Great ambience in this place. Lighting and décor make it cozy and contemporary at the same time. I sat at the bar and the server was on point. My glass was always filled and he took just the right amount of time describing the menu. I started with the potato truffle soup, which was perfect. Not too heavy and a ton of flavor. I went with the miso salmon burger as an entrée. The sesame side salad was a good pairing. The bun on the salmon was fresh. The only reason this isn’t a five star review was the salmon. It was decent but lacked flavor. The kimchi was bland as well. Other than those minor details, this place was amazing. Coming back real soon!

The food here was amazingly good. We had the grilled veggie panini and it was perfect. Another member of our party has the fried fish(sooo tasty). The zucchini fries were A+, the drinks were good, and I loved their hummus appetizer in particular. It is on the pricy side, but they offer a wonderful happy hour. If I could give 6 stars, I would!

It’s okay. By far the best part is the appetizers. Out of many of their draft beers and not busy– didn’t tell us until after we ordered. Place was loud despite being half full. Only play the Beetles on repeat.

Love the atmosphere, think the prices are slightly inflated. Still: we live in the neighborhood and enjoy coming here periodically.

We sat at the bar which was great we got to watch the chefs preparing all kinds of yummy deserts and other yummy apps. I started with one of my summer time favorites the blue berry beer. The Cesar salad was fresh with just the right amount of dressing and lots of fresh Parmesan. The mushroom and fresh ricotta flat bread was to die for, just a small amount is honey and red pepper flakes to make is sweet and spicy. The waiter was slammers so it took a while to get the check but we got our food quickly so it made up for it. I will be back.

I’ve only been at Republic for their Happy Hours(Mon — Fri: 3−6pm) Drinks are well made, their take on the manhattan is delicious, the gin fizz is pretty solid too. They have a decent draft selection, most of which is local, and also an impressive bourbon and scotch list too. During happy hour, select beers are $ 3 while select cocktails and wines are $ 5. The bacon wrapped dates with pistachios are yummy(when isn’t bacon-wrapped anything yummy?!) the charcuterie board with old fashioned mustard is quick and hits the spot, and the beef carpaccio isn’t bad either. Will have to come back for bigger plates. Service is quick and friendly. The interior is spacious, trendy and comfortable. And pricing overall is average.

This was a good place. I was in town last week for a conference and a friend met me at this place. The food is good. The small plate chicken and waffles was quite tasty, but it was expensive. The burger I had was quite good, and the second time I went I had the salmon burger. The drinks are good and the bartender was very nice. I like the setup of the place; the dining area is cozy and the bar area is nice as well.(I never went upstairs but there was a group of folks up there and folks were enjoying themselves.) This is a place I will probably stop by the next time I’m in town.

Went on a Saturday night for dinner, make sure you have a reservation. The server was helpful, friendly, and funny. The food was very good(beef cheeks and scallops). We also had the ricotta and dessert, those were both ok. We would definitely go back.

The Republic is hit or miss. I really want to love the restaurant conceptually, and keep trying it out, but it just doesn’t suit my taste buds. My first impression was that the kitchen isn’t particularly accommodating. E.g. on my first visit several months ago, I saw online beforehand that they had tartare on the dinner menu, but not for the lunch menu. We were there at 3:30PM in an otherwise empty restaurant and asked if we could have the tartare and the kitchen said no. I get that they were prepping for dinner during this midweek visit, but the impression that was conveyed was that this restaurant is not at all service oriented and does not value building a long term relationship with a customer. Bartending and host staff are rather standoff-ish and have been cold on my many visits. Bar staff takes a super long time to serve beverages with an attitude, however, all of the waiters I have had have been very kind and prompt. Burrata, carpaccio, ribs, flatbreads are all solid and good standouts. I have had the scallops with cauliflower 2x and both times it has been subpar with greasy cauliflower and overcooked scallops. In terms of ambience, it’s a little too dark and loud for my tastes.

I’ve been here twice. Once a few years ago when we had a group of six for dinner. We ordered beers which were received quickly, but then didn’t see our server for at least 20 – 25 minutes. We ended up throwing some money down and leaving. The server gave us some lame excuse about having to split a check for a large group. The second time, more recently, my girlfriend and I went for happy hour. The bar had no tables available so we sat in the area behind the bar. When the server finally came by to ask our order she explained that happy hour is only in the bar and it’s first come first serve. Not wanting to stand elbow to elbow with a bunch of rowdy patrons, we opted to leave. The place was empty besides the bar, why not expand happy hour to other parts of the restaurant? They might make some more money.

A solid go-to! I love to sit at the bar with some drinks and apps in the cozy yet lively atmosphere. They have a good selection of local beers, in my opinion they could use a few more good craft beers(maybe not local). So far I have had the nachos, artichokes, oysters, and the beef stroganoff, all were delicious! Next time I will be trying the Mac and Cheese(even though I really want that beef stroganoff again!)

I’ve been here a handful of times and each time I go it’s always better than the last. This place is well staffed with great hosts, waiters, waitresses and bartenders ready to serve. They’re super personable and easy to talk to. Something I’ve noticed is everything is always so clean! Even the bathrooms . During my most recent visit it was for New Years dinner with my friend; we got drinks(which were both delicious!) and an entrée. I’ve gotten into Mac n cheese lately(I know, I know) so I decided to try theirs. They had an option of Mac n cheese with pulled pork-heaven! I can’t even begin to explain how well done the meal was and the presentation was cool too. I would refer this place to anyone wanting a busy but intimate atmosphere for eating. The food is great and the drinks are too. The staff is also very pleasant! I suggest making a reservation because this place gets very busy! But it’s worth it!

A restaurant that truly embodies the vision of gastropub. The ambiance is warm and inviting and the menu is filled with endless choices for both big and small bites. I tried and would highly recommend the savory and delicious bacon wrapped dates, the deviled eggs and the charcuterie. The Manhattan cocktail I had was great, but I also tried some lavender tasting cocktail on their menu that tasted like straight liquid lavender; was not a fan. As for the entrée, I tried the Gorgonzola flat bread which was absolutely amazing. It had sliced pears, brie and arugula with a balsamic reduction. Every bite was packed with an explosion of flavor. My main entrée was the seared scallops and cauliflower. While the scallops were seared perfectly and fresh tasting, there were only three on the plate. For $ 27, I find that to be way too expensive. It comes with a bed of crunchy cauliflower, manzanilla olives and sliced dates. This was a very interesting/odd mixture that sounded weird to me but ultimately wound up tasting good. My only thought was that they should have limited the quantity of it. After about 4 – 5 bites, my palate became too overwhelmed and tired of the brine of the olive and sweetness of the dates. More scallops, less cauliflower salad, and the dish could be a real winner.

Glad to finally check this place out for lunch! Went with Jill for a belated birthday lunch, she’s been here a few times and really enjoyed it. A very unassuming building on the outside, beautiful open and spacious interior with rustic touches. For my dish, I had the Cuban sandwich, which was delish! It came with fries and was nicely plated. I was jealous when I saw Jill’s pick – the BLTA – wish I had had this! A huge sandwich on thick toasty bread with lots of bacon. Even though the dessert menu wasn’t out, Jill asked about something she’s had before, and I trust her judgement with dessert! The kitchen was willing to make her wishes happen and soon a beautiful dessert sampler plate arrived – mini milkshakes, gelato, cookies, pastry – all amazing and worth the calories! Service was great, food was excellent and atmosphere was comfortable. Would love to return!

The restaurant was hopping. It looked like a fun place to be and it was. I had good company and great conversation. It was a nice menu although I thought the value vs other comparable restaurants was not good. We began with the ribs and mussels for an app. They were both delicious. I ordered the au poivre burger. It was cooked perfectly but the bun was a little greasy. I don’t think the burger was worth the $ 16 they are asking. Again the food was good, the service slow but OK, but I found the prices to be a little over the top.

Cool place but a little pricey. Lots of interesting drinks(my rosemary pear martini was yummy) and cool, fancy-but-fun-and-casual atmosphere. My beef stroganoff was delicious! My boyfriend liked his fish and chips reasonably well, but he loved the baked alaska! The service was very good, too. I would definitely go back.

The first thing that struck me about Republic on entering is what a unique layout it has. The bar opens out just beyond the host’s stand, and another dining room open off to the left. But when the host led me to my table, he stepped past me toward the door, and into a room I hadn’t realized was there. Add some seating on a balcony section and it’s quite a variety of noise levels and ambiance. They had a good range of beer styles available on a November evening, leaning rather toward IPAs. My friend and I shared a nacho platter which could have fed four and had a lot of tasty toppings. My Cuban sandwich, which featured barbecued pork, was a nice variant on the classic. Our server was enthusiastic and attentive throughout, and helped make the evening a true pleasure. If you’re looking for a comfortable spot to eat and drink in Bloomfield, I recommend it!

First time at Republic. Very crowded at 6pm on Friday, but still a great atmosphere. Strongly recommend reservations as even seating in bar is hard to get. Food and drinks were excellent! This is my favorite place in the Mill Restaurant Group. Bartenders know their stuff– he asked me light or full when I ordered a Pinot Noir. We had bacon wrapped figs, calamari, margarita flat bread and Thai wings– all very well done. The calamari was quite exceptional. I’ll eat calamari, but generally don’t really enjoy it. This calamari was superb. Great place!

I went here back in January on a business lunch, so I unfortunately never had the chance to review the beer and alcoholic drinks.:( However, I did enjoy my pulled pork and pineapple salsa sandwich. I appreciate that I could swap out the fries for a fresh salad with a tasty vinaigrette dressing. The ambience was updated and cool. For lunchtime on a Friday, it was bustling with both casual and business-type crowds.

This place is surprisingly trendy for being located in a suburban CT town. I went here for my birthday with my mother. It was a little nondescript; I actually missed it and parked in the medical office building next door. The interior of the restaurant is super cute. It has two floors with an open balcony. Very classy. It also has a nice bar area. The ambiance is sophisticated, but casual at the same time. It’s a classy place you don’t have to dress up for. I’m all about lazy sophistication, so the atmosphere was perfect for me. From the inside, it would be hard to differentiate this place from a bar in Boston. Service was fast and polite. I ordered a flatbread with gorgonzola, fontina, brie & pear. It was amazing. Although it’s somewhat trivial, the presentation was very nice. On first look it appeared to have too much arugula, but it turned out to be the right amount to compliment the cheese. I could only finish 3 or 4 slices and took the rest home. My mother got the truffle mac and cheese which she also really liked. I took off one star because their dessert menu is pretty bad. The only one I really wanted wasn’t even available because apparently the freezer was broken(???). So if I was able to have the desert and it was good this could possibly be 5 stars. I think it’s a truly hidden(maybe not hidden, i’m not sure. It was hidden to me!) gem in Bloomfield, CT.

I found this place on Unilocal while commuting back to New Haven from BDL. Traffic was heavy on I-95 and I wanted to find a place for a quick bite… I fell in love with this place INSTANTLY! The bartenders were all kind and introduced themselves to me and sparked conversation. I was served immediately and felt right at home. As I watched other patrons get served I quickly learned that they treat everyone who comes in like family. They remember the favorite drinks of their regulars and practically have it ready as they sit down. The beer selection is solid, and the whiskey selection is superb!!! The menu had a tapestry of items fitting of a fantastic gastropub at very reasonable prices! I started with the truffle Parmesan popcorn which was AMAZING! It’s easy to overdo it with truffle oil, but there’s was perfect! Free that I got mussels with frites. The white wine sauce for the mussels was perfect, and the fries were solid and came with their own mini bottle of ketchup. My shells were disposed regularly(almost so fast that I didn’t see it happen). This place is a gem, and I would go out of my way to have a drink and a bite at this place! Very well ran establishment!

It was my first visit, I only went in for a quick beer but found the service to be warm and quite friendly. I really like the wood panel interior bar layout very much, there is additional seating which can accommodate a rather sizable crowd and there is even a long table for a party of 8 or more. There are a number of small café tables in that area too for couples or for a couple of friends. The bottle and draft beer selection is very nice and the tap system, I must say, provided an unusually cold beer, indicative of a clean very well maintained beer system with no off flavor notes due to residual chemical cleaners. At some point, I will return to sample the food but from what I saw leaving the kitchen, my instinct tells me it should be a 4 star experience.

I had a nice happy hour(OK, 3 hours) here. The happy hour menu is great, and includes basic well drinks. My server was friendly and nice enough to allow me to count a «vodka and ginger beer» as a basic happy hour drink item, and threw in a little lime there for good measure :) It was a really delicious moscow mule :) We tried a few of the food items and were impressed overall. The fancy adult version of the pigs in a blanket are awesome and bring back warm and fuzzy childhood memories! I’d love to check out the dinner menu sometimes, and will likely be back for another happy hour.

On a business trip and broke from the norm. Usually I travel with a group — a large one– and I usually have to settle for classic American nothing to funky. So this trip I am alone. It’s almost blissful to be honest So hubby sends me republic via Unilocal to check out. So our meeting ended very late and off I go for my little adventure. I arrive the parking lot is beyond packed. But luckily it being past 6 the bank next door has closed and has ample parking. I easily obtained a table for 1 in the dining room. The bar was a little busy. There is multiple dining spaces. The bar, bar high tops, upstairs dining room and a side dining room. I was upstairs and next to a window. I ordered two items. First — The truffle onion soup. This arrives with cubed perfectly sautéed onions in a pristine white bowl. Where the cream based truffle mushroom cream is delicately poured over the onion. Truly delicious. My what I was expecting at all. Very very rich, sensuous and heavy. Second — steak tartare. I gotta say am I sucker for this when I see it on a menu. It was a nice amount maybe 3 ounces. Spicy goodness of delicious steak. Served with a quail egg for dipping, a frisée salad with quite interesting radish and perfectly lightly toasted baguette points. I didn’t dip into the quail egg the tartare was on point although I usually prefer it with more texture(more chopped than this one was) it was a very tasty concoction and I will get over texture. I had no room for desert after all that. Nor capacity for a drink. So off to the hotel I went and enjoying my drink writing this review.

Went for a company happy hour on Wednesday 5 – 6:30 p. They’re happy hour ends at 6 pm so get there before then if you want a discounted price on drinks! It’s typical to see professionals dressed in suits and ties as its a nice place to have a group dinner or gathering, especially since it’s close to windsor and simsbury where some of the companies are located. It was awesome to have a tall glass of beer for less than $ 4! Amazing deal! They even had appetizers for half price which we didn’t try but definitely looked worth it! They own a few other locations and all seem to be pretty successful. I will definitely go back sometime to try their food! I’ve heard good things about this place and got a small flavor of it at happy hour but will definitely go back! Private parking lot is always a plus!

Definitely the best bar I’ve come to in a while. I love the rustic, classy feel. There’s light, trendy music in the background but not enough to stifle a conversation. While there are a couple of large tables, most of the tables are set-up for smaller parties. Sitting on the 2nd floor lends a fun, bird’s eye view of the majority of the crowd. The wine menu is smaller than the beer menu, but the wines are carefully selected. I had a Matchbook Cab that was stellar($ 10/glass). I also was blown away by my salmon burger, which included a miso glaze and kimchi. Loved the flavor, and the fish was succulent. It was probably one of the best salmon burgers/sandwiches I’ve ever had. Parking in the back is limited, so opt for parking in the Wells Fargo parking lot.
