This is, without a doubt, the best place to eat in Black Mountain. Everything is fresh made and delicious. In fact, one of my group ordered potato salad but they hadn’t had time to make it(which I only mention because it shows that it is fresh). They had about eight kinds of soup, but I went for the burger. It was so large it comes on a sub roll! The place fills up quickly, and the parking lot is tiny. There seemed to be a larger lot close by, possibly shared with a coffee shop. Get there early and you don’t have to worry about it!

If you like a Ruben, you must have one here. Staff is friendly. You order at the window and sit down at the table and wait for the perfection to arrive. Kids menu is open to all ages. My daughter had the kids burger and loved it. My wife and son had the California Cobb salad and swore that it was one of the best they had, saying the chicken was the perfect texture and everything was fresh. The Ruben was on thick marble rye, loaded with a balance of dressing, swiss cheese and pastrami that is the gold standard by which I will judge all Rubens from here on out.

Nice selection of breakfast sandwiches. We tried bacon and egg on an everything bagel with cream cheese. They were pretty good but we were not expecting the bacon to be chopped up in pieces and scrambled with the eggs. Otherwise it was a good sandwich. Others in our group tried the wraps and the sandwiches with white bread and they were pretty satisfied too.

A little different when you walk in, we were unsure to sit down or wait in line. Finally figured out to order then find a table. It is a small place, yet the food was excellent. It was not over the top, yet well cooked, and great taste. A few places to eat outside, we chose to eat in due to the road noise. Look forward to trying something new next time. The soup menu is huge! Wonderful down home cooking.

I was in search for great breakfest, and I found it. A+++ I had the eggs, bacon, cheese sandwich with a side of grits. Everyone was friendly. Great local spot.

Gateway is an adorable place and is very fitting if you desire a homemade, yummy lunch or brunch. The building is really interesting, basically three sides of it us made up of large windows, which let’s some nice light in. I hope they get gluten free bread soon, because I love their BLAST sandwich(bacon, lettuce, avocado, swiss, tomato). They always have multiple amazing soups, too, everyday! Try the chicken enchilada soup if you don’t mind a little spice, it’s delicious! When I get breakfast for lunch I normally do the breakfast potatoes loaded up with cheese, jalapeños, bacon, and sour cream. Your welcome. Oh, and the other day I had the special — a BBQ sandwich topped with cheddar and onions served with fries. It was gooey, amazing goodness… they even let me add slaw on it for no additional charge, how nice! My only complaint would be that the salads seem a tad bit overpriced. Definitely a spot to check out. Afterwards, get a delicious coffee drink from Dynamite Coffee which is right beside of it! Perfect midday outing, both with really nice outdoor seating.

This cute little place takes fast food to a higher plane! Fresh ingredients, friendly service, amazing chef. Eat indoors or out. Be creative and ask for your favorite combination. If they have the ingredients they will fix it for you. Just outstanding!

Gateway Eatery is a hidden gem, located right next door to possibly one of the best coffee roasters in the Asheville/Black Mountain area. Upon entering Gateway and examining the menu, I decided on a breakfast sandwich on a homemade everything bagel. The woman who took our order was wonderful, she was so friendly, explained the menu well and so genuine; it really made the whole experience wonderful. The sandwich itself was great, I chose bacon, cheddar, jalapenos and roasted red pepper with a fried egg. The only thing I would’ve added was more jalapenos(my boyfriend said his bagel was light on the bacon, but I couldn’t complain about mine!) We decided to take our breakfast to go and ate it next door on the porch of Dynamite Coffee with a latte on the side. I would definitely make my way back to Gateway Eatery for a bite to eat, great experience, great staff and a homey space.

Pretty good food selection. Not much seating, so we typically get our food to go. I would recommend it if you’re in the Black Mountain or Swannanoa, NC area.
