Paper Source

Paper Source is a great stop if you need a card or gift for a special event. The cards are more on the expensive side than if you picked one up from Walmart or Target, but they also seem more special because they aren’t mass produced.
There are also a lot of little gift items, from calendars and planners to books, wine glasses, straws, towels, pens, notebooks, games, and toys.
Staff is usually nice and friendly.
My one and only strange instance was one time going in with my mom and whatever music they use– I don’t know if it’s a paid-​for radio station, playlist, or Muzak — was playing the unedited version of Thrift Shop really loudly throughout the store. Okay, sure. But this is a paper goods store… music where every two or three words is a curse word you can’t say on TV doesn’t really fit the vibe. Thankfully, after the third round of the f-​bomb-​laden chorus, one of the girls behind the counter changed the song. But I’m pretty sure it’s only because she heard my mom and I talking about it, and not because she realized that the song was inappropriate for the atmosphere the store was trying to convey.
Other than that one random time, this place has been great!

Love a good card and stationery shop, and this one is pretty great! I went by last week to pick up a card for a wedding I was attending and needed a gift bag for a bottle of champagne– I was greeted warmly as I came in an immediately asked if I was looking for anything in particular. After the clerk showed me the selection of wedding cards (all unique and adorable) she showed me a selection of wedding-​appropriate wine bags and even brought out the tissue papers that would best suited for wrapping. I picked up the bag, paper, and card and even grabbed an extra card because it was just too perfect to resist. If you’re looking for funny/​quirky cards and a great selection for gift wrap as well as friendly service, I can’t recommend Paper Source enough!

Stumbled into the store because I love stationary. there are lots of cute items with witty remarks. It’s quite pricey, but I see it more as a specialty/​gift shop for those quirky people in your life. I will be back!

This is my favorite stationary shop in Birmingham. And that’s saying something because I live closer to other stationary shops but this one is incredibly unique. The entire right side is cards followed by journals and print books and the left is the most amazing selection of stationary paper you could ever imagine. I meant to snap a picture but I was wet from the rain and didn’t get a chance to. They also have some scrapbooking supplies and other ribbons/​stickers etc. The staff was very nice to me. I have never seen such a unique collection of cards. They have simple and funny ones. The prices are actually pretty decent. Most of them are under $ 5 which is less than what you would pay at a local drug store for something as nice. This place is comparable to a papyrus if you’ve ever been one. I will be coming back for unique gems and goods!

I received their catalog before they opened in the ‘Ham and was excited when they opened a shop at the Summit. For wrapping paper, The Paper Source can’t be topped. The paper is 100 times more sophisticated than what you will find elsewhere. They also have a display of «fine» papers. I’m not sure what people do with them, but they are beautiful.
The customer service is great. They will help you pair paper with ribbon and bows. They also wrap gifts at $ 4 a pop, but for someone that is not great at wrapping, it is a luxury that is totally worth it.
There is a selection of greeting cards and they are all beautiful, quirky, unique and/​or clever. It’s better than the cheesy Hallmark type card selection, but you pay a premium for that.
This is also a great place to get a last minute gift and get it wrapped at the same time. I purchased a makeup pouch, scarf and candle for a friend’s gift and had it wrapped all in one stop.
