I dunno what Unilocal reviewers are thinking sometimes. This place is terrible. And don’t try and order a margarita pitcher. It was house tequila, tons of ice and tons of sour mix. And it was $ 50. Yeah. And the food sucked. There’s no need to go into a deeper review of the place. Just know that it sucks.

First off the guacamole was one of the best I have ever had… hands down. The salsa was not at-all spicy and I would have preferred some zing(but that’s my preference). I ordered the beef tacos for lunch. The menu described 3 tacos for $ 8.95, or a combo with Chili Relleno for 1 taco and 1 chile at $ 7.95. What I received was 2 tacos… hmm. The tacos seemed to be in crunchy store shells-Ortega or El Paso style. The meat was just ground beef with apparently no seasoning. Added was a bit of lettuce and splash of some juice/sauce. Terrible, worst I have ever had, no cheese no sour cream-nada. I would have questioned the missing taco. but 1) it was so bad I didn’t want another one 2) my waiter never came back once he delivered the lunch(I was the only customer). I will give it one more try based on the strength of the guacamole… but people please do not order the tacos.

I’ve had better Mexican food, especially for the money… no question. The service was at best odd. After finishing the meal we had some of the Sangria, and received a $ 1,000 bill. I politely asked for it to be corrected as they added a 0 to the end. honest mistake but ended up drawing fraud alerts on my credit card. Here’s where it gets annoying. Five minutes later, they ask us if we are going to order anything else, because if not«we need the table»… We were dumbfounded… Barely there two hours and were not finished with the meal. Like I said, the food was average and I’ve had plenty of Mexican food having traveled to Mexico for many years on business. I won’t hurry back. I’ve never been asked to vacate a table even in much more upscale restaurants.

What an awesome hidden little gem! While having a random craving for Mexican food, I found this place on Unilocal.Upon pulling up to the restaurant, it seemed a little questionable but this was the perfect example of why you should not judge a book by its cover. It almost feels like you’re on vacation when you go inside, with its décor and cute little bar. The strawberry margarita was perfect. They give you complimentary chips and salsa and a cheese quesadilla as soon as you sit down. I had the chicken flautas, which were so good that I cleared my whole plate(which I never do)! The server was very attentive and even gave us tequila shots on the house! I really liked this place, and was so glad to find such a great spot close to where I live to come back to. Definitely recommend!

Let’s face it — it’s difficult to find a good meal concentrically around this area. Naturally it was a Saturday night and we were looking for somewhere to eat. The few good spots were packed. We’re in the car, my husband opens up Unilocal and and looked for something 4+ stars(yes, I’m the one driving…). Next thing you know we were seated in a booth at Cinco de Mayo chips, salsa, and a margarita in hand! First plus, they have a liquor license — woo hoo!!! We loved the ambiance… small, you could wear jeans, and the owners/waiters so friendly. Second plus, casual — yes! We started with the guacamole which would have been better if it weren’t for the big(big!) chunks of raw onions — a lot of them. Dinner included chalupas and the shrimp trio — both were excellent. What I liked about the food is that the ingredients were obvious and not smothered in cheese. Some restaurants use cheese as an excuse to cover up a lack of taste in Mexican food but this place actually uses vegetables as an ingredient(!!) and you could taste the different flavors. Score! Unfortunately, I asked for no rice and no green peppers but they served them anyway — I think it’s the type of place that if you ask for changes they wouldn’t be able to do too much because they’re used to cranking out the food in the small kitchen in the back. Then it appeared in front of us… free dessert? Okay!!! Two weeks later… We went back again hoping… just hoping… it would be half as good as our first experience. And it was with the addition of a mariachi band playing. And this time I was in jeans and a sweatshirt. And no one cared! The band had everyone smiling — the margaritas didn’t hurt nor did the sangria. We tried the enchiladas this time and again very good. The place was packed and the service still on target. They did accommodate a very small change to my dinner which was achieved when dinner came out. And free dessert again! I think this is our next«go to» place for multiple reasons: short wait for everything, very casual, easy parking(park next door if you have to), and affordable — what more do you need?

Cute little spot to grab some Mexican food. 1. Free chips/salsa and mini quesadilla appetizer 2. Prices are reasonable for portion sizes 3. Staff is friendly 4. Parking lot is tight 5. Their burrito reminds me more of an enchilada, couldn’t decipher which was which on my plate

Great little place. Good food and great service. I have been there two times and will be back. Only thing is that refills are not unlimited(soda and tea).

Went again and everything was great. Food and sangria were wonderful. But, the waiter inadvertently added $ 20 to the credit card bill. I get mistakes are made, but he also did not include the original receipt with the credit card slip. That combination did not sit well with me.

Changing my view on this place. Called Sunday at 7 because they have delivery on Unilocal.Since I was only ordering for 2 they wouldn’t deliver. You either have delivery or you don’t. Sorry won’t be coming here anymore.

Update 2÷28÷16: Alright, Cinco De Mayo, we can be friends again. My husband wanted me to give this place another chance and I’m glad we did. I still think drinks are expensive and parking can be difficult compared to Jose Tejas, but seating is MUCH faster. I do wish they would add more vegetarian options, although the one that I get(I believe the #7) is pretty satisfactory. The freebies offered(chips & salsa, tortilla with melted cheese, dessert and tequila shot!) are pretty great. I really, really liked this place until my third visit, which was very disappointing. My husband and I usually order margaritas, but this time I ordered a daiquiri. When I tasted my drink, all I could taste was alcohol. My husband’s, however, was super tasty. He realized later on when the liquors were easier to taste that our drinks had been switched – strike one. We ordered our usual favorites, mine the ONE vegetarian entrée on the menu. When it arrived, I dug in to find chicken – strike two. I sent it back, and it only took a couple minutes for a replacement to arrive. Awesome! No chicken this time, but when I went to take a bite of the stuffed bell pepper, I found ground beef – meh, strike three. Sent back again. By this time, we realized our original tacos had been switched – my husband was supposed to have the chicken, but he only had cheese. :(I’m all about customer service, so you can imagine my disappointment at not receiving an apology or any kind of gesture for the problems we had(to be fair, we didn’t report the drink or cheese taco issues, only my meal.) One gentleman who appeared to be a manager asked me while I was waiting for my second replacement to arrive if I had sent it back again – yes, I did, because that’s not what I ordered and I don’t eat meat! I’m not being nit picky, I just want food I can eat. I think I’ll drive a little further from home next time to find better service. Total waste of a date night. :(

Great find! After reading some Unilocal!reviews, my wife and I took in a late dinner there on Saturday and was not disappointed! Food was very good and priced right! The red Sangria was especially good!!! You are offered chips and salsa as well as a small cheese quesadilla to munch on before you get your meal. We both ordered a three item meal, that came with rice and beans. The ONLY thing I didn’t like(and I have seen others state this as well) is that the Taco is served next to or right on the rice. This makes the Taco shell become very soft and brittle… One bite, the taco falls apart. So, either place the Taco on a taco stand-type thingy so it’s not sitting on the rice to get soft or you’ll need to eat the Taco first! And, I, myself, don’t like to eat my Taco first. I like to work my way up to the Taco! At the end of the meal, you’re offered free dessert(something small, but it’s a nice touch) and a shot of Tequila on the house! Now, that’s what I am talking about!!! We’ll certainly be back!!! Big parties may have an issue with being comfortable, as 2−3−4 tops are the norm here. It’s not a very big restaurant, and they do have outdoor seating during the nicer times of the year. But inside, it’s small, but don’t let that scare you away… The food is very yummy.

A hidden gem in Bloomingdale. Tonight was our second visit. A spur of the moment decision to not cook tonight… The first time we went we sat outside in the enclosed patio. It was pleasant sitting under the umbrellas and we enjoyed a wonderful meal. Tonight we decided to eat inside. Inside is colorful with comfortable tables and booths. I doubt a group of more than 6 could be comfortably accommodated as the seating areas are very small and tight. Comfortable for each table, but limited in the ability to hold a larger group. It was easy to hold a quiet conversation with the muted noise level. The meal starts with a basket of tortilla chips and a delicious tomato salsa. Nice and chunky, tasting of fresh ingredients. A warm flour tortilla filled with cheese and sour cream is brought next. It is a tasty way to start the meal. We ordered the guacamole as an appetizer. It was had a wonderful chunky texture, tasted of the fresh ingredients of avocado, tomato, cilantro and onion. Very tasty, obviously freshly made. My wife had the shrimp fajita. Served with fresh flour tortillas, slices of avocado, chopped tomato, fresh jalapeño, and onions in a tortilla shell, and a rad sauce with plentiful shrimp. My wife raved about it. Frequent exclamations punctuated the meal as she enjoyed the dish. I had the camarones in salsa verde. Out of this world. The salsa verde was thick and flavorful, the shrimp perfectly down. The rice was delicious and served as a great base for the dish. The refried beans were very tasty. All in all the meal was simply wonderful and the service was perfect. It was attentive, friendly and prompt. Could not ask for better. This is high on our list of local favorites.

Not being from the area, this restaurant was the most pleasant surprise that we stumbled upon using Unilocal! From the moment we sat down we felt it’s authenticity and were eager to see what this establishment had to offer. We were promptly greeted with tortilla chips and salsa, and a mini quesadilla. We ordered classic margaritas, and though refreshing, we thought could’ve afforded more tequila having been $ 10 a pop(to our surprise by the way, not sure if these prices were actually listed anywhere…). Anyway– melted queso con chorizo appetizer made up for that right away– Ridiculously good!!! Mouth watering, wished it was bottomless, good. Moving onto dinner– my boyfriend got the enchiladas which he seemed very satisfied with, but I think we agreed that my chicken tostadas walked away the winner of the evening. The pulled chicken was the most moist, absolutely delicious… and the refried beans were out of this world. Ps– We also got complimentary shots of tequila at the end of our meal. The staff were not only attentive, but appreciative of our service. It’s an hour away but we will not be able to stay away from this gem!

Don’t be put off by the lackluster appearance from the outside. The inside is cozy, celebratory & nicely decorated. And it has really delicious fresh food! First, the classic margaritas are fantastic. Strong. Perfect. With salted rims. As soon as you sit down, they give you warm, crispy, homemade tortilla chips and salsa plus quesadillas, for free. I’ve been there twice — once in a date with my husband and once with my kids. My kids LOVED the flavored Mexican sodas and tacos platters. My husband I enjoyed the chicken mole and shrimp in garlicky green tomatillo sauce. Dessert was flautas with fried bananas, whipped cream & honey. All was delicious and fresh.

I’m a huge fan of Mexican food. Especially authentic Mexican food in the hoods of NYC. When I found Cinco De Mayo, I was excited to try a new restaurant. Everything on Unilocal looked promising. Great reviews. I ordered steak tacos with rice & beans. This is usually my go to dish at a new Mexican restaurant that I’ve never been to… especially if a place looks authentic. Cinco De Mayo looks authentic alright! Not exactly a hole in the wall, but its layout and style is very similar to the Mexican restaurants I go to in Sunset Park(Bklyn, NY). I was disappointed with my tacos. First, it was ground beef. Not chunky cuts of meat. Second, the tortilla was hard shell(Identical to the ones I purchase at Costco!!!). Third, the layout on the plate was horrible. Three tacos in the middle of the plate. Rice on one side and beans(smothered with cheese) on the other side. Can you guess what happens when the liquid from the beans saturate their way onto the crunchy, non-authentic tacos? That’s right… not only does it gets soggy, but it it falls apart completely. I guess people around Butler, NJ don’t know what real Mexican food is. Had I wanted this style of tacos, I would’ve gone to the local Taco Bell! I think I’ll just stick around Dover, NJ for my taco needs. Price for this dish was $ 12. Not worth it at all.

I have always been looking for authentic Mexican food to try and have always failed. Until I found this gem! The atmosphere is absolutely the best when you’re looking for a legitimate Mexican restaurant! From the outside it sort of looks a bit run down but the inside is very nice and clean. My friend and I were quickly seated and our waiter was very attentive! He was very helpful and the owner when gave us small complimentary samples! I think they knew it was our first time there. The menu has plenty of choices and the prices are very reasonable! Their shrimp appetizers were delicious and the enchiladas were so delicious! I loved everything about this place and I can’t wait to go back there again! If you’re looking for true authentic Mexican food then this is your place to go!

We found this cool little Mexican place in town and unfortunately, the first time we came was their only day closed(Tuesday). So we came back the following week. As we walked in I noticed the colorful Mexican murals on the wall and we were greeted by the staff, which were 100% Mexican, so I knew the food was going to be authentic. Like most Mexican places I’ve been to, there’s no craft beer; just Mexican beers, which is fine. However, they do have a full bar, including a blender to make those tasty margaritas. I decided to go with a Negra Modello, which ended up pairing very well with my dinner. After we ordered our food, a server came over and gave us a miniture cheese quesadilla type appetizer! I love when places include a free app with your entrée. I was in a taco/enchilada mood, so I went with a combination entrée which came with a taco, a tamal, and an enchilada. I was very surprised when I saw that they used a hard shell for the taco which appeared to be store bought. This kind of makes me question the authenticity of their food. However, there were a lot of different types of non-typical type entrées on the menu. So, maybe tacos is not their specialty? After we were done eating, they brought over a free dessert. A miniature sweet chimiganga, which was made with a banana wrapped in a tortilla with honey amd topped with whipped cream. I’m not sure if our entrees came with the free app and dessert or if it’s a promotional thing their doing but it definitely brightened up the meal. I’m glad they hooked us up, but the hard taco shells left a bad taste in my mouth; no pun intended.
