Fresh products are a must for a bakery. I brought a cupcake that was dry as dirt, you know when they were baked and how long they last so just don’t sell them.

Sandwiches are decent but small and way over priced. Deli and counter staff are unfriendly to the point they are almost rude. If you like Savages, visit them soon. They will not be in business much longer.

Expensive for what you receive. Had 5 different type of cookies. All were bland, small in size and unmemorable Find another bakery. Starbucks baked goods are better in taste and value. That should say it all. People were nice.

My co-workers surprised me with a beautiful cake for my birthday from Savage’s. It was beautifully decorated, very moist and not over the top sweet. It was so pretty I really didn’t want to cut it. I want to go to the shop for myself in the near future to try out other selections.

So disappointed… went in today to purchase cup cakes & could not get anyone to wait on me or even acknowledge me. There were three men working behind the counter & not one of them looked up or said«we’ll be with you in a moment». I left because I have other choices. I’m sorry they haven’t gotten better with their customer service.

I’m a huge baked goods guy, and I don’t understand how anybody cannot love this bakery. I don’t just go out and buy much food unnecessarily, but everything I have eaten from Savage’s has rocked my taste buds in an great way.

Bleh. When I was a boy this bakery was one of my favorite places ever. I spent most days at my aunt’s house in Hollywood and she would walk me over nearly every day for a cookie. Every special occasion was marked with a delicious cake from Savage’s. Unfortunately, the bakery has petered out with age. Nowadays there’s a 50% chance that your baked good is going to be dry and crumbly and lacking any real substance or flavor. I haven’t had a cake from here in many years because the alternatives are just better — plain and simple(Edgar’s, Dreamcakes). The worst part of the whole experience is the service. I won’t get into the nasty details because, like I said, the idea of Savage’s holds a special place in my heart, but be prepared to work for it if you want to buy anything here. Things change with time; c’est la vie.

I visit my sister a few times a year in Vestavia Hills, AL and always insist that we make a detour to Savages. My go-tos every time are the mini cinnamon and pecan rolls and the cheese straws. I haven’t tried everything but am always really happy with my favorites and being a baker and having gone to a lot of bakeries all over the world, I think this is a great representation of delicious Southern baking!

Local says it all, i love the local stores and this bakery is no exception, pasteries are to die for, and of course they have NO calories! A place to stop and smell the baking.

Bought a strawberry cake this week and found two hairs in one slice. I hope no others found any and didn’t say anything to me. Bad deal.

My boyfriend grew up going to this place so this past weekend when I expressed a desire for a great gingerbread cookie he took me there for the best gingerbread cookie I have ever eaten. Most gingerbread cookies are too hard for my taste and after one or two bites I’m over the seasonal appeal… well their gingerbread cookies… have hardly any icing but are so delish on their own that they don’t need all the fancy trimming. They were adorable… and very soft. I loved them. I also had a bite of my boyfriend’s cherry cream cheese danish. YUM… I’m very impressed… Gingerbread cookies from there are the perfect December treat!

I heard this was THE place for pastries… and it was good! Prices were reasonable for a Saturday afternoon treat, but aside from the lemon bars, I didn’t find it to be terribly noteworthy. Maybe it’s because I don’t have the local affection for the place…
