I went to the cake pan for my daughters party it was frozen theme and way to complex for me but they pulled it off it was beautiful. My daughter loved the cake and it was delicious. Close convenient location will definitely be going back for future birthdays. Thank you guys for making cake magical. Oh and when she delivered she gave us free cupcakes for being like 2 min. Late she was extremely kind.

The Cake Pan is a great local resource. They make beautifully decorated custom cakes and cream cheese mints. You can also order wedding invitations and napkins. They rent champagne and chocolate fountains and cake pans. The store carries a huge variety of cake decorating equipment, candy making supplies and rental cake pans. Unlike most of the local craft stores, they carry many different brands, not just Wilton. They are very knowledgeable, and will help you find exactly what you need for whatever you are working on. They will also special order items for you if they don’t carry it in the store. They teach a wonderful and fun candy making class(all supplies included), as well as Wilton cake decorating classes that include information you won’t get at Jo-Anne’s, Michael’s or Hobby Lobby. I took Wilton classes 1 and 2 once at a local craft store and again at The Cake Pan(twenty some years later), and I found The Cake Pan classes to much more informative. Also, at The Cake Pan, Kathy(the owner and teacher) will do whatever she can do to help you. If you forget something, Kathy will loan it to you; she will let you use her icings and equipment: she will teach you tips and tricks that she has learned from her many years of experience as a cake decorator. That would never happen at your local craft shop, where you are out of luck if you forget something, and they teach only what they are required to. Every time I walk in, I feel like a kid in a candy store, and there are treasures around every corner. And no, they don’t take debit or credit cards, but now that you know that, you can plan ahead and take your check book or cash. It’s worth the effort.

This has been in the same location for years. It does serve a purpose. It was the closest place that had an 8×3 inch cake pan. I never would’ve gone there, but I need it for a class. On the door, there’s a sign, «No plastic, just cash and checks.» Thank goodness I had visited the ATM beforehand. Every character pan is crammed in every corner, and there’s tons of them. The thing is, they are for rental. $ 20 down, and $ 5.25. This is a good idea, if you don’t want to stare at a Thomas Tank Engine pan for 20 years, and wonder why. I recognized the pans as Wilton pans, yet they told me the supplier no longer makes these pans. You can get them online, but honestly, it’s better to rent them. You wouldn’t want them in your cabinet. As for cake supplies? Few and far between. I think Jo Ann’s has the better of cake supplies, and I only came in luck to find the 8×3 inch pan I went to the shop for. I’m glad I only wanted one thing, and had the cash in my purse for it. I also asked her about fondant, for a class. I received this answer: «Where did you take the class?» I told her, «Jo Ann’s.» Then she said, «Most who take them at Jo Ann’s, comes here, and retake it in our class. Are you going to retake it?» I said, «No, I liked my class. I felt I learned what i needed to know from it.» I also told her that Jo Ann’s is much closer. I don’t like it when someone indicates that you’re training isn’t as good as what they give. It’s the same training, same course. Despite this store being close, I won’t be back, cause I don’t intend to rent a pan. But the service is there, if you need it. The Baker’s Rack in Lenexa is by far, the best store for these items. If you do go to the Cake Pan, be sure to bring cash, and to be specific on what you want. Also don’t expect greatness. I asked about triangle pans(they carry them at the Baker’s Rack, and you can get them online.), yet she told me they no longer make them.
