Rude. I didn’t even go in– I called them to ask a question and they were extremely rude. I called East Coaster with the same question and they were kind and helpful. EC got my business.

Great bike shop. lots of turnover at bike barn, more experience/expertise at Hokie Spokes. i needed someone to devote 30 minutes to putting together a bike no one around here stocks. it was 95% together. i was eager to ride this weekend. i called at 10:30 on a saturday and bike barn said to come on up. when i arrived, they unloaded my bike, told me it would be $ 60 and told me that i’d have to wait until monday. i went down the road to hokie spokes and they fixed me right up, as promised. hokie spokes did the job in 45 minutes and charged $ 25. bke barn hoped to charge me $ 60. The people at hokie spokes seem more like genuine atheletes. Humble. The Bike Barn, I don’t know.

Four friends and I rented bikes here so we could bike the Huckleberry Trail. One of my friends’s wheel broke(the wheel, not the tire) on the first turn – she walked her bike back and they didn’t charge her for the rental. The rest of us soldiered on. By the time we’d gotten to Sears in Christiansburg, my chain had begun regularly popping off and my friend’s back fender had broken. We also had one very uncomfortable member of our party who hadn’t been sized for a bike, and whose non-adjustable seat was way too high for her frame. The location of this place is great, but their bikes were falling apart, and their service was poor. I wouldn’t rent there again.

Went in to do a little research about what kind of bike I should purchase with the goal of walking out with a bike to ride to class. Instead I walked out empty handed after being belittled by a rude and condescending bicycle shop owner. Upon asking for help I was told«you’re a college student so you must have an idea of what you want or the ability to research it.» after attempting to explain that the reason I came to a bicycle shop was for research he said«Have you ever even ridden a bicycle before?» I refuse to support a business that is run by one of the rudest people I’ve ever encountered in a retail environment and quickly took my business to Bike Barn exactly one block away and within sight.

Workers here are not very friendly and give a lot of attitude to customers. I think majority of the student workers are ok but Ive walked in and seen the owner of the business yelling at the employees which is completely unacceptable especially in front of the consumer. I just recently called in to try to get a quote for a minor tune up and the worker was EXTREMELY rude. Go to Bike Barn. They run a much more ethical business from what i can tell. I cant stand to give my money to these people no matter how cheap their services can be.

After going to another bike shop in town who didn’t seem to understand that I had a budget, I went to these guys. After telling them what I wanted to spend they set me up with a great bike. They let me take a test drive as well.

This is a great bike store with very reasonable service rates.
