My first and last visit lasted 1 hour and 45 minutes. What did I get done? Absolutely nothing! I had an appointment for 5:30 (confirmed twice) and arrived at 5:15/5:20. No one said hello, asked for my name or my appointment time. I sat and waited and waited. Once it hit 7pm I was done waiting, I asked how long until some one would touch my hair and was told the following, «We’re busy, she’ll get to you, we tried to squeeze you in, she’s still going to do it» I walked out. I understand being busy but if you’re too busy for me don’t give me an appointment. I respect your time by getting to my appointment on time I would just expect the same respect.

I had an appointment to get my hair done for a wedding and on the day of my event they called me and said they cancelled my slot. The stylist decided not to come in and cancelled my appointment! Meanwhile I had been receiving confirmation text messages for the last week. Very unprofessional salon and put me in the most difficult situation on the day of my cousins wedding.

they were awesome. they made me feel really comfortable considering it was my first time. Abby my stylist was GREAT, she took care of my hair, made me laugh till my stomach hurt, and even gave me tips on how to treat my hair in between visits. Everyone’s experience will be different, because everyone has different expectations. Im a really simple, and sociable person, so the stushness that some of the customers had did not bother me at all.

If you are looking for someone who genuinely cares about the health of your hair, then this is the salon for you. Abby is a gem! She’s professional, conscience of your time, flexible and a nice person.

I got my first eyelash extensions here about three weeks ago. I found the staff friendly, down to earth and professional. I was a nervous reck at first, but my technician (sorry forgot her name) made me feel very comfortable right away. It took a while to get use to the eyelashes. I was swatting at flies, but turned out to be my eyelashes. LOL! About a week out I don’t even notice them. They last about two weeks, which is what I was told. Next time I’ll book some box braids.

I usually get a wash and braid down when I come here. Shelly’s very nice, extremely gentle and soft spoken. I just got box braids done earlier this summer by her and I was able to keep them in for about two months. She also took them out for me in less than two hours. I have natural hair so I get it braided once and a while, get a weave once in a blue and Abby and Hakim have both styled wigs for me. After coming here for about a year, I walked into the salon and Hakim made a snide remark I didn’t hear, but caused the patrons and other stylists to laugh. You can do great hair all you want, but when you make me feel uncomfortable or unwanted I surely will take my business elsewhere. Btw, he always talks about people, (customers and otherwise) behind their backs. Abby is usually nice and professional and like I said Shelly is nice as well. There is a lot of competition in the area so I will look for other salons. Also, the salon advertises nails and make up here, but there hasn’t been a nail tech here for a while.

As a broke college student, it’s really hard to constantly get my hair done. Now that I have natural hair, it’s been even harder to find a hair salon that won’t charge me an arm and a leg to wash and style my natural hair.
That is, until I found FMA.
Not only are FMAs prices great, the stylists are very talented, and they truly care about your hair — NOT how much money you’re willing to spend. I’ve been there two times: one time for braids and another time for weave. Both were done by Shelly. I’ve never had so many compliments on my hair before! Shelly did a great job (and was running a $ 100 weave special at the time, which was great for me!). She even washed my hair beforehand for free, where as at other salons I’ve been to, they charged me an extra $ 15-​$ 30 because I have natural afro hair that can’t be braided without being blow dried first.
All in all, I love FMA and can’t wait to go back and get my hair done again.

I know salons in the past that I used to go to I will have to wait over an hour to get anything done but not FMA! As soon as I walked in they went to work. The staff is very professional and warm! I got hair done by Hakim and make up done by Shedisha for NYE and I felt fabulous walking out of the salon. I definitely plan on going back for my birthday or any other special occasion that is going on.

Faces Of Madison Avenue is the best of the best! Abby and her entire team take their work seriously and has every customer leave looking and FEELING fabulous. Everytime I go there personally I feel amazing when I finally walk out. Keep up the great work!
