WILL NEVER COME BACK HERE AGAIN!
I’m doing a photo shoot tomorrow and wanted a pinup style, so I figured since I’ve got so much hair, that I would put rollers in at home to get my hair started.
I came in with a few photos of what I wanted my hair to look like and the lady assured me that I wouldn’t need curlers, I could get away with pin curls and she would show me how! I was excited. So I sat down to do the curls and she seemed like she was off put by having to show me what she just offered to show me.
Then as she’s showing me, makes a comment about my needing to shampoo my hair more often… 1. No I don’t, it was washed last night before bed (so it’s not even been a full 24 hours) and 2. Even if I did she probably could have found a better way to say it than, «You’re probably gonna wanna shampoo it.» (Yeah… IT, like I’ve got a fucking sea creature living on my head)
Also, I stated that I wanted to make sure there was enough time to get it done because I’ve got a deceiving amount of hair (like… a fucking lot. Ask any hair dresser who’s ever touched my head thinking it’d be a quick cut/​color/​style! lol) and she’s like, «Pfft, you don’t have that much hair.» UHM… thanks for your assessment in the 30 seconds you spent touching my hair you ride cow.
I used to spend a lot of money here. Key words… USED TO.

After reading the reviews, I think maybe someone read them and they have improved! I was surrounded by friendly, happy people and was thrilled that Dayna offered to take me as a walk in and curl my hair! New customer discount and walked out with $ 27 curl job done beautifully! Score! Took away one star because I kept trying to buy stuff and the one available lady kept leaving me mid sentence to check on others— I was like wtf just finish me up! But in the end, she was honest and knowledgeable so it made it better. Will be back!

The staff here is always incredibly rude. Never helpful, always bitchy.

I called ahead before I drove all the way up to Ulta today and spoke to Gabriella. She ensured me that they had the product I was looking for and it would be there when I got there. So I got ready, drove all the way there and asked where it was. To my surprise no one knew. When I asked helpful Gabriella she said «Oh I thought we had it, I didn’t actually look.» REALLY??? I was on hold long enough for you to go make it let alone check to see if you had it. So BEWARE!!! If you are looking for someone intelligent to help you; shop elsewhere!!!

I have been going to the Salon here since December 2013. I was with the same hairdresser for 13 years before that until this past August. Between August & December I was looking for a new home for my hair. I have found it. I have had color/​highlights & blow dry/​styles done by both Erin V & the Salon Manager, Christina. They are both amazing. Christina especially knew how to style my hair so that it turned out soft, silky & still had body. I have super thick, wavy hair & a LOT of it. I looked like a Wella girl when I left the salon. Every one there is kind professional & to be honest I forgot what it felt like to be treated with such kindness & respect considering the fact that I am paying for a service. I have had a chance to speak with the General Manager (her name is also Erin) and they are lucky to have her! Talent & professionalism are the cornerstones of this salon & I’m so happy! My hair is NOT easy!

I’ve been to this location a few times and have been disappointed. The product selection isn’t as good as at the other SE MI stores. I’m not sure if this has to do with the proximity to Pontiac, however, the Costco and other nice stores attract a good shopping demographic so one would think that might merit higher end brands.
I can’t speak to the salon or make-​up artist staff, however the salespeople seemkind of brusque and they can be slow at the register. Also, when I went in last time more than half the lights were off and it was really hard to see. I even had to use the flashlight on my phone to discern product colors.
I’ll still visit this store when I need something and am nearby but wouldn’t ever go out of my way to visit the Bloomfield location. Farmington Hills is much nicer.
