I spent an hour gathering all of the items for my project. When I got to the check out, the clerk rang up my items, then refused to accept the Michael’s coupon from my phone. When I explained that all she has to do is scan the barcode, and that I always keep coupons on my phone, she rudely told me that some other«inexperienced» person might take it, but not her. I asked whether I would have to go home and print it out in order to have it accepted, and she said that would be necessary. I left without my items, and went to Hobby Lobby –where they readily accepted my phone coupon. The encounter in Michael’s was quite embarrassing, with people in line hearing her rude treatment and watching me leave after my coupon was rejected. I will not be shopping there again. The«customer service» was the rudest ever.

If I could define myself in one word, it would be this: procrastinator. In College: –finish online quiz 8 minutes before the midnight deadline… every week. –Forget rough drafts: write 10 page research paper in the two days before it is due. –Start and finish final art project the night before last day of class. –At Caribou: «Three shots of espresso please? Thank you. I didn’t sleep last night and I have an Art history final. No I didn’t study… but I have a break after my 8AM class.» At work: –Write Unilocal reviews and meet sales goals the last day of the quarter. I might delete that last part later after much thought and consideration. Anyway…I am entering a drawing in Minnesota Fine Arts competition next Saturday. But I finished it last Wednesday. Framing takes a minimum of two weeks, unless you do it yourself which, well, I am too lazy to do(also: me, plus sharp things for cutting mats, bad idea). Called Aaron, the framer at Michael’s, frantically. He calmly explained to me that they have to send out for the supplies and there is no way it will get done in time, but if I come in, we can pick out a ready made frame, choose from samples there, and he will fix something up for me. God bless him. He gives me several options for mats, and we select a few. I pick out a frame. He tells me to wait until pick up to pay for the frame because«it is marked down 40% tomorrow.» How cool is that? Each time I’ve brought my artwork to him, he has gone above and beyond, offering professional advice and finding the best solution for me and giving money saving tips. Each of my art pieces has been beautifully done. He has been doing this since he was 12… he knows his stuff, plus he is an artist himself so he understands exactly what his clients may be looking for. When I pick up my newly framed drawing on Wednesday, I’ll post a pic so you can see his work. Edit: i picked it up, looks even better than I expected. Haven’t posted pictures yet but I will when I get it back from fairgrounds.
