Delicious shrimp and oyster basket, friendly service — I felt that I was at the beach. All the sides were terrific, especially the green beans and corn fritters. The atmosphere was casual and relaxed. Be sure to buy one of their cool t shirts as well. Can’t wait to go back!

Seated quickly and they easily accommodated our large party of 9 in the dining room instead of outside. I had the Fried Shrimp and Whitefish basket with Red Beans & Rice for a side. Other members of party had the Popcorn Shrimp basket, Fried Oyster basket. Food was really good and represented what I remembered about the times I’ve eaten at locations down on the coast. Now the negatives… At least 3 members of the party were missing items(corn nuggets or hush puppies) from their baskets or wrong items(tarter sauce instead of cocktail). Service was so-so. A couple of members of the party entrees arrived much later than the rest of the group and were not special orders. Server kept offering to refill drinks when nearly full but when glasses were empty no where to be found. Also brought checks almost immediately after food instead of waiting until nearly finished or offering anything else(it was not remotely close to closing time either). I would give it another try, certainly the other location across town which is closer to work.

After a recent trip to New Orleans in which my wife and I had family time higher on the priority list than getting oyster… we were craving some oysters! We originally heard that Shrimp Basket runs a special on them. But unfortunately that must have been temporary/different location. But the price on them here are pretty reasonable, so we decided to check it out. I am not always the biggest fan of Apalachicola oysters because they tend to be on the small side. But these were pretty decent and had great flavor. The service was decent but not great. The atmosphere was also along the par line. But I am sure when the weather is nice, the patio is great. It is hard to base cooking off of an experience with oysters. But for now, 4 stars is very deserving to fill our oyster craving!

I just don’t get why they don’t hold themselves to the same standard as other shrimp basket locations. We ate here fairly recently and it was just okay. The fish was not good at all, but their shrimp was fantastic. I felt like our waiter was either overwhelmed or just plain inattentive. If I have to flag someone down for a refill of tea, I consider that a problem. I’ll probably go again, but I will just get the shrimp.

I have been here several times lately and will be back soon. I have taken a few friends from work and all have loved it and have gone back. My family eats at the locations in Mobile, AL a lot. My Nana just gave me $ 50 in gift cards for shrimp basked which I am VERYGRATEFUL for! Definitely use the house hot sauce because it is great stuff and you can totally miss it sitting right there in front of you on the table. Recently I was turned on to the shrimp étouffée and I can say that I will get it again because it is huge and delicious! To round out a meal try cheese grits or fried okra for a side dish. This isnt the fanciest or the best seafood in Bham but, even for a guy who grew up on the gulf coast, it will definitely do.

I waited until I have been at this location several times before offering a review. I ordered oysters and they were so small, it was hard to get them from the shell. That wasnt the problem. They tasted like they were spoiled. I had one and asked the waitress to check them. My waitress had her assistant manager come speak to me… and the assistant manager acted as if I had done something wrong in having her check the oysters. She huddled with her manager and they simply looked over at me and walked away. It was shocking to get such of a reaction. You would have thought they had never had any sort of issue before, in the way she handled it. I paid for my order and left. I will never return to that location. The Gulf Shores location is awesome! ITs sad to see satellite locations hurt the reputation of a great organization.

My bf and his sister have been here a few times with mixed reviews. This was my first time. They said we were greeted by the server faster today than ever before. My first impression was wow sweep the floor already. I understand you might have had a busy lunch it being Sunday however it’s 5pm and the floor has not been touched since last night at closing I’m assuming. I got the steamed shrimp it was ok a bit over steamed and everything was covered in butter with it much taste. My fb and his sister got the fried oysters they both liked them. Service was friendly and fast. I will probably give it a second chance but I am not in a hurry to return.

I went here with two co-workers while visiting Birmingham last week and loved the food! I would give it 4.5 stars if I could. We dined at 12:30pm on a Monday and couldn’t believe how crowded the restaurant was! There were only two available parking spots in the lot and there was about a 20 minute wait. We took this as a good sign! We each ordered a different shrimp item and then sampled each other’s food. I ordered the shrimp basket and my two co-workers ordered the shrimp and grits(with the shrimp blackened) and the shrimp skewer. Shrimp basket — the shrimp were lightly breaded, decent sized and tasted excellent(and fresh). Shrimp and grits — I didn’t try the grits but my co-worker said they were excellent. I did try one of her blackened shrimps and it was excellent as well. Shrimp skewer — these were my favorite of the three! The menu said they marinated and cooked in a Caribbean-style sauce. The flavor was amazing! We had fried okra, mac ‘n cheese, onion rings and corn on the cob for our side items. All were very good. Our service was excellent. One person in our party did receive the wrong item and his order was quickly remade and the manager brought it out about 10 minutes later. I worked in the restaurant industry for a few years and usually a desert item is offered for free when there is a mess up like this. They did not offer anything other than an apology but that was ok with us. We ordered the funnel cake fries for desert and they were excellent!!! All in all, very good. I would definitely go to the Shrimp Basket again if I am ever in Alabama, Mississippi or Tennessee. If I remember correctly, they have about 20 locations total in those three states.

I was surprised at the freshness of the seafood. It is more than I expected. I just wanted to try it even though I expected it to be mediocre. However, it turned out to be an enjoyable meal. Fried shrimp was fresh and reasonably hot, fried oysters were cold and the french fries were some I would hesitate to get again. The coleslaw was awash with mayonnaise. Neither of us ate it. It is one to throw back. Oh, did I mention the shrimp were good. Actually, I enjoyed the meal and would go back. I would just be more careful with the ordering. We waited to go to the restaurant until after 2:30PM, but it was not late enough as we still had a bit of a wait, but not much. With a drink it would have seemed like not long enough of a wait… But alas, it was 100 degrees outside where we were waiting. While I was fine, my wife thought it too hot. They do have misters on the patio and there was a strong breeze wafting through. That made it comfortable for me. I liked the atmosphere, although seating was tight. Our order got to us pretty timely. It could have been faster, but that would not have given the oysters time to get cold. You know, the way we all like fried oysters… piping cold. The place is a bit of a trek as probably not very many Unilocalers live in that area, but a restaurant does better near an interstate highway. Yeah, I’ll go back.

First, my love of Shrimp Basket is documented already on Unilocal.Fresh, well priced, seafood served at your table with reasonable serving sizes. What’s not to love? And Crestwood has been showing the love. The three times I’m visited so far, twice for dinner, once for lunch, there have always been waits. So, a little constructive criticism for our friends at Shrimp Basket: I’m not sure you have the servers at this location quite ready for prime time. Yeah, I know you guys brought in the trainers when you first opened, I saw one of my favorite waitresses from a Pensacola location working and training the new staff. But I have to tell you, my last two visits, now that the trainers are gone, have been.…difficult. Yeah. That’s probably the best description.

Thank god the oysters remain nice and tasty. We ordered a dozen and had to order half a dozen more because of their awesomeness. I still can’t believe you receive a dozen of oysters for only $ 9.99!!! The first time I came we were highly disappointed with our entrees, but enjoyed the oysters very much. That is the only reason that we went back. This time I tried the red beans and rice which were tasty. I will go back often because the oysters can’t be beat. Oysters and red beans and rice will be the only items I purchase. It wasn’t for those items I would never go back I don’t like the décor or the ambience. A little backwoodz for my taste
