Awesome delicious. If you are looking for an authentic Mexican Torta, there is no better place near by. Their pozole and tacos are also great.

Actually had some items I hadn’t seen in many different Hispanic grocery stores from years living in California. Has a panaderia, carniceria, and also a small Mexican restaurant inside.

Another decent authentic taco place located inside a Mexican grocery store. They have many dishes on their menu but both times I came here I had tacos. I love the corn soft shells and my favorites are the shrimp and al pastor. The place isn’t super clean and the service is so-so. My biggest complaint is you wait in line to order, take a seat, and after you have to wait in line again to pay. I’d rather pay up front so I can leave when I’m done. I don’t understand why the authentic Mexican mom & pop places do this. Must be a cultural thing or perhaps they want it to appear like a normal restaurant with waiter service.

OK… yes they have an aisle of drinks made with real or cane sugar. YES this is one place you can buy nopales and tunas(cactus leaf and fruit). AND yes if you are looking to light a candle, this place has an inordinate amount of candles. oh and YES this is where you go to buy Santa Muerte(Blessed Death) merchandise(I didn’t realize that was popular in some circles). This place also sells food! Its like a mini PRORANCHMARKET(Texas). The biggest and scariest problem with this place is that in 2012 you can go in there and find items that expired in 2009~~ Really, i took a picture to prove it. That concerned us enough that we will NEVER eat anything from there since its possible and likely that they use ingredients from said store shelves to season and help prepare said food items… All I’m saying is that you NEED, let me repeat, NEED to check the labels before you buy anything… I never in my life ever thought I would actually see EXPIREDRAMENNOODLES… until the other day that the last 5 Oriental Flavored Ramen at this place HADALREADYEXPIRED in 2010… yes folks, you read that right, 2010. I implore you to look first before you buy — WHY? because the lack of concern on the cashier’s face when we presented said expired items truly makes me think that as soon as we left the store, they simply re-shelved the items. SCARYTIMES

Dammit… I haven’t written a review in quite a while now. This one is a super-downer. I really had high hopes for this store. The store«looks» like it has some hard to find and great stuff. That’s the only good part about it. Well, I don’t know about the deli and restaurant part, I won’t comment on them. But as far as the store portion, holy shizznit. Almost every shelf had products that are expired. Not by 1 week or month… 1YEAR or more… I am not even kidding you… ATALL. Products that are used by the targeted ethnic population(mine, hispanic) are ok. But anything else from ramen to brown sugar, to pancake mix… expired… picked up a can of diced Hunt’s tomatoes, it’s 12/2011, expired 05⁄2009. I will not be going there anymore, and will not try the restaurant or deli side. Too scared to.

Sure they are located next to the DMV and a truck stop, but don’t let that scare you away, they’ve got good stuff. Much bigger than I expected. They have a good selection of hard to find food items and very friendly staff. The shelves are somewhat bare, the store is oddly organized, but everything looks clean. In the back they have a small little taqueria. Most of my review is based on the food from here. The tacos here are cheaper than at El Porton or El Merendon($ 1.49 each) and are very good. You can get three of them with a small drink and rich and beans for $ 5.49. The Al Pastor taco definitely held its own. The beef tongue and the Asada were just okay. The selections of salsa were all good. My friend had a torta and enjoyed it. One advantage Lupita’s has over El Porton or El Merendon is the huge selection of drinks available. Being a grocery store there is an entire wall of drinks available, most made with real sugar. No beer available though. Lupita’s will enter my rotation of taquerias.
