It’s come a long way… great service, great bar, food is expensive, but good. One problem, husband ordered the stew, waaaaaaay to many onions

I went to a company Christmas party here, and it was excellent all around! Kayla, our server in the bar, was helpful, knowledgeable, and just pleasant through the whole thing. My boss got drunk and was being a jerk to her for no reason, and she handled the situation with professionalism, and a smile! The food was really good as well, however the service is what really sticks out for me. I would recommend this restaurant to all of my friends after this trip there. If it hadn’t been for my boss, it would have been a perfect meal! I wish this kind of service was at every restaurant I go to!

I loved this place. Waitress(Mandy) was very knowledgeable about the menu and drinks. The ambiance was fantastic and the food amazing, it’s too bad some have had bad experiences. I was very worried that it was going to be awful so I was constantly looking for something to be wrong. Nothing was less than awesome. Love this place and would recommend it very highly.

Don’t have time for a full write up, but the service was fantastic and the food was perfect. The new management has done a wonderful job.

Don’t understand why everyone has given this place such awful reviews! We live close to this place and it is one of our favorites! The service has always been phenomenal and we have been treated very well. Their food is expensive sure but the quality is definitely there. Their steaks are always cooked perfectly and their fried calamari app is one of the best I’ve ever had!

40 looked to have great potential. The décor and layout is great but not in the best area for impressing clients or a date. I had great setvice from the hostess to the waiter and appreciate their selection of scotch. The room I was in was way too loud! I could hear every tables conversation and at times it was ear bursting. The food was OK at best. Since it was my first time I tried a little of everything. The calamari was bland and the pieces were small. The bisque was good but the lobster they put in was ICE cold. My steak was a good cut but way over cooked and not seasones very well or at all. I was looking forward to this place but was a bit disappointed afterwards.

If I didn’t live 800 miles away I still would never come back. $ 95 bucks for a fair steak and not much Halibut with quinoa full of raw onions. OK points for imagination, but points off for completion. Slow service. The woman in the booth next to us brought a dog! A restaurant that seats someone with a dog doesn’t need me. I have a dog, but I’ve never taken him to a restaurant. Pass on this one.

This place has character. It also happens to have a creative and delicious quality menu. Not a place for an every other night chow down but it’s always a great place for delicious drinks! The seafood is the freshest in Bismarck and you can taste the difference. The building is saturated with character and the ambiance is like nothing in the city. Try it out next time you’re craving a quality cut of beef or some excellent seafood!

Never a very good experience here. Took about 15 minutes to get our drinks ordered, and the restaurant wasn’t even half full. The calamari didn’t taste like anything, the bacon appetizer was three chunks of fat. Had the $ 16 lobster roll that was maybe 4 bites of blandness. The dessert was crème brûlée cheesecake — sounds amazing! In reality it was a half inch tall dry piece of crème brûlée on top of graham cracker crust. Really, really bad. Steak was over cooked. Overpriced, poor service, subpar food. Will not come back here again.

Terrible food, Tuna Tartare was not good and the rest was over priced. My waitress was absent most the night.

Went to this restaurant since it was close to the Days Inn hotel and recommended by the staff. The décor is unique if you like Gothic influences(dark interior, heavy wood paneling, and faux stained glass). The wine menu is selective if you choose to order by the glass. The food was decent for quality filet mignon(5 oz priced at $ 28) However, the typical side of a baked potato was not available. Instead you got to choose breakfast potatoes or potatoes au gratin with creamy Brussel sprouts– the latter which I highly recommend!

First time eating since the reopen and probably won’t return. My wife and I both ordered a medium filet with potatoes. The shrimp cocktail appetizer was fresh and great. It did take over an hour to receive our meal. There was only one other table in our section. Maybe 5 other people in the entire restaurant. My filet was well done and hers was medium well. Very little pink in the center. The potatoes were cold and very bland. For a place that prides themselves on «fresh». They may wish to try harder. Definitely not worth the cost, we will eat at Texas Roadhouse if we want a steak dinner from now on.

First off, I rated at 3 stars because my past visits have been perfect 5 star visits, but valentines day was definately one to bring the average down. The food was delicious and the service was incredible as always, however after sitting down to order we ran into the«we are out of _____» scenario which I’ve only ran into at small town restaurants. Needless to say after an entire day fantasizing about that enormous cowboy ribeye and loaded baked potato it is a little dissapointing to find out you will be having neither of them. Unfortunately they had run out of the cowboy ribeye(which they do advertise as limited, however on a traditional«go out to dinner» holiday, they should be more than prepared for the demand) they were also out of every single potato side and only had snap peas and one other side I can’t recall. They were also out of many of their seafood items. I give constant recomondations for this restaurant and was embarassed when the couple we convinced to go with us was unable to order the things they wanted, and the same happened to us. I think we all felt like we were a decent amount of money to eat whatever they had left, which is unacceptable for a restaurant of its class. I used to think of the 40 and peacock alley as comparable quality restaurants with only slight differences in terms of quality that were mainly determined by personal preference. However after the past experience I would be very reluctant to choose it over peacock alley. I can’t emphasize enough how good the service and the quality of food served was, the server seemed truly apologetic and knew that it was a pretty bad deal, and the food tasted as good as ever, just wasn’t what we had wanted. I would summarize my experiences as so, 9⁄10 times this is a 5 star place, but 1⁄10 times I would have rather ate at Texas Roadhouse so take that how you will.

The service was great. The only problem I had was the food, and it seemed like I wasn’t the only one. A couple at the table near my party complained to the manager about bland food, among other things. When I got my food, the mac & cheese I had got was warm on the top, the bowl was warm, but the middle was cold. I also don’t like sweet mac and cheese. When I told the waitress, she said that when she orders it, it’s cold, too. I think that should be a red flag if the waitress even gets her food cold.

Went on Friday night. 8:30. Had apparently sent most of help home. Terribly disappointed in service. Looking forward to a fantastic experience. It totally fell short on many levels. So disappointed. Very pricey for what was offered. Seriously doubt we will return.

Took a client here last week. This is the third time I have been here since the«re-do». Every time the service has been terrible. We sat in the bar to have dinner, and they forgot to bring our salads(after an enormous wait) and then when asking for the salads, then brought the wrong ones. I was embarrassed to say the least. Its unfortunate because I want this place to succeed, but three strikes and… out.

Large place with cozy rooms giving a nice atmosphere. Reservations suggested but walk-ins welcome in the bar area. The bar area has a fireplace and dining tables. Amazing food and extended wine list.

Attractive building outside and inside. Cozy atmosphere with numerous fireplaces on a cold evening. The service was good. The food is a bit pricey and so-so. Different menu every evening. Wasn’t very busy for some reason.
