The sushi here is mighty tasty. It’s fresh, quick to your table and I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking to get sushi. The only knock I have against this restaurant is that it is small due to its location. Other than that, we will definitely be going back.

This is one of my favorite lunch spots! Prices are great! I’ve never been disappointed in anything i’ve ordered. Highly recommend trying it!

Long menu of choices and can be pretty darn pricey but worth it for the lunch menu. Their sushi is fair and their proper meals looked enticing, a great lunch option even for slightly larger groups though it is a smaller space. They are also super accommodating about omissions and substitutions in their rolls and their staff is fun, speedy and quip-y which is always appreciated!

Read the menu. It’s not anywhere close to all you can eat sushi, and the sushi quality wasn’t even that good. The premise is a novelty only but you have to pay more to have more sushi options. I was really disappointed. The server was kind of awkward, too.

I was definitely impressed with the sushi here. It was ultra fresh, and tasty! The shrimp tempura sushi was the best I’ve ever had! I was a little disappointed with the lettuce wraps(they didn’t even give a full leaf of lettuce for each wrap. It was like, ¼ leaf for each«wrap»). Other than that I thought it was very good and I would definitely recommend it.(I got takeaway so I can’t comment on the service which seems to be something that is hit or miss based on other review) Updating for service review– went in to Yumz for lunch and the service was fair to poor. They completely forgot about an appetizer and was not apologetic about it when we reminded them. Also no one smiled. Service was a 2.5÷5. Disappointing and knocks my overall review from 4 to 3 stars. Maybe just stick with takeout.

Stopped for lunch while in Bloomington shopping. WOW! What a great place for sushi, very unique rolls, great service. The icing on the cake is the reasonable prices. If I lived in Bloomington my wife and I would be regulars.

It’s good sushi. And considering there are only a handful of places that serve in town anymore, I am on this like carbs on rice. Do yourself a favor and think about how hungry you really are, and do some math and see if what you want to eat is really cheaper than the all-you-can-eat levels. For me, there’s one roll that I love at the highest level, but usually I just need that one, another roll and two nigiri and I am full without hating myself. So a la carte is better that way. And that roll, though? It’s weird but really good. Tempura shrimp with mango and coconut. And unlike some other places, that piece of shrimp is still warm from the fryer. To me that is impressive. Four stars because *sometimes* the service is … more utilitarian and efficient rather than friendly. Do not sit by the door in the winter. Counter seats are pretty low and I’d have to keep my elbows on the surface to eat. Seating’s a little awkward but frankly these are things that I’ll overlook as I keep coming back.

Finally! A place in Bloomington that sells delicious sushi! My wife and I are very picky about our sushi, and had given up on any place in Bloomington/Normal. We’ve just been driving to Champaign any time we wanted sushi. Those days are over. The sushi here is excellent and they even have an all you can eat special where you order it fresh a piece at a time. They just require you to eat everything you order so as not to waste expensive food. Bloomingtonites, come here and see what sushi is supposed to taste like!

I just ate here for the first time and decided to go with the General Tso’s Chicken. It was very flavorful — perhaps the best I’ve ever had. It really was that good! I ordered the lunch portion so I definitely could have eaten a little bit more. The hot & sour soup was ok and the egg roll was fine. Overall, a good experience and I will likely come back and do the all-you-can-eat sushi lunch for $ 13.99. I’m also thinking this might be my «go to» place for Chinese carry out. Also, some other comments criticized the service. My service was good! It was fast and friendly, however I came during a slow time. This is definitely one of the best sushi /Chinese places in town.

The food was just ok. The staff were friendly, but need to be a bit more attentive. I will probably give this place another try at some point, but I’m not going out of my way to get there.

The best sushi place in town, easily, and a good deal as far as price is concerned. Very fresh fish, amazing service, and the appetizers are outstanding! Beyond the sushi, they have a very good Chinese/Japanese fusion menu if sushi isn’t your thing, like their orange chicken(which was surprisingly light, and waaaaay better than panda express). It’s a surprisingly nice little restaurant tucked away between a vitamin store and… something else. It’s cozy, fantastic, and well worth the search. Can’t wait to go back!

Compared to other sushi restaurants in town this one definitely feels like a traditional sushi restaurant. Great menu selection, cheap prices but not sacrificing quality to get there. Staff is extremely polite and friendly. It’s definitely worth trying you will enjoy the experience.

I usually do not write reviews but I had to about this place. Went there for lunch with a co-worker and it was absolutely amazing. I went with the all you can eat option for 13.99 just because I was eyeing 2 specialty rolls that would of came out to that amount anyways and it was well worth it. The sushi was very fresh and the wait staff was very polite and the wait time was not long at all even though it was busy. There are some complaints in the other reviews about how the service was bad but that was not my experience in the slightest bit. By far the best sushi in town and I will be back there the next chance I get.

First, The ambiance was nice and calming, it looked like a small diner but with a fancier look, the TV had food network on and this is one thing I hate about restaurants with TV’s and with food network. PLEASETURNONCLOSEDCAPTIONING, I’m a person who enjoys the food network and I’d love to know what they’re eating/making especially chopped and DDD. Second, The food I had was divided into 2 orders. First, the sushi was great. The sweet tofu skin was delicious, a little hard to eat if you can’t fit it all in your mouth. The Tamago was OK. The white tuna was good, that’s about it. Third This is the second part of my meal, the entrée’s. Their ginger salad dressing was superb I love it, The Miso soup didnt have much flavor to it to me it felt like it was watered down go have more servings. The main I ordered is the Salmon Katsu. Normally Katsu doesn’t have too much flavor going for it, it’s pretty much a battered and breaded piece of meat, so what makes the katsu stand out? It would be the sauce, and I was dissapointed in the sauce. it was too thick and tasted too sweet. I had better experiences dipping the katsu in the soy sauce. Also, their rice was too dry for my preference Fourth and Last. I did order carry out, I ordered shrimp and vegetable tempura, and like the katsu, the sauce can make the dish complete. and It was great, nice flavor and really completes the tempura experience. Overall: I gave this place 3 stars as it mean A-OK, the katsu sauce was disappointing, but I don’t have high expectations whenever I order katsu from any restaurant. I will definitely come back for the sushi and tempura, as well as to try out their other dishes

Overall, it is an awful experience. Food is below par, price is very high given that quality. Service is no where come close to make customer satisfied. Basically, regardless of your request and feedback, pay us full price, meanwhile, you HAVETO eat all crappy food otherwise, penalty is charged. Food: sushi rice is very dried, roasted seaweed wrap is so hard to chew, that taste like rubber band. Fish is not fresh, that has been sat out for a long while that tastes dry and dead. By the time you have your 4th pieces, your stomach is literally full from the tough rice or loss all your appetite. If you know blo-no well, I would say their sushi quality is similar or worse than hibachi grill. worse than imperial buffet. and a lot worse than anju above. Service and management: Waitress are new, understandable that they don’t have much knowledge on the menu, at least nice attitude. Store manager was bad though, she argues with customers, tell you if you don’t like it, too bad! They charge you penalty if you can’t eat it simply because of the bad quality. They tell you :“You HAVETO eat this whole piece, otherwise, you are charged with penalty.” Basically, they are telling customers ‘too bad, that you have a reasonable taste and standard for food and services you are looking for, pay full price, and leave!’ Price: it is $ 21 for all you can eat sushi. It is not all you can eat, there are various of limitations. Those limitation goes to $ 26 option. So, you can’t eat as much as sashimi as you want. You can actually have 4 pieces per item. They are basically not honest about their selling point. Waitress asked me if I want anything to drink, I said tea is fine. You would assume that tea is included in all you can eat. NO! you are wrong. They will charge you 3 dollars for a cup of tea. It is outrageous. I wish this place can be better. Otherwise, I would really suggest you find you a better place to spend your precious time and money. You are not getting happiness back from this restaurant.

Okay, so here’s the deal. It’s kind of a win-lose scenario coming here. The win is that the sushi here is really great and also affordable. The lose, though is that the whole experience is cringe worthy when it comes to service. The host stand is awkwardly in the middle of the restaurant. The servers either are spread very thin with other tables or(like today’s visit) are so uninformed on how to wait on a table that it hurts. The food also takes unreasonably long to come to the table. If the food didn’t stand up for itself, I would never come back. But gosh dangit the sushi is really tasty.

Yumz has an all you can eat option, but it was $ 21 for dinner. So instead we ordered rolls. This sushi place is better than Kobes japanese steakhouse. The tables are very clean and the atmosphere is very calming. This is the best sushi place in Bloomington. The portion sizes are not as big compared to kobes. I like it because I wasn’t forcing myself to finish anything. My stomach still had room and it was cheaper for lesser pieces. About 5 to 6 pieces per roll. Around $ 1 to $ 2 for once piece of nigiri sushi. They served their water in cute mason jars! Atmosphere 5⁄5. Yumz keep the lights pretty dim and creates a very calm enviroment. It has a few booths, but mosly individual tables for two. I came here with my boyfriend and we ordered Dragon roll, spicy crab, mango tango and 2 salmon nigiri, 2 eel nigiri and 2 yellow tail. The spicy crab roll is 4⁄5 it is not very spicy, just mild so it is perfect for someone who can’t really eat spicy and would still like to try it. I like more spicy stuff so i give it only 4⁄5.(don’t judge my rating system!) The dragon roll 5⁄5 the eel has a nice soft texture with fresh avocado and cucumber. The rice is not too sour from the vinegar. The chef also put the perfect amount of sauce. Usually the sushi rice falls apart when too much sauce is added. The rice stayed solid and was easy to pick up . Mango Tango 5⁄5. This was my first time trying sushi with mango, but WOW. I was blown away. It was so fresh and crunchy. If you are someone who likes crunchy and sweet stuff you should try this roll. It is more pricy. Around $ 6. They put cucumber and fake crab meat on the inside. The outside has a slice of mango and some sweet mango sauce. Salmon/eel/yellowtail nigiri 5⁄5. Very fresh and nice fish to rice proportion Service is not the fastest. So patience is key.

For a brand new restaurant that has fresh sushi it was delicious. Small restaurant for seating on the inside. The owners are very knowledgeable in their sushi, are really nice people, and they have lived here in Bloomington for 10 years. Portions are good sized for the price, and come displayed pretty on your plate. I decided on the all you can eat sushi, which came with miso soup and house salad. After eating 4 different maki rolls, I almost had wished I had ordered just a couple rolls the first«round». Tips: Make sure that you only order a little bit at a time, especially with rice based rolls you can fill up fast. You can’t share your all you can eat with anyone else at the table, and you’ll pay 50 cents for every piece that isn’t eaten. Can’t blame them as the seafood quality is high and that would be throwing money away if they didn’t up-charge for this.

Probably the best sushi in Bloomington. Very nice waitress. Very good prices for very good sushi. We’ll definitely be back. Nicely decorated and clean.
