Love Buddies but horrible pizza(from the lasher, Bloomfield hills location) I’ve ever had from this legendary place. Twice now it’s been poorly made. Almost no cheese, sauce tastes funny and not cooked correctly. People working there are clueless when asked questions. Next time making the longer drive to the Northwestern location where it’s always good.

Love buddy’s pizza and so happy to have one close by. Ordered a Detroiter pizza and a Antipasto salad a few months back. Both were ready when I arrived and tasted just as good as they do at their sit down locations. The girl at the counter was friendly and polite.

The Margarita Pizza on multigrain and the Antipasto salad are the best! No delivery, but worth picking up! Not for eating in, just take out. I walked by this place several times thinking it was just a run of the mill pizzeria joint, but it is actually the pizza jewel of Detroit!

Solid pizza! I got the Scilian and it was fantastic. This place has apparently won all kinds of local awards and a few national ones too. I think what makes it stand out is the quality of the crust, fairly thick square-cut pizza but not too doughy.

It’s great for a reason! Love the crust and tomato sauce.

This is really a take out location. It is OK for picking up a pie to take home, but don’t go there planning to have a dining experience. I personally am not a fan of Buddy’s Detroit style pizza, but family members love it and I have become used to it. Coming from New York and having lived in the New Haven Connecticut area(think Tomatoes aPizza), I really can’t call this pizza. It is more like what we used to call Greek Pizza when I lived back east. But if you love eating at Buddy’s on Northwestern highway and you are nearby and need takeout, this is the place to go.

I love the special pizza, deep dish with 8 pieces. Pared with the greek salad the combination will make several meals for a family of 2. My only wish would be for the salad to NOT use ice berg lettuce which is as useless a lettuce for nutrition as one can get. If you check their web site you can get access to coupons as the pizza can be a bit pricey.

I’m from and live in Chicago and Buddy’s Pizza is as good as it gets. I always get their spinach pizza and they have the best spinach lasagna in the world. Good chicken fingers and fries. Family and kid friendly as well. Whenever I am in town Buddy’s is a must.

The best pizza in the D. I live in Chicago now and i have to say this beats any Chicago pizza I’ve had.

Good Michigan/Detroit style deep dish. Even better the next day when you re-heat in the oven(per the pizza box instructions). Favorite Caesar salad(super garlicky dressing) and I do really like their macaroni and cheese.

I’ve been going to this Buddy’s location for years now, and am truly impressed with the food! They offer pizza by the slice, which a lot of the Buddy’s locations do not. It’s a nice place to grab an after school snack or an on-the-go meal. They also have cookies and drinks to polish it off. This location is carry-out only, although they do have a few tables and a high top area if you wish to eat there; you just won’t get waited on. The pizza here is delicious — a deep dish style with the fried crunchy crust. Buddy’s makes their pizzas«backwards» so the pepperonis are on the bottom, then the cheese layer, then the pizza sauce, which is definitely unique, and a nice way to change it up from what we normally have. I would definitely recommend going here. The only downside. it is located at a busy intersection, and because plum market is in the same shopping center, the parking lot always seems to be busy.

There are a number of pizza styles out there and I honestly love most of them. While some chains/locations offer a number of types– thin, regular, thick, all corners, etc., with mixed success, Buddy’s focuses on one, the deep dish. There is a history to Buddy’s which you can read about elsewhere, suffice to say the deep dish is core to the brand. They use the blue steel pans which crisps the crust on the edges and keeps it fluffy in the middle. All the typical toppings you expect to build a pie to your tastes. I do like the hawaiian as they use a tangy BBQ sauce in place of the tomato sauce, but frankly it’s all good. I like the sit down Buddy’s on Northwestern but this place is great for a carry out pizza and salad. Some times they pump them out too fast so tell them you don’t want a soggy one or order it well done.

We decided to hit this location instead of the one we initially wanted to(Detroit) because it was closer to home and it fit our daily schedule better. Unfortunately, my experience started out on the negative side when hubby texted me to say they didn’t have fries so he got breadsticks instead. Yes, I knew this location was carry-out only, but I still thought they’d have the seasoned fries. So, right off the bat – before even seeing or tasting the food – I mentally reduced their rating by one star for the missing fries(along with no mention of a reduced menu on the website). So my initial pissiness aside, how was the pizza, you’re wondering? The breadsticks? The homemade ranch dressing(which they did have, and we got as our breadstick dipping sauce)? The pizza was good – definitely tasty and a notch above the typical Jet’s or Dolly’s we usually get – but it wasn’t nearly the«end all and be all» of pizza like we were led to believe from the advertising, acclaim, and hoopla. The breadsticks were, in a word, awful. Yes, they had to survive the 20-minute drive home… but I would hope a breadstick wouldn’t be hard and almost-too-tough to chew by the time we got to the last few pieces. The first pieces were edible and even slightly tasty with a smidge of butter and parmesan(especially when dipped in the LUSCIOUS Ranch dressing) but there is no way I would pay money for those again. And the Ranch, if you couldn’t already tell, was yummilicious. YUMMILICIOUS! I am a sucker for a good Ranch dressing, and this was top notch. But it wasn’t enough to overcome the decent pizza and indecent breadsticks. So, I’d say this place is A-OK at three stars. We’d probably be likely to go back if it was closer… or even try another eat-in location… but there are just too many other restaurants we want to try.

I feel like a jerk. I eat here at LEAST once a week, and I have neglected to Unilocal about it via the Internet… but considering god knows I Unilocal about this place on a daily basis, maybe they’ll forgive me. Voted one of Detroit’s best Pizza places, this Buddy’s is set up more as a carry-out vessel than a «sit-down family gathering» joint. I believe ALL their pizza is square(please, correct me if I am wrong), and their antipasto salad– although consists of ham, salami, cheese with oil and vinegar– is something I crave on a daily basis. For all you high schoolers trolling the streets during your lunch hour– this is a good place to grub considering it’s close-by and cheap(they have daily lunch specials).
