Awesome local bar. It is a little small of a space but offers a lot. There is pool, darts, and shuffle board. The bartenders are really friendly and a juke box for fun music. Our favorite place to hang out.

Oh my word. So refreshing after a long drive in the heat. Great happy hour specials! If you’re hungry they can order delivery for you. New tender(blond Selena) is Super nice quick and helpful. We really like this vibe over Back alley and especially Rustys(didn’t have a good experience!) the other tender seemed nice too! Wide selection of drinks!

The owner Chris, is one of the nicest people you would ever want to meet. First of all, let me talk about cleanliness. You could eat in the restrooms. I have never in my whole life seen restrooms that clean and that tells you what the rest of the bar is like. You walk in and there is a pleasant clean smell. Unlike Rusty’s across the street when you walk in, you can smell the dirt, it literally sthinks and the restrooms are generally dirty. McMurry’s is a sports bar with four different video’s going at once of different games and tends to attract the younger crowd in town. Their pool tables are«open» in the afternoons, unlike across the street. Although I am older, I still feel young at heart and I love being around young people. They lift your spirits. There are elderly people that go in like myself also and they are very nice. The bartenders there give excellent service. They are right there for you when you need them. Employees are always smiling. You don’t have to flag them down at all. I would highly, highly recommend this bar for everyone. It is a pleasing experience. It will make your day I am sure of that. Everyone makes you feel right at home.

Visiting Bishop for some fishing. Looked for a sports bar to watch some So Cal sports. Great downtown location, prices are reasonable, very clean, and Christa the bartender and Justin the back bar are so friendly and actually care about customer service! Happy hour, and are VERYHAPPY to order food from a few of the local establishments. We were fortunate to experience Los Amigos! Delicious! Parking in the rear with a rear entrance.

Great Dive bar. Chris the owner is a very nice, friendly guy who seem to try to run a nice place. Nicole is an amazingly beautiful blonde bartender who is worth stopping in to just to say hi too. Gale also is nice on the eyes, a good sport, and the place seems to be fun. Drinks are cheap and strong, with Pool, Darts and Shuffleboard as well as lots of flat screen tv’s. Fun place to get your drink on.

Was bored on a Tuesday night in Bishop and thought I would leave my hotel room and look for some locals. The club scene in Bishop is pretty slow on a Tuesday night. The only customer in there was a drunk ex high school jock talking about how he «dominated» basketball in Bishop back in the 80’s. Bartender was a young guy and I thought he might come on over and engage me in the typical bartender questions of where you from, etc, but he didn’t do any of that. Nothing about the bar was unique or memorable, just your typical place.

I have never been too impressed with McMurry’s. In the 3 years I’ve been vacationing in Bishop this bar has changed identities 3 times. They can’t figure out what kind of bar they want to be. As of the last time I headed up there they are a dance club. The problem with that is that there is no room for a dance floor, the place is too small in general, the acoustics are terrible and the drinks are too expensive. I was standing right next to my fubby and couldn’t hear what he was trying to tell me. We each had one drink and couldn’t wait to get out of there.

Best service in town. Clean and inviting. You will get your drinks fast, regardless of how busy it is. Friendly staff. Great atmosphere. Newly remodeled. New owners. This establishment is on point.

In Bishop, when it’s humid and over 100 degrees, there’s a lot of reasons to drink, but not too many places to do it. So, you look to mainstay bar like McMurry’s. Everything in Bishop proper is within walking distance. Even though walking is a sure-fire buzz kill, it was only three tenths of a mile away from the hotel. Before we started our trek, I had the presence of mind to knock back a cold Miller High Life, just to keep my blood alcohol intact. You approach a place like McMurry’s not knowing what to expect, crusty locals, John Muir Trail hikers, outlaw bikers or maybe a scene like the«Blue Oyster Bar» from the Police Academy movie. You — just — don’t — know. At the threshold, my friend, Matt, announced, «pie the corner» but it was too late, we were in. Much to my surprise, it was a neat little spic & span joint. The bartender, a younger guy, quickly greeted us. Soon, we had a state of the art juke box fired up and were into some cold beers. It was late in the afternoon, so there wasn’t much going on. Aside from us, there was just a tipsy couple at the counter, who gave a hoot of approval for our old school music selections. Also there, a Mexican national with a screwed-down white cowboy hat, who was deep into his cocktail and nothing else. Of course, you can’t get a complete feel for a bar unless it is prime time, but I thought this place was worth the walk, even if it lacked a little character, like a few discernible .45 Long Colt bullet holes in the ceiling. Just expect a clean little no frills bar where you can pop-in, put your feet up, enjoy your drink and move on to the next watering hole.

I love this bar!!! I dont know what the old McMurry’s was like, but I love what they have done with the place! If you want a fun and energetic place to go, friday and saturdays are it! Troy and Chris are great, and no matter how packed it is, they try to get you a drink as fast as they can. Unlike other bars in this town that dont even make eye contact with you until they have time to help you, these guys dont ignore you and they treat you as if they want you there! I have never had as much fun in this town as I have at McMurry’s, and this is the only place i have seen them actually have to tell you to leave at 2 am! You guys rock! Keep it up ;)

If I had to describe this bar in one word it would be «sterile». I figure this place just opened so I’ll write this review giving them a bit more slack than I normally would. The biggest problem with McMurry’s Bar is the interior décor. Sure it’s clean… it even looks all new. However, whoever did the inside of this bar must be a Mormon. I mean, the contractor must have never been inside a bar before! The walls are masonry so the sound bounces of them like hell, it’s too bright and the TVs are positioned stupidly. Plus one star for the shuffleboard and free WiFi but minus one star for the bartender spending all his time on Facebook rather making sure my beer doesn’t need to be refilled.

This place is under new management and is a COMPLETELY new place. I grew up in Bishop and wouldn’t step foot in there for many good reasons. The new owners are young locals who also grew up in Bishop. The understand the bar scene and what Bishop’s scene lacks. Nice sized TV’s with sports on, good pricing on beers, great service, shuffleboard, and the much friendlier and younger crowd then at any of the other few bars in Bishop. 5 stars for the new management, cleaning it up, doing it right, and turning this place completely around!

This place really did a 180, no long is the place dark, smelled like vomit or knife and gun club. Inside the new McMurry’s is now lively, full of younger individuals and lots of TV’s. New owners are energetic and ambitious, treated everyone there like royalty. Dare I say it, I may actually come back to the bar scene again. Very happy the place did not close, instead its given a new lease on life and will continue to live on.

I second the other review for McMurry’s. We went to Rusty’s across the street last night so we decided to check out McMurrys tonight. We got ½ way thru our Miller HL before we noticed the t-shirt and got out of there as soon as we could finish our beer. Aside from the KKK décor, the bartender seemed like she was on a heavy dose of quayludes or something. I wouldn’t recommend this place.

Can you give a bad review based mostly on the décor of an establishment? Normally I’d so «no» but this place is the exception. I came here with a buddy over the summer and we bar hopped our way around the main drag in Bishop. We came in, sat down, and were given prompt service from the lady bartender. As expected, it was all Euro-Americans in here but no big deal for me — I’ll frequent any bar that’ll serve me. But what got me was on my trip to the bathroom. One of the walls prominently displayed a T-shirt that said, «The Original Boys in the Hood» and underneath it had a picture of KKK clansmen dressed in their white hooded outfits! When I got back, I told my buddy about it and he checked it out(he’s white btw) and he freaked out too. We then promplty finished our drinks and got the hell out of there. I’lll give an extra star for the pro service from the bartender but there’s no excuse to have something like that T-shirt displayed in an establishment in California.
