This Publix just reopened after a totally demolition and rebuild of the original store. I was blown away by how nice, clean and big it was. They have a great new salad and hot food bar and there were a plethora of free samples available. So much better than the old store that had stood for over 50 years! This is Publix at its best. Bravo!

Went to this newly remodeled Publix at the 5th Avenue Shops this morning and though it was nice, it seemed pretty dark. They moved some of my «regular» items to a different area and though the layout is very similar to some of their other stores, where they stock some items is different. Additionally, as you walk in there was a security officer which immediately told me this is not a safe place. I have come to this Publix when before the renovation and do not recall any security issues so not sure for the reason for the security guard and a Boca Raton Police cruiser patrolling the parking lot. Always fantastic staff at Publix, clean and an overall very good experience.

I make quick stops in this Publix a few times a week. It’s convenient for me because my office is right down the street. Just because I do a little shopping here does not mean I like this location. When I reviewed this location just over a year ago I gave my review one star. Over a year later I still agree with my one star review. Through my shopping experiences in this store I have learned what is safe to purchase and what to stay away from. I am comfortable buying my drug store items(aspirin, shampoo, etc.) here because the prices are less expensive than CVS. I also have done well with protein shakes and bars. They carry what I use and I have had no issues. Just like most other places the produce is hit or miss. If I stop in very early in the morning I like to pick up some watermelon or cantaloupe. Most of the time they will cut it up fresh for me. It depends on who is working. This drives me crazy. Some of the produce employees are just plain lazy but there are two who are great. Those guys are always honest too. If a melon is not good that day they will suggest something else. I appreciate their honesty a lot. I stay away from the seafood and meat departments. Both departments are dirty and do not look very appetizing. In my original review I mentioned the expiration dates on some of the dairy items, specifically the yogurt. A year later and I still have the same issue. I once pointed out a few expired containers of cottage cheese to the person who was restocking the shelves. His response was that the date is only the sell by date and is still good. Ummm, no thank you. Even if it’s true, why take the chance of getting sick. It’s just not worth it to me. The cashiers are always very friendly and outgoing. If this Publix was cleaner I would rate this review differently.

As someone who shops daily at publix for my business, this publix lacks service and product. I had been shopping for years at the Hidden valley publix and loved it there. The employees knew my name, the management did as well(something I expect when I come in every day at the same time for years), but when they moved the managers around, I no longer wanted to drive out of my way to hidden valley, so the 5th ave publix is the closest. I have now been shopping there for 3 years., The management has yet to learn my name… really, I am there every morning 6 days a week, and sometimes 2 times a day! they also are consistently out of something. Basic ingredients. And if you ask them to find it or call you, they make it seem like it is a big inconvenience. I miss my old Hidden Valley crew. I wish Publix would stop moving managers around so much.
