purchased here just to ask a question and was treated rudely.

I have often wondered how Linda’s edgy New York fashion sensibility led her to open a shop in the sleepy hamlet of Birmingham, known more for a Lilly Pulitzer than a Dries Van Noten vibe. LD has carries the best of the best, and the minimalist(zen?) store always showcases the clothes to their best advantage. One of my favorite jackets of all time – a Jil Sander — in black with white stitching was purchased here. I received no meaningful assistance in connection with the purchase. I would not classify the sales associates as «stuffy» but rather as «aloof.» Not sure if that is a function of their desire to allow to clients browse or a general lack of initiative. Deducting one star. At LD’a price points, the associates should be fawning over customers.

Linda’s still here! I saw her working early Sunday morning! Designer clothes and personal shopper experience combine to make a signature boutique in downtown Birmingham!

This is THE place to shop in Michigan, and the entire Midwest for that matter. The store carries such a wide range of designers that suits every taste. Everything from Balenciaga, Galliano, Comme des Garcons, Ferretti, and many more. The store is an amazing space and its always interesting to see the way they merchandise the clothing and transform the store. They have a great staff(not stuffy at all like the other reviewer noted). Only thing bad about the store is what it can do to your CC’s, because they have so much great stuff its hard to walk out without buying something.

I read in Elle magazine, this was the best place to find designer deals — I was like yeah right. Well, I decided to check it out and this statement was actually true. Now the clothes are not cheap! But with designers like Comme des Garçon and other hard to find designers on sale for $ 200 – 500 — originally $ 1000 – 2500 you can’t beat it. The sales staff were stuffy and too concerned with their regular clients. I barely got a hello out of them! It would have been three stars if the help was kinder. The sales are great if you like unique designer clothing. Two stars for the service and the horrible print adds.
