Mix has now been closed by Chris DuPont, but the location has reopened as a downtown location for Continental Bakery, and they still serve a few of Mix’s popular lunch items.

As Trevor noted, I was a bit sad to see Mix«close» but Continental Bakery is still good. However, I was iritated to note that they took out the fountain coke machine and now only have bottles and cans. The day I went, they also did not have any diet sodas. While I don’t want to get into the battle of how«bad» diet drinks actually are for you, if you offer regular, please ensure you have diet options(aside from water) as well. The ham and cheese sandwich was still good but not as good as the cronut. But $ 2 for a donut is a bit rich for my(sugar, fatty) blood.

Staff were super nice, and helpful. Food was delicious, café was clean and nicely decorated, and French music playing in the background was the cherry on top. 10000% recommended.

Love this place! Bakery items are so good and the blackened chicken sandwich has a special place in my heart.

For years, it was next to impossible to get a good bite to eat downtown that wasn’t fried or smothered in gravy. However, things have changed a good deal over the past several years, and Mix is part of the puzzle. Best BLT I have ever eaten, bar none. And great cookies, too.

Great sandwich place and bakery! Inventive, fun sandwiches and nice atmosphere make this a favorite of mine whenever I’m downtown. Friendly service rounds out the dining experience. There are better bakeries in town(especially for treats) but Mix makes for a fantastic lunch spot! Food: Fresh produce and bread put together in interesting, novel ways make for a unique lunch experience. Prices are reasonable considering the quality of ingredients. The portions of the sandwiches are on the small side for most but are more than adequate for lunch. The salads are generous and tasty as well! The sweets lack the same quality as the sandwiches. Not terrible by any stretch but not as tasty as their other fare. ½ price day old bread is great! Service/Atmosphere: Order at the counter and they bring it out. The staff has always been friendly and courteous during my visits. Considering the simplicity of some of the dishes, they can be a little slower than expected but never terrible. Mix is very modern and clean with a good vibe and great lighting. I love the metal B’ham décor! Small-ish patio on nice days, but its on the Street side — would have gotten better sun on the Avenue side.

If you like a stale hollow sugar cookie called a macaroon, then this is the place! This is my third visit here trying to like it, but everything I’ve tried is dried out or overly sweet.

I am not from Alabama, but I visit for work every once in a while. I absolutely have to head here every time I am in town. The baked goods are unique and always tasty, I love the lemon doughnuts. And the sandwiches are awesome, the pork belly egg sandwich is messy amazing porky goodness.

Terrific fresh breads, pastries, and light eatery. The grilled cheese should be renamed to toasted heaven… it’s more like fresh foccacia loaded with sharp white cheese with a buttery finish. The salads are made with the perfect amount of ingredients and tossed in a vinaigrette. Perfect lunch spot.

I have only been to Mix for breakfast pastries, but you really can’t get better baked goods downtown! The make the most amazingly delicious chocolate glazed donuts, the prosciutto and cheese croissants are heavenly and apple turnovers and so much bread and cinnamon rolls and almond croissants and and and I LOVETHISPLACE!
