Gigi’s Cupcakes of Blue Springs

Extremely friendly staff and very informative! The cupcake icing is incredible! I visit atleast once per week and will always come back! Keep up the great work!

Extremely dry and crumbly cake. Icing was tasty but had scrape off some. Won’t go back

Not a fan. They never seem to be close to being ready for customers hen I’ve arrived 30min after opening, two times. They are usually out of the filled cookies and any cupcake I’ve ever had hasn’t been very impressive. I like Smallcakes much much better. The cake at Gigi’s tastes dry and boxed and the icing has too much of a butter flavor. Again, not a fan.

We stopped in here on the way to Kansas City, since they were rated #40 on the best 101 cupcakes list in the US. The cupcakes were decorated simply, but nice. We ordered a chocolate chip cookie dough cupcake and a strawberry shortcake cupcake. The frosting on the chocolate chip cookie dough was good, but the cake was very dry. The strawberry shortcake cupcake was more moist, but I’ve had better. We also tried their chocolate chip cookies, but they were nothing special. They had samples of the Midnight Magic cupcake out. The chocolate frosting on that was good, but once again, the chocolate cake was dry. I guess I expected more after seeing them on that article.

We have given gigi’s three tries, and every time it falls short. The latest experience yesterday, takes the cake (get it) They were out of stuffed cookies, which we wanted to try because as previously expressed we’ve not been impressed. They were out, so we went with yet another flavor of cupcake. Strawberry it was dry and bland with a huge blop of overly sweet icing on top. We wanted to purchase a water but the high school kid that rang us up was in the back, never to be seen again. Which is what gigi’s will be seeing of us. If you want a good cupcake, check out small cakes. They do it right.

My mom, my kids, and I stopped in for a little snack yesterday. We had been looking forward to trying this shop for several weeks. We were quite disappointed. We ordered 3 of the Princess cupcakes, and one candy bar cupcake. We all agreed that the actual «cake» part was very, very bland… Practically tasteless. They are topped with an enormous amount of icing… So much that we had to scrape it off. My daughter, in the process of scraping her icing off, accidentally dropped her untouched cupcake on the floor. I went back to the counter to order a new one for her (wouldn’t most businesses just give you a replacement for a crying 6 year old little girl? Yeah, I thought so, too.), and the girls who were working there were so busy talking about their big 1500 cupcake order from earlier in the day, they ignored me and the crying child for at least 5 minutes.
This made 5 cupcakes I had purchased, at $ 2.99 each. So I asked the girl if that meant I should, per the «buy 5 get one free» sign, get a sixth cupcake free. But she unapologetically snapped at me that «no, it has to all be on one transaction».
Fine. The cupcakes were gross, anyway.

My mom and I stopped by to try this place out. I felt it was nothing spectacular. The cupcake and cheesecake themselves taste very simple. My mother thought they were tasteless. Unnecessary large amount of icing on top of cheesecake and cupcakes. Our guess is that it’s used to mask the boring flavor of the ‘cake’ part.
The staff was friendly and the shop was cute. Maybe they will become more adventurous.
