If I could leave negative stars I would. The hostesses were oblivious. We were told our wait would be 30 minutes. After an hour we asked how much longer and were told 30 more minutes. When I turned the pager in I wasn’t even apologized to. Will NEVER be returning.

I had a great experience and the food was delicious. I ordered a side of guacamole and the Taco Al Carbon beef and chicken mix with 2 frozen margaritas(white peach/watermelon)… I’ll start with the salsa, which was really delicious and very fresh. It’s on the spicier side, so just be aware! I was greedy and ordered an additional taco, which I couldn’t finish. The order comes with 2, which is more then enough. They were delicious and comes top with peppers and onions, but you can request the traditional toppings too. The drinks didn’t disappoint and the service was on point! I’m already planning on returning this weekend.

First time at Chuy’s . The waiter arrived and took my drink order and returned for my food order(Enchiladas Chika– Chika –Boom Boom). When the food arrived I was warned about the hot plate. I cut into my enchiladas and found it to be cold. So cold that the cheese inside was still grated and there were pieces of chicken inside. The side rice was dry. But The 3 leches cake was at point! Yay!!!

I love Chuy’s! It’s a great place for family and friends to get together for any occasion! They are usually really busy from 4 to close. Happy hour and free chips, salsa, and queso is from 4 – 7, which is the best time to go! But be prepared for the long waiting list. I really like how outside and the bar area is first come first served. You’re more than likely to get a table there first. The view outside though is incredible! The frozen margaritas are AMAZING! My favorites are peach sangria and the strawberry swirl or the granddaddy brew that has the lime frozen margaritas(or you can switch flavors), a corona and a shot to mix in with the rest! Yesterday they had a new flavor, watermelon, and it was delish! My favorite dish is of course the chicken quesadilla. You can never go wrong with a chicken quesadilla! I definitely recommend this restaurant. It’s fun, the food is great, and the atmosphere is wonderful!

What can I say about Chuys? Probably that it’s some pretty good Tex-Mex food! I’ve been here numerous times and I am never disappointed. I always recommend to get the the creamy jalapeño dip to go with your chips and salsa which is amazing! One of my recommendations is the Elvis Friend Chicken, which is chicken crusted with Lays chips and fried, it’s probably one of the best things I’ve had. I also love the chimichangas, and I have just recently tried the Baja Tacos with fried shrimp it also comes with creamy jalapeño dip on it with red cabbage. And what can I say about happy hour! The margaritas are strong and tasty, I tried out the watermelon with white peach sangria and it was moved to the top of my margarita list! It’s pretty loud here but still a good time, the wait doesn’t really bother me because the experience makes up for it. Highly recommended trying this spot if your looking for some good ok Tex-Mex!

We went here last Sunday(5÷15÷2016) knowing it wasn’t the best idea as far as timing goes. However, Mexican restaurants, in general, do a great job of getting you and out and it was close to a particular location(my daughter’s high school graduation). First, they were, of course, booked solid but were very accommodating to our group. They had to split us up, but it was out choice based on our time constrictions. Once our group arrived we were seated in a reasonable time and the chips and salsa showed up right on queue. Our waiter arrived on time, took our drink orders and our food order again in a reasonable time. The service for the entire meal was great. I’m sorry that I don’t remember his name but he was on top things. The chips and salsa were good — and we all enjoyed plenty. Now, for the negative — I ordered the combo steak-chicken fajitas. The chicken was fine with a decent flavor. The steak was some of the toughest meat I’ve seen in a long time. In fact, it was so tough I left about half if and just ate the chicken. I had a hard time cutting it with a knife, it was so bad. It was terrible. My wife, father-n-law, and mother-n-law ordered the tortilla soup — nothing but negative comments about it — the first being it was cold and tasted like«water». The all were very disappointed and basically filled up on chips. I don’t want to be negative because they were very nice in accommodating our group but the food that some of us ordered was dreadful.

The one star is for my drink. Earlier this afternoon we sat outside at one of the umbrella tables and were in the middle of a swarm of termites. At first there weren’t that many of them but when the next table got their food the attack increased. Then our food came and it was worse. Our server retrieved the manager. He stopped at the table next to us and said he’d been there 6 years and had never seen these bugs before. I didn’t quite understand what that had to do with him doing manager stuff and finding somewhere else we could sit. Instead he disappeared back inside. We paid our check and left after my husband fished several bugs out of my hair and the one own the back of my shirt.

Looking for a solid happy hour spot? This might be it. Great deals on margaritas and a tasty chip bar with salsa, queso, and meat. Style up your dip however you like! Ask for the creamy jalapeño dip! Very good with chips or any entrée and it’s free! The entrees are solid, not terrible or spectacular. I’ve had a few burritos and have been pretty good.

Went on a Thursday afternoon. Beautiful day but bad service. We sat on the patio for an hour before a server or anyone acknowledged us. We had to go to the bar and order drinks. It wasn’t even busy. AND to top it off nobody ever came to clean our table from the previous customer. I don’t understand how a restaurant can operate like this?

I’ve visited this Chueys numerous of times but my daughter wanted to come here for her first time. I wanted to change it up this time so I ordered the Shrimp and cheese rellinos. I wasn’t sure what it would taste like but it didn’t disappoint me at all. This will become my all time favorite dish from Chueys! Megan D was our waitress and she was absolutely the BEST! She was attentive and aware of our table and the tables around us I didn’t have to ask for anything it’s like she knew what I was thinking before I could asked! And my son devoured his plate

Terrible service. This is why I try to avoid chain restaurants. Doesn’t matter how good or great your food is or isn’t. If you have this level of service it negates everything else. I’ve got a lot to say about this experience but I’ve got to go get my own silverware first…

Honesty here as always. Nothing special about this place. For a lot more $$$ you get the same mex food as every other place in B’ham. People rave about chees dip or jalapeño sauce or quesadillas or the green stuff. It all tastes the same as every other mex place in B’ham. On the down side you have to deal with highway 280 traffic. Summit traffic. Summit parking. So what do you get for the extra $$$. great decorating. Awesome view of the«valley». Great service. I wont go back because it just isn’t worth it to me. Everyone needs a go to spot for a certain kind of food. this place isn’t bad it just isn’t for me.

I feel like I am breaking some kind of unwritten rule stopping the stars at 3, since most of the people I know LOVE this place, but I just don’t see it. One such friend SWEARS by the cheese dip. «It’s the BESTEVER!» she says… well, I doubt if you could tell the difference between it and any queso from any Mexican place in town. The jalapeño sauce is a signature item, but it seems to be everywhere and just glorified ranch dressing. Don’t get me wrong, this isn’t a TERRIBLE restaurant(else it would have had 1 or 2 stars) but I just don’t get the hype. Nothing ever stood out.

I can’t believe I’m actually giving a spot 5 stars but I can’t find a reason not to despite one error(I’ll explain later). Carry out order was: Elvis Fried Chicken Chicken soft tacos Beef Chili Relleno Sirloin Panchos Let me emphasize, this was carry out which I ABHOR except for Chinese. However, Chuy’s was absolutely packed and I didn’t feel like spending life in wait on a beautiful but CHILLY Saturday. There was hardly room to wait inside… a good sign. I’m sure there is more on the regular menu but I ordered from the carryout menu. We ate the Panchos in the parking lot. Yum! I had to close the box to save the last two for myself and my husband. The Elvis chicken is yummy. The taste of Lay’s is present but not overwhelming. A novelty done right! My rellenos was good but I got chicken instead of the beef I ordered. I called the restaurant and the manager, Matthew, quickly resolved the error without requiring me to drive all the way back to Chuy’s. While on the topic of customer service, EVERYONE we encountered was friendly and professional. I truly liked the slight«crisp» friendliness of Brenda who takes care of take out. You’ll know what I mean if you meet her. Perhaps I saw a bit of myself in her. :) The hostesses were working the crowd of hungry folks like a well oiled machine that didn’t seem to make anyone impatient enough to throw in the towel. We’ll be back. The big bag of chips and the white sauce alone have me planning my next trip.

Food is good most of the time. We absolutely have a family argument when we go here because our main purpose of going to eat Tex-Mex or Mexican food is to eat chips and salsa. The salsa here has ALWAYS been so hot that after 2 bites we are downing a glass of water. I give this pl e 3 stars because of the amount of headaches I’ve had to endure when someone in the family says ‘Let’s go eat Chuy’s’. Most of the time we end up going somewhere else because salsa is the #1 thing everyone wants. I’I travel across the county for 3 months every summer with my kids and we are serious food eaters. I should review more but only do when a place actually makes a statement to me, good or bad. Salsa here is NOT true Tex-Mex. it’s not edible here. When we do go we love getting the, Chicken tortilla soup, special nachos, tacos, and enchiladas. We have tried 3 of the many enchilada sauces and loved 2 of them. Chill out on the jalapeños and whatever else you add to make your salsa so hot so that we can eat here more often!

I don’t eat Mexican or Tex-mex much. I get burnt out on it too easily, plus I might be a bit picky with Mexican food — I want only the best. That being said, I wasn’t too impressed with Chuy’s. Drinks and chips came out fast, and the cheese dip was good. But my enchilada was absolutely smothered by the jalapeño sauce, and that’s all I could taste. It was a bit much. The view is great, and the drinks are chips are good, but I want good food, and this didn’t do it for me.

Coming to Bham from Texas, I’m a little spoiled(read: picky) when it comes to Tex-mex. I’ve been to Chuy’s in Texas, but mostly for happy hour, etc. We arrived around 8PM, and were quickly seated inside. Our drink orders were taken, and chips and fresh salsa were brought out. We asked for napkins and silverware(they never arrived). Our entrees came rather quickly, but our silverware was still MIA. We sat there looking at our food(get cold), and our waiter finally brought us utensils to use. Food was… Meh. Boyfriend’s enchiladas were swimming in the creamy jalapeño sauce. The egg on my enchiladas was fried hard… No runny yolk. Combined with the loud tables next to us, mediocre service, and average food, we’ll probably find another Mexican joint next time.

Best chicken flautas I’ve tasted in Alabama so far. Chips were light and crunchy, server was great, never had an empty basket of chips. Salsa was a bit too spicy for me but the guac was amazing! Giving this place a 2 thumbs up.

So, I love Chuy’s. Point blank period. What I love the most is all the different salsas and dressings for dishes. I had, what I called Spicy Ranch, but was actually Jalepeno Queso or something. I was too busy nomming to fully understand what the name was. I also love their Margs. Because let’s be honest, you’re going to Chuy’s for Margs, salsa, and lovely dishes. Everytime I’m in Birmingham, I go here. Ask for Paige. She’s a lovely little server.

When arrived was told a 25 minute wait. Was more like 35 – 40 minutes. We ordered queso because we were both very hungry by the time we were seated. Really the creamy jalapeño and basic salsa with the chips would have been sufficient. Baja Tacos with grilled shrimp and Chicka-Chicka Boom-Boom for entrees. Very pleased with the flavor and quantity of both. Will definitely return.
