I don’t understand how it can take 55 minutes to be served in a 10 table restaurant with eggs and pancakes the primary breakfast order. They comped our 2 drinks for the wait. Food was ok. 3 different groups came in, were told a 35 minute wait and left. Shouldn’t be losing business due to slow service. Hire another cook.

Worst service ever! Waited about 15 minutes for a table only to be basically told to leave. Told us the food would«take a while, if you don’t want to wait», we said we were ok with that, then told again, «at least 45 minutes, do you really want to wait? It’s going to be a really long time.» Left hungry and unhappy.

Not clean. Not sure why this place is busy. Although staff is nice, kitchen and bathroom are dirty. We ended up not staying because of that appearance. Went down the street to Country Kitchen in Big Pine, CA.

Little hole in the wall. Diamond in the rough. Friendly staff with delicious breakfast choices. Recommend people to go here on the way to mammoth.

My buddy and I were up fly fishing for a few days and were looking for a different breakfast venue and luckily discovered the Village café. A solid menu, the specials were a wide assortment, including two types of eggs Benedict, the huevos rancheros, which I had. Conway opted for the country fried steak. We loved it and will go back. It’s our favorite breakfast nook in Bishop now.

Nice little kick back breakfast place. The food and service were pretty good. The only thing I wasn’t crazy about was the coffee… tasted like it was brewed in a Mr. Coffee machine. Other than that, a good alternative to Jack’s for breakfast.

Slow service. Odd/quirky décor. Nothing fancy here, but if you’re looking for some delicious, home-style breakfast, this is your spot. The house made corned beef hash and yum biscuits n gravy. I’d say if you’ve got the time and the appetite, get in there.

The worst place I have been to and I didn’t even get to try the food. After calling ahead for a table because we had a larger group, and not getting drinks for the first 15 mins after sitting, we were told that our food would take a little bit because we had a larger group, 35 mins she said. Well after 1 hour of waiting(this was just after we placed our order) we asked how much longer it would be. We were told our ticket was next… as in NOTEVENSTARTED! We promptly left with kids screaming because they were starving. They couldn’t even give us the decency to update us that it would be longer. Worst service I have ever encountered!

The Village Café is not Newport Beach! Bishop is a small home town Café town. Not sure what«people that have bad reviews» came from, about the Village Café but shame on them. The food is very good and the staff are very polite and speak excellent English.

Village Café is a small town café w great home style food! The food is excellent and that’s what counts. Outside seating if you have a dog! Polite and friendly servers that are attentive. Try the diced ham and scrambled eggs w cheese or an omelette(frittata). Biscuits and gravy is super yummy too! Best place in town for breakfast! Back again on Aug 29th! See pics…

I haven’t stopped by here in more than two years and things seemed to have gone downhill since. After a long, freezing night camping in the wilderness the Village Café was my first experience back in civilization. I was seated pretty quickly at what seemed like the worst table in the restaurant– a small 2 person table right next to the door even tho there were tons of other empty seats. The next problem was was my chair:1/3 of the cushion was either rotten or torn off leaving a very uncomfortable seat. I then had to swap chairs myself. They also didn’t bring me any cream/milk for my coffee so I grabbed some from the next table. These are little things but I kinda expected more after my positive experience in 2011. My South Western Fitata wasn’t bad. but a tad heavy on cheese and small on egg. Biscuits and Gravy was so so.
