Enjoyable bar experience with the option for fine dining. This was a bit confusing upon first entering 622 North if you are coming from the back entrance you’ll go directly into the bar area or you can take the suggestion from the sign to walk around the porch to go in front. We chose to go through the bar which can be a little awkward if you are on a date and are expecting a restaurant atmosphere, which they have, but go around front for that. The 622 North restaurant looked very nice with waiters in ties telling patrons about the specials. They have a nice selection of beers, cocktails, and wines. Alas we were in jeans and flannel so we felt more comfortable in the bar. We did not notice a dress code in 622 North, so check it out. We plan to. The bar is a seat yourself kind of place with two pool tables. They have a menu of appetizers, burgers, salads, and entrees. We chose cheese fries, a charcuterie board, and chicken dip. All of these were great and we’d get them again. We were very pleased with the beer options from wheats to pales to stouts and they even had five hard ciders to choose from, most of them from Virginia. They have quite a number of beers on tap and a hard cider, with reasonable prices so we’ll be back! Service was very friendly, prompt, and attentive. Overall great experience and would recommend either place if you are looking for good drinks and food.

We were in the Blacksburg area this past weekend for a 16 mile hike(yes, you read that right, SIXTEENMILES, yikes!) and on Sunday, post Saturday-massive-hike-day we were in the mood for some tasty brunch! Our friend who lives in town recommended 622 North and am I glad he did! This place was so cute! The inside looks like an adorable house, with different rooms, stairs, etc. It’s very well decorated and spaced out. We got there at 10:20 or so and waited about 30 minutes for a table, not too bad considering it’s prime brunch time and we didn’t have a reservation. We were sat in the sort of second level, right next to a bookcase, which was perfect for my bookworm hubs who immediately picked up a book and told me how much he loved it! Great start to our brunch! The waiter was friendly and got our order in no time. We were starving(again, 16 excruciating miles the day before) so we ordered quite a bit(also, the prices, as compared to DC were amazing). I had the smoken salmon eggs benedict, as well as some pancakes(lol, don’t judge, kthanks) and my hubs had biscuits and gravy and also some pancakes! The food was delish! The eggs benie were a small portion, but yay I had pancakes too! The pancakes were perfect. Definitely a lovely spot for brunch, I recommend it if you find yourself in town!

This place is incredibly cute, and if you’re looking for a sat-sun brunch place, this is it! Other brunch places are too packed and crowded, but 622 is well put together, and don’t have to worry about yelling across the table to carry on a conversation. If you’re a fan of mimosas, definitely get the pitcher for your group — you’d be saving money that way! It’s made it sparkling wine and not champagne, so it’s a bit stronger! All their brunch dishes are great! Don’t doubt them, and just order what pops out to you the most! Portions are great too!

This review and rating is for the brunch menu at 622. When I was an undergrad, I went to Frank’s for a few shows, but I never felt compelled to try the 622 restaurant because their food and drinks are on the pricier side for a college town. I had no idea that they serve brunch here every Saturday and Sunday, but it was apparent that this is a popular spot for many Blacksburg locals. My group and I waited for over an hour to be seated. Despite the long wait, the hostesses were accommodating and told us that we could also order from the brunch menu at the bar. We opted to wait outside on 622’s deck while sipping mimosas and enjoying the beautiful Blacksburg fall weather instead.(The mimosas were about $ 5, but it is mostly champagne with a splash of orange juice. Definitely worth it, especially if you decide to wait for the dining room.) If you’ve only been to Frank’s, you need to walk a couple steps to the right of the bar and through the little waiting nook in order to reach the dining room. It is a cute space with books, wine bottles, and other knick knacks on shelves lining the wall. On the day that we went, there was plenty of sunlight to bring warmth and brightness into the room. There’s a lot of charm in general, which you need to experience for yourself. Most of the people in our party ordered the Pancake Club and ended up essentially licking their plates clean. It was also our server’s favorite brunch item and he recommended it to us at the beginning of the meal. I, however, cannot and will not pass up chicken and waffles if it is an option. No complaints here… I would go so far as to say that 622 has the best chicken and waffles in town. The dish comes in the form of two waffle sandwiches, which includes two pieces of fried chicken(1 per sandwich), andouille sausage gravy, yellow mustard, pickled peppers and tomato. The chicken was crispy and well seasoned, while also maintaining its warmth and juiciness on the inside. I was also pleased to find that the waffle was still soft and didn’t have that hard, crunchy characteristic to it. More importantly, the textures and flavors were perfectly balanced. The pickled peppers and tomato slices worked in tandem to lift the heavy nature of the fried chicken and waffles combination. ANDALLOFTHISCAMEOUTTO $ 11 and some change(yes, including tip)! Between the friendly staff, cozy ambience, affordable prices, and the delicious food, I have to hand it to 622. They know their brunch and I wish I found out about their weekend brunch before graduating. I’ll definitely be eating here again next time I visit Blacksburg!

My boyfriend and I went to dinner here, the appetizers were good we ordered the cheese board and the 622 salad. I was extremely upset with my entrée though. I ordered a plain cheese burger medium and it was rare when it came out. They made me a new one and they charred it so much on the outside that I couldn’t eat it! The waiter took the burger off the bill but I was mad because it’s not hard to cook a burger… The waiter took a long time to give us our bill when he was talking with co workers and putting the napkins and silverware together. I don’t recommend this restaurant nor would I ever come back because of my entrée and service.

Excellent service the food was exceptional, my steak was great. We loved the fried green tomatoes. Was great seeing all the families enjoying their meals.

I love this place, especially Frank’s(the bar in the back). Great beer, greater food and a cool staff. It’s a good place to escape the throngs of Virginia Tech students that flood downtown.

Well, I wish I could give a better review, I really do. But 622N bar area just hasn’t been the same lately and I just don’t see going back any time soon. This used to be my favorite place for beer in the area. But the interior needs updating badly, the beer is expensive, the service sucks, and the AC is on the roaps on a hot night. Last time I had the cheese platter it was sad compared to what it should be(go to Blue Mountain to see a nice one). Burger was overcooked. Beer selection was OK but expensive. I guess their price reference is the BB Taphouse, which is also overpriced. I’ve been here many times and the place is headed in the wrong direction. Dissappointing, I used to like this place.

Had dinner and was disappointed because my husband and I left hungry!!! I had the short rib special with polenta and Brussels sprouts($ 20) and my husband had a seafood linguine pasta with mussels and scallops($ 17). We also ordered a bottle of wine for($ 31). I get that the dishes are not too pricy, but I hate leaving hungry. The linguine portion was very small and the scallops were the width of a dime. Linguine is not expensive. It would not have cost them anything to dump two more spoons on the plate. The ribs were actually only one rib. After I removed the fat rapped around it and the bone, it was just a small piece of meat. It was slightly over cooked. The polenta had good flavor. They have a nice wine selection. We chose a great bottle and enjoyed. Our waiter was attentive and kept our glasses full. There are linens on the table but paper torn off of a roll on top of that. We found this to be uncomfortable and juvenile. Either have linens or don’t. I felt like my husband and I should have been coloring with crayola crayons as we were drinking our bottle of wine! We decided not to do dessert because we were still hungry for a dinner option. I would go back here and have wine, but I probably would not want to eat dinner, because we dropped $ 87 with tip, left hungry, and thought the food was middle of the road.

My husband and I dined here for dinner for our anniversary. Our previous visits had been spot on, however last night the food was sub-par to say the least. As another reviewer mentioned, the ambiance, menu, décor, and service are all perfect at 622. It’s a wonderful place to go for cocktails or wine. However, they must have a new chef since the food was definitely not up to expectations. I had the special– Thai Crab Pasta. It came out looking like something I might see on a commercial for Friskies cat food. It was mushy and the only flavor was chili sauce. My husband had the duck which was not crispy on the outside and the portion looked like an appetizer. His side didn’t even make up for the lack of meat… a few whisps of veggies. I know this is picky, but the other complaint I have with this place is that they don’t serve bread. You have to pay for it as an appetizer. It’s listed on the menu as a «loaf, but it comes out as 4 pieces and you are charged $ 3 for plain white bread. Come on! So, my advice is not to go here for food. Cocktails and wine are their forte… until they hire a new chef.

I have no clue how this place has less than 5 stars — it is hands down the best restaurant in Blacksburg. The staff is amazing and everything I’ve eaten and drank has been spectacular.

Preliminary review. Have eaten there once and thought it just okay. This was at a reserved Halloween party in their upstairs. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger that was overdone and not what I ordered. it was expensive too. I gave it a «meh» review and was kindly offered a free meal by the owner but never took it up. Well, I made reservations with my wife for St. Valentine’s Day and am hoping for something much better. I know how my wife loves Lefty’s and this is the same owner. I will do my part to make the experience pleasant as a positive attitude could make a difference too. I will come back and change this review if it turns out well.

I have eaten in the downstairs bar multiple times in the last few months, everything has been really good from the meatloaf sandwich, drummies, salmon, strawberry grilled cheese. Nice beer selections at good prices.

This is the perfect place to go in Blacksburg for good wine and cocktails. Great ambiance, menu, décor, and service. Unfortunately, execution on food is 2⁄10. Their soup of the day was a watery, flavorless chili. The salad was less than fresh without much flavor and served with bottled dressing on the side. Both of our appetizers were slightly off flavor, not-quite-cooked-properly versions of upscale bar classics. I also had the ravioli entrée, which was way too sweet: creamy butternut squash sauce with raisins, cranberries, and mushrooms. In retrospect it doesn’t sound very good, but I expected the primary flavors to be bacon and fresh sage, which would have excused the $ 17 price tag were they present in the dish. I’ll definitely be back for more cocktails, but will order my food much more carefully next time.

Came here for dinner last weekend. The food was subpar for the $$$ it was. The one thing I really enjoyed was the Spinach and Artichoke dip. Definitely one of the best in Blacksburg. But with everything else… subpar taste. I do want to come back here for brunch, since that’s what everyone says is best.

We came here for brunch on a Sunday morning. I ordered the tomatillo Bloody Mary and it was good. If you like salsa you will like this bloody. The other two people in my party got classic bloodys and they said they were not the best they have ever had, but good. I had the BLT with an egg and it was great! It was exactly what I needed and the bread they used was excellent. It did not fall apart on me and was neat to eat. My boyfriend said the chicken and waffles were different. They had a small amount of gravy as well as mustard and peppers. He said the mustard and peppers kind of threw him off a little bit. We all split the southwest scramble and it was super yummy. The hash browns are also excellent. Great place for brunch. I will be back and I will probably get a BLT again!

For this price, I expected a much better dinner. I would say that service was fantastic except that when my soup course came out it was not only scalded, it smelled like burning. The waiter served it without blinking an eye: any place that takes pride in its food should never have let that food touch the table. It was very disappointing. The main meal was cooked fine, seasoned okay, and priced in a way where I should be using words like«excellent,» or «delicious.» Overall, I’ll not be returning. I hear their drinks are pretty tasty though so if that’s what you’re there for, enjoy. And if you’re there for the pretentiousness, well, enjoy that as well.

My sister talked me into checking out 622’s brunch while visiting her at school one weekend. I reluctantly said yes thinking this is a small college town, how good can food be? Well, it was definitely much better than what I had expected. The host greeted us as soon as we entered the restaurant, and quickly seated us in a booth. Thank god we arrived before the brunch rush hit as suggested by my sister’s friends. I really enjoyed the homey interior decors which was very welcoming. My server was extremely polite and attentive, refiling my coffee whenever it became empty. The food was pretty good, though most of the menu items were pretty normal stuff you can get at any other restaurants. Perhaps expanding their menu selection with more unique dishes may attract more customers to the restaurant? Going to try out this place again for dinner on my next visit to Blacksburg, and hope the experience is as good as the last.

This 4-star review is the rounded-up average of the 2.5-star bar on the side of the building, visited at comedy night, and the 5-star brunch spot, visited on a Sunday afternoon. The comedy night was pretty irritating; the bouncer proceeded to YELL at everyone in the bar for an hour straight, delaying the show. He then announced raffle results for a local fundraiser. Now, I understand the philanthropic reason for the raffle, but it could have been handled MUCH more smoothly and shouldn’t have all been announced at once, before the already-late show. The first two acts were not particularly special but I wasn’t expecting Demetri Martin… The last act was decent but the comedian was a bit too smarmy for my taste. Raunchy isn’t ALWAYS funny, you know? Now, onto the BESTBRUNCHEVER. Cream-cheese-and-raspberry stuffed brioche french toast with key lime pie ice cream. Visualize it. Yeah it was THAT good. The ice cream was mild but interesting, with pie crust bits inside, and a nice bright green color(in the good way…). The french toast itself was hot, so the cream-cheese and raspberry goodness was melty and wonderful. The orange juice was thumbs down, expensive and small, but not a big deal. My friends enjoyed their various egg dishes and such, but oh man, that french toast was so good. Oh! The biscuits were very good, too(very similar to Red Lobster cheddar bay biscuits).
