T J Maxx

I love TJ Maxx. Living in Southside the shopping is pretty slim pickings unless you want to spend an arm and a leg at the Summit. This TJ Maxx should be my saving grace. Unfortunately it’s not the best one I’ve been to. It always looks and is picked over. It’s like they just had a sale and need to restock.
If I do end up finding something And make it to check out the people at the register are always so nice and bubbly. Great service!

This location has a really good home department, including a large space dedicated to side chairs, ottoman, side tables, etc. I was surprised to find more Buddha related items here than in my hometown of San Francisco. Maybe because no one was buying that merchandise?
The travel section was good with a nice selection of Sharper Image travel stuff. I found lots of TSA locks and a hot iron converter/​adapter for Europe.
I guess everyone — men and women — are petite in Birmingham because I found very few items sized L and XL. There was an entire aisle of Medium shirts but only a section about 10″ wide for both L and XL. Very odd.
In the end I bought a Coach travel totebag and four TSA locks. My cousin bought a copy of «Fault of our Stars» for $ 4.99.

Selection is not as good as the Hoover store but sometimes you can get lucky and find a treasure here and there! I just got the cutest Tahari gray lounge pants with ruffle trim for $ 10! I saw the cutest navy Michael Kors rain coat for $ 30 and would’ve bought it if I hadn’t have scored a navy 7 for all man kind one last year for $ 15 on clearance! The store is clean and laid out well. You might not find what you went there looking for but you will find some sort of deal! The customer service is also superb!

The only reason I’m just giving it an A-​OK since they have some of the nicest staff (and clean restroom’s) is that the shoe, purse and clothing selection seems to not be as wonderful as it used to be. Or if I do find a purse, the price is just as much as it is in the regular retail store. So why buy it here? Also, turn the AC down some. The store get’s so hot I have to leave.

I LOVE TJ MAX. I just bought a fabulous Betsy Johnson belt last night for 12.99 and a pair of Armani Exchange sunglasses for $ 24. A cute pair of Aerie p.j. pants for 3.00 and a dress on clearance for 7! The Tj in Hoover has a few better name brands but this location is right by my house and I can not complain. I recommend either.
