Other reviewers make this seem like more of a delivery place than eat-in, which I partially agree with. Food is great regardless at decent prices(I always get chicken pad Thai with or without a drink) but décor is a bit lacking. Service was always efficient and friendly.

Apparently if you live in an apartment they won’t delivered to your apartment no matter where you live. I live in a garden apartment and I live on the second floor and they still won’t deliver to my apartment that is completely ridiculous to say the least

I ordered the panang curry and dumplings and it was delicious. They skimped a little on the veggies in the curry, but the spicy broth and the shrimp made up for it.

I absolutely love the food. Delicious, generous portions. Delivery service is prompt and courteous. I could eat their food every day.

Bad food, decided to order take out last week. Drunken noodles w/shrimp were tasteless. My red curry had fatty chicken and big pieces for some reason, the meat left a fatty aftertaste.

In a neighborhood with limited options, this baby is like an oasis in the desert. A hole in the wall that turns out very decent food and more importantly, can deliver the food warm(unlike other restaurants in Bloomfield). We just moved to the ‘hood, so admittedly we have not tried everything — but we have tried the following:(1) pineapple chicken(description calls it crispy, but it’s not fried as you would imagine). It is, however, really tasty as it is mildly spicy and sweet.(2) chicken pad thai(wanted to love it since it’s such a classic dish — but I didn’t. It was just«ok» — so I won’t be ordering that again).(3) chicken green curry(my fav. Very spicy but the kind of burn that makes you want to eat more, especially when balanced with the fluffy white fragrant rice.(4) vegetable Thai basil fried rice(delicious! Great layers of flavor with just the right amount of umami). Green Basil is quickly becoming our Friday night delivery spot for dinner. Bloomfield is not flush with good delivery restaurants, but this place is a standout that won’t disappoint.

Thai curry on it’s own is very different that any other nationality that makes theirs. It has that creamy flavor. Green Thai Basil’s well it’s kind of just simple. I’ve tasted other thai restaurant’s and it taste all the same. That same flavor which you were hoping they could spice it up a bit. They did add a lot of ginger I mean A LOT. Is it even that healthy to eat ginger like that? But what I loved was their fried rice. They are like the only place that adds egg and it has a nice but not great flavor. But I love duck and a lot a restaurants don’t cater it locally anymore so I’m very fond to try the duck hopefully will be soon. The delivery minimum is pricy so it’s a bit of a turn off.

Green Basil, Your mango chicken is a sweet, savory, crunchy yet juicy dish every time delivered. You however sadly are not without fault… While the Duck was one time pleasant and crunchy the following 2 times it was a luke warm, soggy, flavorless, cartilage mess that left none to be desired. The Chicken Puffs a hott greasy mess filled with oil. That spicy Beef that though amazing tasty flavor led me wanting more the mass amounts of chewy fat attached did not. The bland red curry again left little to be desired with its lame hit of spice, poor seasoning and no depth of flavor. Yet the Thai Fried rice is always a safe delicious bet with its layered flavors and perfect amount of spice; yet it seems to lack consistency. However you’re saving grace that will keep me coming back and ordering out… You’ve managed to taintalize my taste buds with you’re dependable chicken dumplings that taste amazing with your soy ginger dipping sauce. OVERALL Gets that thai craving, home late from work and need some quick delivery job done. Good dishes that seem to lack consistency. Great Take-out time and will keep me coming back to the dumplings and thai ried rice. Yet the wrong dish one night may keep you away for a good amount of time so try to order something one would hope is hard to F*** Up.

The food is pretty decent. The red curry is pretty good. Their pad thai was a little bland the second time around, the first time it was on point and amazing. I will also say the basil thai fried rice was a bit bland too. Not sure if it was an off day or not. I’ve had their food before so sometimes it’s just OK and sometimes it can be pretty good. Just depends I guess.

Con: very little flavor in their dishes. Pro: get lots of food for the money. Went on Unilocal and saw 4 out of 5 stars. Ordered the pad thai because that is the basic dish that all thai restaurants should do well. It had very little flavor. Only giving two stars because it is a lot of food for the money.

Excellent food and service. Try the chicken and the shrimp. Quiet and cute for a date or even takeout I would go again. Plus it BYOB.

Came here for the first time, since they were offering a Groupon discount. I was pretty disappointed. Their food is bland, not like authentic Thai food at all! Also, it’s street parking only, which is hard to come by on Bloomfield Ave.

Came in here for the first time for some take out and as soon as that bag went into my car, I couldn’t wait to get home, like that ‘I’m about to get home to get laid’ excitement. Yes I said it. I ordered the green curry with shrimp, holy F* it was spicy. Very well put together, wonderfully tasty. The shrimps were in that upper tier/echelon of taste and quality, not those measly anorexic farm shrimp, NO… these were Tiger Prawnish bite your face right back looking shrimps. You can eat this curry and rightfully sing«There’s Levels» to this Thai food game. I also ordered the dumplings which were just as awesome and nicely put together. I’m a customer for life and the fact it’s so close kills me since I’m split between here and Topaz Thai in Belleville, another very good spot. Come to think of it I’ll be having one of them tonight, time to flip a coin, cheers.

Not good. I ordered Pad Thai from here. When placing my order, I forgot to mention that I would like it spicy. The guy taking my order did not ask either(and it really is his job). I figured that it would be moderately spicy. Instead, no chile at all. Lame! Thai food is supposed to be at least moderately spicy. The flavor was just sweet. That’s it. I couldn’t taste any fish sauce or shrimp paste or tamarind. They did manage to get green onions and bean sprouts in, but that’s it. I moved from the west coast, so maybe all of the Thai food in Jersey is no good, but this place is definitely not good. Well, the Thai Iced Tea was good.

This was a really good place for a super bargain — and it would have been a nice value even if not for our groupon. Chicken satay appetizer was delicious. Being a wuss, the peanut sauce was a bit much for me, but it had good flavor and he lapped up every bite. I enjoyed my drunken noodles with shrimp, although they could have used a bit more flavor over all. They weren’t stingy on the ingredients, as they included a perfect balance of non-mushy noodles, tender veggies including carrots, green beans, cabbage, bok choy, onions, and probably a couple things I’m forgetting, and plenty of nicely-cooked shrimp. I’d absolutely order it again. He loved his roasted duck with red curry sauce(although I, once again with the wimpy pallet, could not take the spiciness), which had awesome squash and eggplant julienned over the top. For a $ 3 supplement, his rice was replaced by an amazing plate of succulent vegetables. Broccoli, green beans, carrots, mushrooms, cabbage… all perfectly sauteed in just enough garlic and oil. Strange though it may seem, we couldn’t stop talking about the veggies. Service was terrific, even though it was just one guy doing everything in the front of the house. We had a reservation but it was unnecessary if you don’t have a groupon — empty when we arrived on a Saturday night and at best only ½ full. With a couple soft drinks, our total was only around $ 46 before the groupon was applied. Kind of sad that they don’t have more business… maybe it’s the location? Worth checking out!

That’s right I am a fan of this place just by reviewing the comments on Unilocal.Oneday, I had the feeling for some good old fashioned Pad Thai. Nothing fancy but there aren’t any great Thai restaurants in Paterson, so I took to Unilocal to see what I could find. Sure enough, up pops Green Basil Thai and the pics had me drooling. One poster has Pad Thai Shrimp, with Chicken Dumplings and Ginger Sauce, and I was sold. I held off for about two weeks before I could get to this place and just to find it was a beast. Once I got my bearing, I parked in one of the local side streets and walked in. I was greeted by two young Latin men(surprised since it was a Thai restaurant) and received ultra quick and friendly service. The menu is simple enough but I just needed something to go and that I could eat later if the mood were to hit me. I quickly placed my order for Chicken Pad Thai, Chicken Dumplings with Ginger Sauce, and had my mouth watering the whole time It all came to less than $ 14(not bad) and I was on my way. When I got the car I quickly dove into my food(saved some for the ride home) and realized that I didn’t have my ginger sauce(hence why no five stars) but no big deal. The food was delicious and I ate it all in one sitting. I loved it so much that I went right back the next day and ordered the same meal(this time I got my ginger sauce with my dumplings) This place is a great small spot to grab a drink, some good Thai food, and just enjoy yourself. Look parking elsewhere or be prepared to walk a block or two because they are located between two neighborhoods and on the main street.
