Underwhelming. Not impressed, especially when there are so many other restaurants in the area with higher star ratings.

You must try the home made potato chips, they are served while still warm and are amazing!(The sliders were good but the chips stole the show.)

Good service, the food was fair, not the hearty breakfast I was looking forward too. Food wasn’t as hot as hot as I’d liked it to be either, hashbrowns were cold. Coffee was very good though(big coffee fan). More expensive than than I’d like especially since the food wasn’t 100%.

This place was just fair for breakfast. We tried other places for breakfast but they all required reservations. Southern comforts did not. That says a little about the place. There are way better places for food in Blowing Rock. Just make a reservation in advance.

Whether it’s breakfast or lunch you can’t go wrong with this place. Food is excellent as well the service. Roast turkey is just like thanksgiving. Highly recommend.

Loved my visit to Southern Comforts! Our hotel offered a(included prepared) breakfast, but this was SOMUCH better! I got the basics, but next time want to try their Pigs In A Blanket(sausage links wrapped in pancakes). Our server wasn’t the best, but not bad either & prices were great. Will be back!

This place gets me every time. Family friendly but also great for a couples brunch. I once commented on how delicious the desserts sounded and I was taken back into the kitchen to see all the delicious pies up close. The service is great, the atmosphere comfortable and the food DELICIOUS.

Delicious, fast and easy. Check in was great and they were spot on with he wait times. The waitress was wonderful and I can’t believe she managed to remember everything. The food was delicious the country ham in particular was delicious as was the pancakes! For a smaller place you don’t feel cramped or rushed and the kitchen seems to be able to time very thing out just perfect with a table of six everyone’s food was steaming hot and fresh. Very good place.

Southern Comfort. More like southern discomfort. Nothing about this place was inviting. The abysmal sanitation, rude staff, and disregard for basic restaurant etiquette made it hard to enjoy our meal. The food wasn’t terrible, but by the time it arrived we were all hesitant to indulge. A few highlights of our experience: — Lipstick on our coffee mug. — A waitress accidentally putting her hand in someone’s gravy, and then proceeding to serve it. — An unpresentable and rude wait staff. — Lack of accountability from the managers. — Low-quality and over priced food. When you go out to a restaurant, you’re paying someone else to prepare your food safely and ethically at a bare minimum. Southern Comfort certainly won’t make you feel comfortable in this regard. We don’t recommend spending your money here.

Ate there recently. The food had no taste and simply was terrible. I realize the owner has had a lot of past restaurant experience but our experience was not good. I hope this improves but I cannot recommended at this time.

Food: 3.5 Service: 4 Ambience: 3 Date/Time: 8÷12÷20151:00pm This is a very simple diner type setting that serves breakfast all day but also has a lunch menu. The table and chairs and booths are simple as well. Eggs were made as requested and wasn’t swimming in grease like some places so that was big points alone! Hash browns were also tasty. The chicken pot pie was probably the best of all that we ordered and was pretty good! The server was friendly and moderately attentive but the hostess was definitely either having a bad day or is tired of working there. The food was delivered lightning fast so they must have much of the menu pre-prepared. I’d recommend it if you’re looking for some decent breakfast or southern cooking with no expectations for ambience. Just good food :-)

I am from the mountains of North Carolina and whenever I go back, I crave the things that I miss from my childhood and never eat now. This was a great place to go. I ordered a liver mush sandwich on sourdough bread and it was terrific. I also tasted the country ham and a banana pancake and they were great as well. I didn’t get to the biscuits and gravy, but they were served at a neighboring table and they looked fantastic. The ladies seated there said they were just as good as they looked.

I was very disappointed with our experience at Southern Comforts. Maybe this is a good breakfast spot but we went for dinner. The fact that there was only one table occupied on a Friday night at 6pm should have been a huge indicator to turn around and walk out. The service was decent however the food was horrible… and I’m really not a tough critic. I think all the food was frozen, canned, or left overs from the week… or all of the above. I’ve never had such a poor experience at a restaurant in the way of taste of food which is why I felt compelled to write this review. Seriously, spare yourself the disappointment and find a different place to eat!!!

Recently moved to the area and been looking for a great local place to eat… esp breakfast food! This place is great! So far I’ve had pancakes, eggs, eggs Benedict, livermush, biscuits and gravy, and omelettes… all were really good! And get Betty to be your server… she’s Blowing Rock’s version of Flo :-)

My husband and I did a little road trip through North Carolina and stopped in to different restaurants along the way. We stopped in at Southern Comforts for breakfast on our way out of town. It’s a very cute place and the waitstaff was very friendly! Our food was pretty good, but I ordered hash browns and got little cubes of potato, which were disappointing. I never add salt to my meals, but I had no choice but to salt the«hash browns». My french toast was good and my husband had an omelet, which he sad was very good. Definitely not my favorite, but it was ok.

Experienced a delicious breakfast today during peak brunch time. The coffee was delicious and was refilled often. Some recommendations: eggs Benedict, ham egg and cheese on sourdough, grits, hash browns and the biscuits. The décor is very charming and the waitstaff was kind and helpful. We waited for about 15 mins before being seated. The prices are great as well. We will definitely return on our next visit to Blowing Rock.

After a horrible experience the previous day at Sunrise Grill in Boone, we were hoping to leave our weekend trip to Boone/Blowing Rock having experienced some good breakfast food. This place was recommended by our hotel and we were so appreciative for the recommendation. I would certainly return to Southern Comforts. Décor was fresh and modern, but still traditional. Our waitress was prompt and very sweet. Food was delicious and served quickly despite the full dining room – I splurged on the banana/strawberry French toast and it was delicious. Highly recommend!

Decent quality food, nice server today… seems like they are still trying to get things together here. It must be fairly new. The waitress told us the cook hadn’t shown up… and I had a piece of paper in my omlet… the kind that comes between slices of cheese. Overall food was still good and server was over whelmed but still polite. B–
