Slow service. Food was way too greasy. The taco chips were soaking in grease when we got them. They had the chance to impress us and blew it. Thanks, but no thanks. Did I mention the greasy food?

Great little Am-Mex eatery hidden away across from Miller Park. Good food, good prices, specials throughout the week. Super friendly staff — well worth a try. Oh, and breakfast is awesome!

Service was good and food was great. We had Eric’s breakfast tacos. Very satisfied with breakfast and will return to try something else on the menu.

Showed up on a Wednesday morning at 6:40AM and they were closed. Unfortunately this had to be my first experience at Eric’s. Maybe they need to update their business hours because everything I saw(on their door and on Unilocal) indicates they open at 6 am every day of the week. Maybe I’ll have better luck next time…

I really wanted to like and support this place — a family-owned restaurant in a part of town that doesn’t have a lot of dining options — but it was a real disappointment. I hope for their sake that they were just having an off day, or they will never survive in a town that has other options for good Mexican food. First off, the sticky menus and thick plastic table covers are kind of gross and do not provide a very inviting welcome to the restaurant — we almost walked out without ordering. A friendly waitress came right away to take our order, so we decided to stay. Unfortunately, the food itself was a real disappointment. The tortilla chips — which were made from flour tortillas rather than the typical corn tortillas — were incredibly greasy and fried to a tasteless crisp. The salsa was ok, but a little thin and watery. Note: The chips and salsa are not included in the price of the meal, as is typical of Mexican restaurants in this town, so we actually paid for these nearly inedible«appetizers». The meal itself wasn’t much better. I had the steak chimichanga; my husband had the chorizo chimichanga. The chimis themselves weren’t bad, but the rice and beans were bland and the chimis were smothered in a thick gelatinous cheese sauce that sat unmelted on top of the chimis, along with a tiny amount of lettuce and tomato and some other, unmelted, shredded cheese. I took my leftovers home and reheated them for lunch the next day — they actually weren’t bad once the cheese sauce melted. I added some salsa and sour cream at home to give it a little more flavor. I am sorry to say that I won’t be in any hurry to eat here again.

Food was barely adequate and the place is gross. Sticky tables(this is a common complaint) and an overburdened waitress did nothing to help the mediocre food. One waitress for 8 tables, their register was broken, and it smelled like a grease trap was backed up. Try El Porton or the taqueria on south main if you want good local Mexican food.

This place is all kinds of wrong. Like the other reviewer said, the menus are sticky and so was the table and there was a weird smell in the place. We were the only ones there on a Thursday night. Server was nice but apparently new. Ordered chips and salsa — which costs $ 2.25 and chips were greasy. Then had the chile relleno which was burned tasting, covered with a fried egg and then hidden under iceberg lettuce and a little bit of cheese. For an authentic place, there was nothing authentic about it.

Eric’s is perhaps the best-kept secret in BloNo. It’s tucked away in a residential area adjacent to Miller Park. Its exterior makes it look like a seedy establishment; but it offers some of the better Mexican food in the BloNo area, and certainly the best for the value. We stopped in after visiting the Zoo just because it was within walking distance, and enjoyed it thoroughly(Including a Texan who takes Mexican and TexMex cuisine overly-seriously.). The Mexican food was served in generous portions for a quite modest price, offering two or three meals worth of food in a sitting. The ambiance leaves a bit to be desired(Not quite a dive bar, not quite a restaurant, just somewhere in between.), but Eric is affable and accommodating, the food was delicious and free of the negative consequences that can sometimes come with Mexican food, and has become a staple of Mexican food for us in BloNo. To those ordering the burger deal: It’s a Mexican restaurant. Please do not be shocked if their burgers, offered to appease the bland and unadventurous palate of the average Midwesterner, isn’t outstanding. It’s like being upset a steakhouse doesn’t do a good salad: Be glad it has the option, but don’t expect much as it’s not their forte. Be adventurous, try something surprising, and Eric’s is sure to delight.

Eric’s is located just north of Miller Park. I’d heard Eric’s was a place to check out for some solid Mexican food, so I was surprised to find the following specials when I went there: $ 2.50 Budweiser pints daily& $ 2.50 Burger and fries. I’d definitely recommend the Mexican cuisine. I would not recommend Eric’s if you’re craving a burger and fries. I didn’t try the Budweiser.

I have been wanting to try Eric’s for a few months now and finally made time to go. It was well worth it! We got the chips and salsa before our meal, and they were so fresh and delicious. The chips were unlike bagged chips at most Mexican restaurants. They were crisp, fluffy and perfect with the fresh salsa. They had a special on margaritas for $ 2.50. Had a strawberry one which was perfect on a hot summer night. I highly recommend the tacos, they are al a carte per say, so you can get a variety of meats. I tried a pork and a chorizo and both were delicious. For a fairly hidden place, it was well worth making time to try somewhere new. And I will be back for more!

This place is disgusting. Tables are sticky menus are nasty. Margaritas taste like a mix. Food was drenched in grease. I just got done vomiting because I think I got food poisoning there. The service was slow and terrible. They messed up half our order.

We go to Eric’s after church for breakfast. I love that it’s not very crowded(i.e. no wait after church) which isn’t the best news for Eric, but it’s one of the main reasons I like it there. The menu was recently updated and you really can’t go wrong. They have all the traditional items and several with a Mexican flare. I like the ultimate omelet or huevos con chorizo. My favorite lunch special it the hard tacos on Thursdays. They make their own hard shells and they are good.

Just ordered Eric’s from now they deliver. 2 stars because the taco and tostada were good. Chips and salsa? Left something to be desired. The chips, while I appreciate being home made were far too greasy! Salsa, far too runny, like dipping chips into vinegar. They included 2 hot sauce cups, the verde was tasty, the hot sauce one? Was about to pop open which tells me its old/expired. I Also ordered a cheeseburger and fries. Where to begin? Fries were soggy but then again most fries delivered are. The cheese burger had no cheese, guess they forgot or got it wrong, it was burned and dry. The bun? Soaking wet and when I picked it up my fingers squished through the bread and I was touching the patty. Why serve this to some one who PAID for it? Didn’t eat the burger or the fries, Dog seemed to enjoy it though…

Eric’s is in a cool neighborhood that holds a very warm place in my heart. Friends of friends own the place and are nice people. We know a few regulars as well(a fun bunch indeed), but irrespective, have come to really appreciate the variety and quality of the daily specials and when in doubt, the crispy tacos and quesadillas always rock! Portion sizes and prices are reasonable too. We recommend eating and drinking in the just-reopened bar on the other side of the kitchen. It can be dark, lively and wonderfully nefarious all at the same time. The beer selection could be better and the karaōke nights and late nights in general should be avoided, but theres no arguing the authenticity of the eats and drinks!

This restaurant serves Mexican and American food. It has the style of a regular American diner and ISNOT fancy. Good food but nothing amazing(yet) and decent prices.

Ever heard of a best kept secret? Well, Eric’s Restaurant is certainly one of them. While the name Eric doesn’t sound so authentic, you get to see Eric’s s photo and story on the back of the menu. He’s hispanic and his recipes are too! While at first i was a bit put off to learn the chips and salsa aren’t complimentary as so many Mexican restaurants are these days, upon first bite I realized these were like no other and certainly worth the tiny $ 2.75 charge. Honestly, the fresh fried chips and handmade salsa paired as the best chips and salsa I have ever tasted. On came the entrees, Eric’s giant burrito and tostadas topped with fresh sliced avocados(wet meatless this meal). One can also order a meat topping id desired. Both entrees were delicious and generously portioned. We will be back. Hear breakfast is delicious here!

I really enjoyed my meal at Eric’s. Went to the zoo with my friends, and it’s very conveniently located right across the street. Our server was excellent. She was friendly and very, very attentive. We had some good conversations. The owner also came out to welcome us and talk for a bit. Overall, a very nice group of people. All of my friends got Mexican food, and I opted for a double cheeseburger. Mine was HUGE. Cooked very nicely too, and the fries had great seasoning. Nobody had complaints about their food, either. Everything we got was very reasonably priced.
