Passion for Pastry made us beautiful, creative cake that tasted as good as it looked. The strawberry filling was to-die-for. The fondant was tasty — which isn’t how I usually feel about decorative cakes. It was a hit!!!

Not a fan of these cupcakes. They look pretty but I thought the icing tasted like shaving cream.(That may be an exaggeration but it definitely wasn’t a good icing.)

Really good white cake recipe, light and airy and delicious! The store is really cute but hard to find you can’t see the signs because of all the trees, we drove around the lot for 15 minutes before finding it… it is hiding in the corner in the same strip as Brewzzis. The day I went they didn’t have any of the fruit cupcakes in stock, so I was bummed about that, I would have loved to try the strawberry or blueberry cupcake. The carrot cake was really good. The vanilla buttercream was good, but I didn’t like the chocolate buttercream as much as I usually do. I also think it would be nice to have some chocolate mousse type options with the frosting, those are always my favorite!

Alright…$ 3.75 is a steep payment for the price of a cupcake… BUT. These cupcake are so big they last me two desserts! I got the funfetti cupcake which is just vanilla cake with vanilla sprinkles icing on top and it was delicious! The good thing is they sell mini cupcakes now so that you don’t have such a large portion. But when you think about it, should you pay $ 1.50 for a small cupcake in one bite or a $ 3.75 big one for two desserts?! lol. They’re macaroons are ginormous! The cookies are colossal and their muffins… well they’re the same, just plain HUGE!

So, we’ve been eating a lot of «gourmet» cupcakes around town lately, and I don’t know why. I’m normally not a sugar person, and subscribe to the thought that, «sugar is the devil». However, my sweet tooth has gotten the best of me over the past two months, and the cupcake display at Passion For Pastry lured me in while I was on a sprint to run a quick errand inside Boca Town Center. My husband and I chose the Almond Joy cupcake mostly because they ALL looked good, but a friend of ours(to whom we texted a picture of the cupcakes) said that is his favorite. So, we ordered it in his honor, sort of. While others have said the cake has been dry, that wasn’t the situation with this cupcake. The cake portion was moist and good, and the only truly edible and good part of this cake. The frosting wasn’t edible. I expected an Almond Joy cupcake to taste like coconut and almonds, just like the candy bar. The flavor was SOOVERWHELMINGLY almond, with bits of coconut that we couldn’t even taste, that we could barely stomach it. Now, I’m not a sugar person, so I thought maybe it was just *me*, but my husband has the palate of a child. He loves sugar and junk food. He drinks soda every day, and loves sweet stuff. *He* couldn’t take it either. It was WAYTOOSWEET! The sweet almond flavor seriously ruined the cupcake. Though the cupcakes here are actually cheaper than other cupcake shops in the area, it’s still too expensive to try another cupcake at this place, especially when you must endure the massive amounts of mall shoppers(even though many are cute lil’ ol’ ladies). Malls aren’t for me anyway, so I won’t be trying this place again. Simply not worth it.
