Tasty, fresh tacos with ingredients that are clearly house made/prepared. The margaritas were pretty solid as well. Service was great. Food came up quick and server was friendly and attentive. While my wife and I only had tacos, the other food coming out looked delicious as well. The sides weren’t bad but could have been better. Sides we had were guacamole pasta salad, rice and beans, and mexi-slaw. They all seemed to lack the flavor that wants me make more but that was honestly the only low point but for the price, still 5 stars.

I had the Garlic Buffalo Shrimp taco after my friend insisted… more like after my friend demanded that I ignore everything else on the menu, but I was not disappointed. An excellent first time experience. Definitely worth it.

This location reminded me of the first time I ate at the CLT restaurant. The last time I ate at the CLT location, the taco’s were not as good as previous visits. I had to do the BBQ Mahi taco’s so I’d have a true comparison. They were exactly what I expected and the reason I wanted to eat here. The fish was cooked perfect and the shells were not greasy. The co-worker that was with me actually was with me last trip to the CLT location. He agreed this location was on point with the food. Our waitress was great and she didn’t miss a beat the entire meal. The beers came out quick and the food was ready in about 10 minutes after ordering. I sat outside and enjoyed the nice weather. There were quite a few people there on the patio as well. If you’re wanting to sit out there I would get there before 6:30pm to get a seat. Small parking lot but there is plenty of street parking and other lots nearby. Just a nugget… I spoke to a guy who cooks at this place who works at a nearby hotel. He explained how serious they take their food. Enjoyed talking with him about how they prep and cook the dishes we all love.

Great place for dinner & drinks! They have several margaritas to choose from, as well as wine and beer. I ordered the Purple Haze margarita and Perfect Wave margarita. I enjoyed them both. Not weak and pretty yummy! All of the taco entrees come with two tacos and a side. They have signature and specialty taco lists that you can mix and match from. I ordered a Soy Ginger Shrimp Taco and a Tavarua Tuna Taco with a side of guacamole pasta. The Soy Ginger Shrimp Taco was sooo good!!! Very yummy & flavorful! Didn’t really taste the ginger in the soy ginger glaze, but that’s fine with me since I’m not really a fan of ginger anyway. The Tavarua Tuna Taco unfortunately wasn’t as good, and it was also kind of dry. The guacamole pasta was good, but I’d probably order a different side if I dined here again since they had a few others that sounded pretty appetizing as well.

The fried calamari is amazing, much better than the usual chain restaurant fare. Get that as your appetizer. The tacos were honestly kind of hit or miss. Nice atmosphere inside though with what looked like soft natural light that wasn’t too bright. They could get rid of a few TVs though IMO.

My absolute FAVORITE place to eat in all of Blacksburg. It’s pretty much a crime to not stop by and get the ginger soy shrimp tacos with pasta salad on the side if you’re in town. I crave this food in my sleep. Seriously though I can’t give this place enough stars. If you don’t have time to order in just call ahead for pickup and they’ll have your food ready at the bar in ten minutes or less! Possibly my favorite food in all the world actually. Great service too! You won’t be disappointed.

If you haven’t been to Cabo Fish Taco, do yourself a favor and pay them a visit if you’re ever in Blacksburg! This is hands down the best restaurant in Blacksburg! I live in Miami now and I constantly crave Cabo. Whenever I’m back in town this is the first place I visit. It’s that good. To start, every table gets complimentary chips and chunky salsa. The chunky salsa is some mix of tomatoes, jalapenos, corn and cilantro– fantastic way to start the meal. For your main meal you HAVE to try their tacos. Any of them. They’re all good. My favorites are the lemon grilled shrimp or the calamari. You get to choose 1 side with your tacos and I always opt for the guacamole pasta salad– it’s amazing. Their margaritas are also quite good! For those on a budget they have the«El Cheapo» or «Workmans» margaritas that are under $ 5. Finally, the ambiance is fantastic. The building was constructed in 1848 and was originally a church. The décor is interesting and the staff is always super friendly. Make sure to try this place if you’re ever in the area– you won’t regret it!

This place gets 2 stars! Off the top I was taken back that house margarita frozen cost more than one on the rocks. To have my drink brought over & it’s all minced ice chunks & watered down margarita! Gross! Sweet waitress, doesn’t multitask well. She seemed overwhelmed & I felt bad for her. The restaurant didn’t look prepared for the crowd they received. My food was super late; some friends of mine came in after me & got their food 20mins… keep in mind we were already waiting a while already. I’ll spare you the details of the texture & taste of my food just know that it was not great. Overall, I wasn’t impressed nor will I return.

Late dinner was incredibly tasty. Free tortilla chips with corn and tomatoes while you wait. Amazing. Plus, they refill it for you when you run out. BBQ Mahi Tacos were moist and flavorful. Caborita was on the salty side. Avocado pasta as a side was good, but needed more flavor. Would I get this dish again? Heck yeah. It’s very filling and so delish. Only thing I would change would be getting a different side to try something new. Overall, I would come back here again and try some of the other menu items because the quality of their food is great.

I don’t know a single person who doesn’t love Cabo. From the salsa they bring out when you first sit down to the tacos to the margs and everything else in between. Their margaritas are great because they don’t taste as sugary and syrupy as other margarita mixes and they have a large selection. They also have every brand of tequila known to man. You can’t go wrong with their tacos. I personally love the grilled serrano chicken, but I’ve tried others and they’re delicious too. There’s just something about the white sauce they put on top. All of the sides are great, but the jalapeño mashers are definitely the crowd pleaser. I’ve eaten here more times than I can remember and it’s just as amazing every time I go back. I really wish I could find one closer to me, since I no longer live in Blacksburg and can only eat there when I visit(shoutout to Nova — can we get a Cabo up here?). But I go back every time, no matter what the wait time is.

Anyone who thinks this place is «good» is probably from VA, and wouldn’t know good Mexican food if it slapped them in the face. I’ve never had any kind of taco served on a single taco shell before, aside from Taco Bell. Their food is comparable, although slightly more exotic, I suppose. Good atmosphere, but not the kind of food you’d get at a normal, «traditional» taqueria. Blah.

Just thinking about Cabo makes my mouth water… Every time I visit Blacksburg, I go to Cabo. And pretty much every time I go to Cabo I order the same thing: Buffalo Shrimp tacos and an El Cheapo margarita. The shrimp tacos are spicy and satisfying, and the El Cheapo(made with a combination of orange and lime juices) is only $ 4. With the tacos, you also get the choice of one side. I generally get the jalapeño mashers but like to try the rotating special sides, too. Some of my happiest memories in college involve sitting on the patio at Cabo, eating the chips and corn salsa that come with the meal, and sipping margaritas. You cannot beat the experience that Cabo provides. ***I should note that the first time I ate at Cabo, it was after a decent amount of protest. I insisted that I didn’t like fish tacos, so I wouldn’t like Cabo. I was wrong on both counts — it turns out that I do, in fact, like fish tacos(after giving them a try at Cabo). But even if I hadn’t, there are plenty of delicious meals on the menu that don’t involve fish!

Best Mexican food in Blacksburg… Even better atmosphere. My favorite stop before or after gameday, not a bad area to park if you’re going to a football game(not in their lot, you could get towed) but behind there is a church that offers affordable gameday parking spots and it’s a short walk past the university bookstore(swag) and then on to the stadium. Try any one of their fancy margs, they offer great drink specials, or if you’re feeling frisky, join the tequila club and try all of their huge selection of tequilas!

Dude, go to Cabo. If you’ve never been, you owe it to yourself to go check it out at least once. My favorite there are the buffalo shrimp tacos. They’re fresh and spicy and full of flavor. My husband isn’t a big fish fan but he really enjoys the southwest chicken wrap. My 5 year old son really likes their quesadilla too! Bonus points be being super fast to bring out food AND having superb outdoor seating. Like most downtown Blacksburg restaurants, parking isn’t ideal but better than most and I *think* cabo validates parking for the kent square garage right across the street but I could be wrong. If so, there’s usually a spot back on church street.

I’m always pleased when we go to Cabo. It’s easy, good food and great Margaritas! The Gold Coast(I think that’s what it’s called) is my favorite. We love sitting outside on a beautiful summer night.

I don’t know if it’s a good or bad thing that Cabo Fish Taco opened after I graduated. Had I been at Tech when it opened, I know I would have been there REGULARLY. My bank account, however, would have taken a serious hit. Now it’s a restaurant my husband and I can look forward to on our frequent visits to Blacksburg. The chips and corn salsa is amazing with a perfect level of spice. I highly recommend the Caborita, which is a step up from their basic margarita(The Workman, also very good). As far as tacos, I’ve never had one I didn’t like. I LOVE the Soy Ginger Shrimp tacos, so I always get one of those and usually mix it up with one of the house specials. If for some reason the specials don’t sound appetizing(which is super rare for me), I go with a blackened mahi mahi taco. I always mix it up with the sides, but you can’t go wrong with jalapeño mashers or Baja rice. Also, they have a great kids menu. We usually get the chicken burrito and it’s more than enough for our two kids. Know in advance that Cabo will be busy if the students are in town. My husband and I tried to take this into account this weekend by showing up at 6pm and there was already a wait. We just decided to eat at the bar since it was just us. It just shows you how good this place is, though!

Oh my gosh. I’m usually not a huge fan of tacos, and normally I never crave one, but I could eat the taco’s here for days. The tacos at Cabo Fish Taco are amazing. Not only do the ingredients taste fresh, but they’re full of flavor as well. My favorite component of it was probably the taco shell. I absolutely LOVED the texture — it was chewy, yet crispy with the perfect amount of flakiness. I’m not sure how to accurately describe the shell, but it was hot and delicious. I got the lemon grilled tuna with baja rice and my friend got the blackened mahi-mahi. The baja rice was okay to me, but the combination of the fish and the sauce that came on top of the taco was extremely flavorful and tasty; however, I would recommend not getting both the blackened mahi-mahi and lemon grilled tuna because I found that both fishes tasted very similar. Overall, really good service and food! It leaves you feeling pretty full because of all the complimentary chips and salsa, and the perfect tacos to top it off!

I have had the privilege of eating at the DDD flagship Cabo in Charlotte plus 3 visits to this Blacksburg location. The Cabo patio is the place here as Charlotte’s patio is the porch area in front. All the dining areas inside and out are comfortable and inviting. Service is always good, southern hospitality is key. The staff are all attentive fast and enthusiastic. The food is always good you can’t go wrong with any choice. The tacos are puffy which is a nice touch and not very common you will dig it. Variety is apparent and there is no problem mixing and matching items, the servers will help. They get it right, I tend to complicate my orders and each time here the delivery to the table was accurate. My blackened Tuna Taco and Tequila Rock fish taco really blew me away. 2 is enough for me but I was so tempted to get 2 more. Trying to practice a little more will power. Cabo Fish Taco is the MUST Try restaurant in Blacksburg VA!

Get the soy ginger tacos, you’ll thank me later. El Cheapo margarita is also really good for a good price. Usually busy and loud, but the food is always good and the servers nice.
