I enjoyed coming here the other day for lunch with some coworkers. It won’t beat out places like Mugshots or Red Robin, but it’s on par with 5 Guys and others establishments of that nature. The burger is very customizable. Different breads, cheeses, burger types, and tons of addons. I got a burger with pepperjack cheese, mushrooms, bacon, and A1 sauce. It was quite tasty and very filling. The fries were nothing special, but there were a lot of them, and I couldn’t finish them on my own. Overall, a good choice if you’re craving a quick burger. But there are better gourmet burger restaurants if that is what you’re looking for.

I have heard great things about Mooyah’s burgers. Today, I decided to try them out to see if they were as good as people say. I ordered a double cheeseburger with a-1 medium combo. The first thing I will say is that the food was ready in a hurry, hot and fresh. The first thing I tried was the fries, which were of a higher quality than you would find in most places. Just the right amount of salt and flavor. However the burger was definitely worth the trip. The buns were soft and light, almost like a croissant. Once I took the first bite, I was hooked. The burger was charred on the edges, lending an umami flavor in the first bite. The center of the burger was juicy and flavorful. I will definitely be going again very soon and I recommend you do the same.

A quick service no frills burger joint with not much else to offer. Mooyah is similar/virtually identical to a 5 Guys. It appears there may be a few variations /additional few toppings. My order was hot and prepared accurately. I’m uncertain as to which came first but it appears 5 Guys has the advantage in my opinion in Birmingham. The meal was perfectly acceptable and I would eat there again if I’m in the area craving a burger, I’m just not going to seek this establishment out… I personally enjoy the product from 5 Guys more.

Went and tried Mooyah for the first time 8÷2÷2015. The service was good, they delivered the food to us which was not expected of them. The food though was unimpressive. I ordered a beef burger, which I could have had better at Five Guys. The veggie burger was good because very few places offer a fresh veggie burger. The French Fries were not good at all; they were very soft. Overall, I would not go back for the beef burger and fries but might go back for the veggie burger.

I live burgers, so when a friend suggested this place to me I was really excited to try it. I went with a fairly basic burger on the white bun, with blue cheese and fried onions, with a side of fries. I have to say that the patty itself was spectacular. You can tell that it’s great quality beef. I wouldn’t get the bun again or the blue cheese. It’s like the bun isn’t firm enough, if that makes sense? The blue cheese was more of a sauce than a cheese, which sounds delicious but it really wasn’t. The fries were absolutely perfect and they have a sort of «build your budger» concept going on. I’m definitely going back to give this place another try.

Awesome! Fries are as good as the burgers. Manager or owner? Always there during lunch rush to make sure things move smoothly. Love it!

Ordered quickly and had choice of seating. Since it was my first trip I stuck with the basic burger with cheese. Choice of cheese was a nice touch over most chains. Not knowing what to expect I asked for Mooyah sauce on the side. Despite being assembled fresh(can’t say prepared because no way meat cooks that quickly) food was ready quickly and order was accurate. Seemed a little greasier than expected but taste was very good. Downside was not offered how it was prepared(I prefer medium) another reason not«prepared» to order. Better than other similar chains but not best burger chain in town. Not as good as I was(mis)lead to believe by friends that recommended. I can see myself going back but would not go out of my way and not good enough to wait for if busy.

not the best fries I have ever had but the milkshakes make up for it. Some things they charge for on a burger seem silly. the veggie burger is actually one of the best that I have had. They call people’s name out on a speaker but it’s mostly a murmur so that system seems to be pretty poor.

An hour after I ordered my food I got to sit down to eat… Check your food before you take it home if you get«to go» order. Not only did I get to drive there twice, but I didn’t even get offered a drink while I got to wait again for my order. I got offered a cookie when my food was given to me, and by then I was fuming and just wanted to get out. The hamburger was better than I expected but I’m very irritated about the while situation.

I have to admit I was a little disappointed at my recent lunchtime visit. Maybe it was because everyone raves about the burgers here, and I love the concept of all the extras at no addl charge, but my burger was simply good. Not great. And all I had heard about was the«juicy» burgers and mine was tasty but a little dry. The fries were freshly made and very good. And all toppings were fresh, the place was clean & the staff was nice. So if I could, I’d give the burger a 3& everything else 4.5 stars. But since the burger was the reason I went, I had to give an overall 3 stars. I’ll try them again & hope to get the same burger experience as most have had.

Best burger restaurant in town. I get the iceburger these days, and it’d awesome. No fries for me, but when I have ordered them in past, they were great. Good for the whole family, quick, fresh, and reasonable, considering the rent. Give them a try. You’ll love it.

While not quite as disgustingly good as Five Guys, you definitely don’t feel as guilty after eating a yummy burger at MOOYAH. I love to experiment with different variations, and their milkshakes are outstanding. Their service model is unique and interesting, and the grill cooks in the open kitchen usually get the food out fast. The fries are great, but I think Five Guys definitely has them beat in this category. I’ve also been very pleased with ownership and management each time I’ve gone. All told, a great laid-back place to go get a pretty good no-frills burger. Oh, and I’ll save any first-timers the embarrassment of asking what the MOOYAH sauce is: It’s very similar to Thousand Island dressing and it’s amazing!

Similar to Five Guys, Mooyah is a no frills burger joint with minimal choices — just the way I like my burgers. I choose a turkey burger with a whole wheat bun but was sure to sample my dining companion’s Mooyah burger that she ordered«iceburger» style(wrapped in lettuce, sans bun). Good news, non-red meat eaters: the turkey burger is awesome! Juicy and flavorful, this turkey patty is a great alternative to a regular burger. The regular Mooyah burger though, is the real winner here. Unlike Five Guy’s burgers, this is simply a really great, non-greasy burger. However, the fries are just as loaded with grease as Five Guy’s fries, but that’s fine with me — I don’t eat out to have a healthy meal. I asked for half regular fries and half sweet potato fries and got way more than my friend. Definitely not complaining about that one! Didn’t taste test the milkshakes on this visit, but am looking forward to doing so my next visit.

So, Mooyah or Five Guys… well for me that’s a no-brainer. Since they’ve been open I’ve given Five Guys the«Overrated Crowd-Supported Burger Joint of the Year» award multiple years running. And I won’t say Mooyah is the best burger I’ve ever had, but it’s absolutely bullwhips the heck out of the 5er. So now that that’s settled. I really like Mooyah for what it is — just a simple place to get a burger, a crap-ton of fries, and a pretty decent milkshake. No overthinking, no gimmicks, just a WYSIWYG-kinda food joint. The atmosphere and location are favorable to its success along with a reasonable price for their offerings. The food is pretty tasty and won’t disappoint(I personally *really* enjoy the fresh-cut fries, of which there are always a lot), and the folks working there are as nice as can be. You could probably head elsewhere to find some fancy,(again) overrated burger that will«challenge your senses»(or whatever the latest«foodie» — read, person that just likes to eat and feels that s/he needs a term to justify it — catch phrase is); but you’d miss the point of a place like Mooyah. Simple. Good. Quick. Done. //Order. Hang out. Eat. Leave. Bottom line — it’s good. Check ‘em out sometime.

The first time I ate here with my co-workers, I thought it was great. However, when I went there on the weekend with my family, the food wasn’t the same. It seems inconsistent, which I truly despise. The food wasn’t all that fresh and the presentation was horrible. It was okay. I wouldn’t go back.

Not a bad place to grab a burger. The burgers were delicious and not greasy, the fries weren’t that good. I also got a milkshake and it wasn’t the greatest, but the burgers are worth it. I can taste the difference in the meat, had lots of flavor & not dripping in grease! Very nice setup with tv’s and the pricing is like five guys!

My endless pursuit of finding the best veggie burger brings me to Birmingham, Alabama. OK, not really, but I did want to try Mooyah’s while i was here. Similar to a Five Guys, Mooyah’s would definitely have the upper hand in the Atlanta market with their respectable vegetarian option, while Five Guys has none. While not an extensive or exotic list of toppings, the basics are done well. I had two veggie burgers, one on wheat and one sandwiched between iceberg lettuce leaves, and I actually preferred the ones sans bun. The lettuce wrap style really brought out the flavor of the patty and provided a real fresh taste. Sweet potato fries were good and they were very generous in quantity provided. I will probably never like the prices at these boutique burger joints, but would definitely return if in the area or if they come to Atlanta. You listening Five Guys???

Mooyahs is yummy! I ordered veggie on ice & thoroughly enjoyed the freshness offered. I added swiss cheese, pickles, ketchup, mustard & onions. My husband ordered an original mooyah combo with tons of manly toppings:) fries & root beer to wash it all down. Honestly there is nothing special about the fries… you can do without em especially if you’re watching your figure. Ordering was a longer process than expected only because we were trying to make sense of satisfying our tastebuds. People compare mooyahs to five guys, but I think they stand alone in taste and the variety on what they offer(the concept however is a mesh of five guys & which wich). Overall the staff was helpful & answered our questions. I’d go back to fill my desire for a ‘healthy’ burger. I certainly recommend you give em a try and see for yourself. Step outta your to-go container & enjoy happy eats :)

The kids said they wanted a burger and milkshake, so to Mooyah’s we ventured. As others have mentioned, there’s a little bit of Five Guys rip off, with a milkshake, and less fries. Funny, the fry cup is half the size of the Five Guys, and says«Never Enough Fries» on the side. Maybe that’s because they jip you. We ordered milkshakes, but the oreos were still so big and chunky that they settled to the bottom impossible to drink with a straw. Staff was friendly and helpful. Didn’t find much value in the meal though.

I’m not sure why the previous reviewer had such a bad experience, but mine was just the opposite. I finally had a chance to try it out a few days ago and I’m glad I did. And I will be back. I like Mooyah much better than Five Guys and I used to be a big fan of Five Guys. Lately, FGs has gone down in quality. FGs burger taste ‘smushed’…you know, like everything tastes the same… bread, meat condiments, all ‘smushed’ together… soggy lettuce, not-so-fresh tomatoes and blah tasting pickles. But let me back up… Mooyah does have the same ‘concept’ as Five Guys so let’s start there. Here are the main differences: Options: Mooyah has several types of cheeses, several kinds of burgers(beef, turkey, veggie), two types of fries(regular and sweet potato) and different types of bread with wheat option and a ‘breadless’ patty option. And they have endless toppings you can add. Extras: Mooyah also serves shakes(using Mayfield ice cream) and they also grilled cheese sandwiches for the little ones. Other: Mooyah bakes its bread fresh daily, in-house. The freshness of the bread is what stood out to me. It’s like great pizza… the dough makes the pizza and in this case the bread makes the burger(at least for me). Yes, they do wrap their burgers in foil like FGs, however, when you unwrap it the elements of the burger are separate and stand-alone in that it’s fresh and put together like a homemade burger. You can taste each individual part of the burger. And considering that it’s a ‘fast’ burger(i.e., not a steakhouse gourmet burger), the quality of Mooyah’s is very good. You place your own order by filling out your options on a slip of paper. From there it’s pretty similar to waiting for burgers at FGs, minus the peanuts. The taste of the fries are similar to FGs and they give you twice as much, just like FGs… fries overflowing in the bag. I went just after lunch so it wasn’t busy. I don’t know if the quality changes if the places gets a bit busy so that could make a difference. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I got a chance to talk to Jason, one of the manager/owner/operators and he was really cool. I complimented him on the bread and I asked if it was possible to place an order for bread and he said it’s not an option now, but he would definitely look into providing that option. If they do, I will buy. So in the meantime he was nice enough to give me fresh bread out of the oven. Score! It’s the little things for me. As I said, I will be back. I’m patiently waiting for them to open a store on the ‘east side’. In the meantime, I’ll gladly take a drive to 280. Now be warned, it’s a tad bit more expensive than the average burger place so don’t expect a $ 3.99 combo option! If you like Five Guys give Mooyah a chance!
