Wingate By Wyndham

The hotel proved to be a place of great respite, an unexpected good find on our way back to TX.

Place is awesome! but expected. The only thing I’d complain about is not this place itself but the damn traffic just to get here!

Just ok. The bed was comfortable enough but not anything to get excited about. The room was clean (although smelled very faintly of smoke at first) the staff was friendly. However, there was a lot of light coming in the window all night. The AC unit made a single loud clunk every time it kicked on that woke me up every time it kicked on but my hubby slept straight though. Breakfast was just average: standard gas station pastries, yogurt, fruit, waffle maker, single serve cereal. There was eggs and sausage the eggs looks microwaved and sausage overdone. It was edible but again I’ve had better.

This is my second stay at a Wingate and unfortunately it came the night after my first stay which was at Wingate Montgomery.
The hotels look similar but during check-​in the staff couldn’t find me in the system. Since I booked through Priceline they swore it was Priceline’s fault and suggested I cancel that reservation so they could give me a more expensive room on the spot.
I called Priceline who said my reservation was good and called the hotel themselves to see what the problem was. I watched the front desk as they received the call and admitted it was their system that had a problem and had Priceline fax them my info. That was an exciting 15 – 20 minutes of my time that didn’t need to be wasted.
The next comparison is breakfast. Montgomery had hot scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, chipped beef and biscuits, oatmeal, all wonderfully hot and fresh. Birmingham had nothing hot but the waffles and had less of the other items (breads, cereals, fruit, juice) than the Montgomery location.
So it definitely wasn’t a horrible stay, the room was nice (TV reception was very grainy), hotel clean, staff polite and smiling, but it was nothing like the Montgomery location.

Excellent staff. I had an issue with my reservation via Kayak, and the front desk staff were professional and helpful and resolved my dilemma

We stayed here during the Grand Prix races at Barber Motor Sports complex. The room was very reasonably priced, large and clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. I guess the only complaint I have is that the breakfast wasn’t all that.
The hotel is located in a good part of town surrounded by nice restaurants and shopping.
We will certainly consider staying here again on our next trip to Birmingham.

This hotel has the best staff ever! Everyone that works here was friendly and always helpful. I stayed here for 4 nights and don’t have any complaints. The rooms was very spacious, and clean. They also included a microwave and mini fridge for no extra charge in every room. Myself and a number of my family members stayed at this hotel and were all pleased. We sometimes would gather in the dining area or out by the pool and we were never bothered by the staff. If fact one day while we were out at the pool, a staff member bought out a plate of warm chocolate chip cookies for us. I thought that was a really nice gesture.
I was a bit skepical when I read reviews on other websites that talked about how good the continental breakfast was, but those reviews were right on point! I have never had a continental breakfast that was actually worth waking up for! This one was, and they have different stuff every day. If you are looking for a good deal and great hotel to stay at while in Birmingham, Al, this is the hotel for you.
