I got coffee here today around 2pm. The barista makes horrible lattes. Literally half of my cup was filled with foam! I can’t believe I paid $ 5. This is the second time. Learn how to make coffee or stick to the register!

The baked goods at Sugar & Spice got me through many a stressful spots during graduate school. A little corner shop in the Indiana Memorial Union, it’s a convenient place to grab whatever sweet or pastry you like as well as coffee or other beverages. One of the most revered items they make is the Special K Chewie, a glorious concoction of cereal, peanut butter, and Karo syrup. Ask any IU alum and chances are that he or she will rave about them. Sweet, chewy, crunchy — these no-cook cookies are fantastic. It’s hard to believe that such deliciousness can be had for just $ 1.09! I know they make other cookies, but this is the one for me. When I mentioned that I now lived out of state, the staff told me that they can ship them to me. What?!? I really shouldn’t know this, it could be dangerous. If you have reason to be on the IU campus as a guest, student, or traveler, make sure you stop by Sugar & Spice for a quick breakfast or afternoon snack. I made sure there were also some Special K Chewies in my bag for the drive home!

Peets Coffee is delicious and the baked goods are as well. Although there’s a Starbucks nearby, I prefer Sugar and Spice over it every time I’m at the IMU just because it’s cashiers are friendlier and I think Peets Coffee has a richer aftertaste. Some recommendations from the menu include the Chai Masala Javiva(like a frappeccino) and the Caramel Macchiato! You can’t go wrong with a roasted self-serve coffee either! My favorite is the dark roast Peet Classic(I forget it’s name. Captain something?)

The baked goods are great! I highly recommend the Special K Chewys. They are addicting. The matcha frios are delicious. I’m only giving 3 stars because the espresso drinks and hot chocolate leaves much to be desired.

The no-bake chocolate oatmeal peanut butter cookies are the same now as they were back in 1978 when I was a stoned IU student, wandering into the Union for munchies. Delicious.

Lovely little place in IMU, they offer cup cakes, muffins, and I think they also make birthday cakes and wedding cakes, although their cup cakes are too sweet for me, lol

Not a bad little shop where you can get coffee and baked goods at the IMU. They carry Peet’s coffee, which is of decent quality and some prefer it to Starbucks. They keep the coffee pretty fresh at this location – there are timers next to each coffee dispenser and it looks like they pour it out and make a fresh batch after it’s been sitting out for a certain period of time. The baked goods are overall good. I don’t know how much of it they make on-premise or if it’s carted in from somewhere else, but everything I tried tasted fresh, like it had been made same-day or maybe the day before. They do need to work on improving the personal hygiene standards they enforce on their employees. There were two different males I encountered working there during the week I was at IU and they both had body odor issues. Not very pleasant when you’re purchasing food products.

Love going here for their cookies and cupcakes! It’s amazing they have a delicious bakery right on campus conducive to afternoon breaks from work!
