Marni has been doing my curly hair for years and from my first visit, she became the only person I would ever allow to cut or color it. She is a GENIUS with curls and color who trained at the epicenter of curl knowledge, Devachan in NYC. Big bonus: Marni teaches you to make your hair look and feel as terrific as it does when you leave the salon. An earlier reviewer wrote that she’s expensive but actually, her prices are a bit lower than others in the area… and her expertise is completely worth it. Plus, Marni is a kind, down-to-earth person who gives you 100% of her attention and truly wants you to love your hair. DONOTLETANYONEELSETOUCHYOURCURLS! GOTOMARNI @ CURLVANA!

Takes awhile to get an appointment, and expensive, but worth the wait and the price. When she asked what I wanted to do with my hair, I had nothing in mind but vaguely told her I was willing to part with an inch and I thought my hair«could be better.» My hair is wavy in some spots and straight in others. I have previously been told that I might not be a good candidate for a curly-specific haircut, but I think anybody with non-straight hair can benefit from working with their texture. I also have thin hair around my part, which has been in the same spot for 19 years. My hair is over-bleached as well. Given what she had to work with, she did an excellent job. My texture looks a lot more fun, and the overall shape is MUCH improved. She switched the side I part on, which was scary, but looks a lot better with growing out my hella damaged hair. She taught me how to style daily without shampooing daily. Given that you don’t need to get your hair cut that often when you see her, and given that she does it right the first time, it really isn’t overly pricy to go to Marni. I will be making my next appointment a month in advance.

Marni is the best thing to happen to my curls! I get so many compliments on my ‘do and people always ask, «What do you put in it?» My husband rolls his eyes because he knows the long explanation ahead. It’s not just about the product, it’s a whole philosophy of managing your curls. And it starts with one of Marni’s great haircuts along with her guidance on styling and care. Her new digs at Sola Salons is great. I love the concept of individual salon studios. If you find her on Facebook you can book an appointment through there. I love that Marni gives you a discount if you arrive with your hair already styled and ready for the dry cut. It saves me time and money. I think I’m usually out of there in 20 minutes.
