I’ve only popped in a few times in the past for a quick look around but only recently took the time to browse through everything — and took one of their workshops on calendar making. It was an hour and a half workshop, just over $ 20, and we were able to use all their amazing supplies ranging from stamps to the heat embosser and everything in between. It was craft heaven. Plus, I learned some new techniques, and we each got our own copy of the instructions for each month. As if that weren’t enough, we also got a 10 percent discount for whatever we purchased that day. So I’d highly recommend checking out the website to see what upcoming workshops are available. Only downside? I wish we had more time to work on our projects! The supplies, cards, etc are not cheap. But it’s all really well made.

This is my happy place! Every time I visited the Chicago store, I would think, «They should open a Birmingham store.» So glad that they did just that a little over a year ago and I hear that an Ann Arbor store is in the works. Love going here to buy beautiful stationary, letterpress greeting cards, rubber stamps, ink & other craft supplies. Lots of random gifty items, too. The DIY classes are super fun for a «girls night out.» Great location on Maple — right downtown. Convenient parking — free for the first 2 hours in the structures.

My wife would regularly order her photography packaging supplies from Paper Source until we noticed the Birmingham store one day while passing by. She’s now there almost weekly picking up stuff. The store is always clean and has a nice mix of standard items and new stock. As much as I tend to hate shopping, let alone shopping for paper, I actually enjoy Paper Source.

Love the store for cute cards and random presents, but in terms of invitations, I think you are better off going somewhere else. The sales associates are friendly and nice, but I do not think that they always know what they are talking about. Also, the prices for even a basic digital print are more expensive than going other routes with other invite stores.

I first visited Paper Source in California. Ahh! I was in heaven! I think I screamed when I was driving through Birmingham and saw Paper Source(southwest corner of Maple and Pierce). I contemplated turning around and taking a detour to the store but then realized I was being irrational as the store wasn’t even open at the time(it was either really early or really late in the day, I forget which). I finally got myself over to Birmingham recently and was impressed by this store’s selection, despite the location being smaller. You can find stationery, fun/cool/pretty greeting cards, a beautiful selection of paper(not as big as Hollander’s in Ann Arbor but still very nice), paper flower kits, gifts that are cool/funny/cute/sometimes all of the above, as well as some fun little items right by the cash register… like monster finger puppets! I haven’t tried any of the crafting classes, but they sound like fun.

When I lived in Chicago Paper Source was one of my favorite stores. Being that I’m pretty crafty I loved going in there looking at all the fancy papers, buying up tons of stamps, ribbons, blank cards, etc for projects or browsing their fun stationary items for gifts or a treat for myself. I sincerely missed this store and all the wonderful products they offered. So when I was in Birmingham back in October and saw the«coming soon – Paper Source» sign I squealed in delight and promptly texted everyone I knew that would care and they all responded with equal excitement. Flash forward to this week when I was finally able to pop in and investigate. Now, it’s certainly not as big as the multi-floor shops I was used to in Chicago but everything I loved about the store was there. Even the smell! I felt back in my element as I perused the lovely letterpress cards, the paper kits(you bet I bought the gnome ornament kit!), wrapping papers, etc. Christmas is my favorite time to visit Paper Source and I found it pretty fitting that that’s when I was able to visit our new shop for the first time. As I mentioned it’s a bit smaller than the usual shops I’m used to but it was also packed with loads of Holiday stock so I’m sure once the new year rolls around and they pack away all the trees and elves a lot of the other products will be available. I also love that they offer classes on paper crafting – whether you’re a beginner or an expert there’s something you can learn here. Customized invitations and stationary are also available if you need something special(although that can be a bit pricey) but don’t have time to go the DIY route. The staff was just darling and enthusiastic about the shop which was contagious. I dropped A LOT of money buying up loads of my crafting staples, gifts, and wrapping papers for holiday presents but I have no regrets – I’ve been waiting a long time to get my shop on at Paper Source again!

If you’ve ever been to a Paper Source store or shopped on their website you already know how fantastic the stores are. I almost stroked out when I heard they were FINALLY opening a store in Michigan. This is a craft person’s heaven — and I don’t mean craft with a capital K. They have a wall of blank card/envelopes in every color, rubber stamps, glitter, book binding supplies, greeting cards, DIY projects, wrapping paper, very cool gifts items, etc. They also have workshops for $ 25 a person… kinda pricey for kids, but there are parents that practically take out a 2nd mortgage for their kid’s parties — so maybe it’s a bargain. The staff is very knowledgeable and quite friendly. They all seem quite happy to be working there. It’s a cross between an upscale Michael’s and an indie card/gift shop. Not sure if prices of the basic items — glitter, glues, rubber stamps, scissors, etc, are more expensive at Paper Source, but it’s definitely worth checking out. Monday-Saturday 10 – 7 Sunday 12 – 6
