eh… too expensive for what it is. bland food, bland place. not bad, just boring. can do better elsewhere.

4 of us went there on a double date, what can I say? The food was boring and bland. There weren’t any cupcakes as advertised(I’m a bit of a cupcakeholic) and the food was just boring and bland. We had 3 vegetarian dishes, and 1 chicken. Thumbs down all around. I got the vegetarian coconut curry. I love curry. I don’t know what this was but it was lacking in, well everything. My friend got chicken coconut curry and poked at it after awhile and asked for hot sauce and salt. It was the same story with the other two dishes. Just very«eh». The server was nice and attentive but the place was empty aside from us. He was, however, pretty clueless about the entire menu. Overall, not impressed or enthused, won’t be going back.

Worst service ever, and we never even were allowed to eat! Where do I begin? The sign says they are open for summer from 5 – 9. We showed up on a Saturday night(6÷2÷12) at 8:15 where we were greeted by a waiter who said, «Because of the coupons, we are out of food, and the kitchen is closed.» So I replied, ok, well would you be willing to extend the coupon because you all are closed on Sunday and Monday and then the coupon will be expired. He asked his manager who sent him back to tell us, «no because the computers would not be able to honor it at that time.» Ok, so now I ask for the manager. A woman comes out, all smiles and says, «well if you read our website, the kitchen closes at 8:30.» It was 8:20 by the way. I said, «you realize i am willing to spend money… and you don’t want to take my money… and you aren’t willing to extend the coupon, because you are incapable of serving me when you are open for business.» She replied that if I would come after the expiration date, they would honor the face value of the coupon. She further replied that if I had read her facebook, or twitter, I would know that the kitchen closed at 8:30. With all due respect, I have better things to do than to research every bit of a website. And really??? You close on a Saturday night at 8:30? if you have a customer in your place of business, you want to create satisfaction, not a bad experience without even serving one bit of food. The Saveology coupon says they are open for business 11am-9pm Tuesday-Saturday. Apparently they live in a world where they are too cool to serve people at 8:30. I would tell you all out there to not go, but I have a feeling they won’t even be in business much longer if they continue to treat people this way.

Went with a group of 5 on a Wed night. One other table occuoied. Limited menu and wine list and no specials mentioned. Ordered 3 apps and 5 different entrees so we got a fair representation of their food. Also had a bottle of Reisling and a cab. The apps were expensive for what you get and average. As an example you get 4 little vege spring rolls that can be devoured in 2 bites. Best app was the chicken satay which was delicious. I really enjoyed my ravioli with seafood sauce. Scallops and shrimp in the sauce were small but tender. My wife had the tofu stir fry which was a bit bland and had too much cabbage. Other diners liked their mahi mahi, jerk chicken and the shrimp and grits. The service was a bit slow(one server) but friendly. had to ask for water and bread refills. Like the fact that a non vegan can dine here and be happy. The setting is not as nice as Sublime in Ft Lauderdale but as mentioned there are non vegan options. Would go again if invited by a vegan friend but not independently.

Went here on a Thursday night. The restaurant was about half full. We had a groupon and were waited on by a very polite young man. He offered me a sample of fruity iced tea so I could see if I liked it before ordering. We were offered a yummy bread for snacking. Ordered samosas for appetizers, a potato mixture in puff pastry. They arrived hot and fresh. The special was salmon with maple glaze with quinoa, which my husband ordered, and I had the jerk chicken, which was a dry rub as opposed to wet marinade. For dessert we split a cappuccino cupcake. Obviously this is a small personally run restaurant. While that may not suit some, that is my kind of place. No Cheesecake-Factory(i.e. huge) sized meals and everything freshly prepared. Every dish we had was well-flavored. I. will be back and I hope this little gem makes it.

Theme of the restaurant tonight…‘We’re out of it.’ Decided to try this restaurant as we try to eat healthier /vegetarian if we can, plus we had the groupon. We had reservations for 7:30 and when we got there this narrow strip mall restaurant was crowded, which was nice. Our table must have just cleared so we were seated promptly. I ordered a Peak Organic Beer which was good. Here’s where it gets interesting. We asked for some bread, especially after the good bread reviews here on Unilocal. The reply was ‘I’m sorry, we’re out of bread. just ran out’. Again, it’s 7:30 on a Saturday night. We then ordered our meals, including my friend ordering spaghetti with turkey meatballs. Waiter goes into kitchen, comes back out, ‘I’m sorry, were out of turkey meatballs’. My friend orders something different. But wait, there’s more… waiter comes back out and says we are out of raspberries for the raspberry salad! Are you kidding me? Let’s talk about the food. I had the pad thai. As said in other reviews, very very bland. I really didn’t enjoy it. And I paid extra for shrimp… about 6 very small shrimp. Others at the table had shrimp and their’s were all of the large variety. Pretty disappointed. My wife had steamed tofu and vegetables. This was decent, but nothing great(no rice or grain to accompany it). A friend had coconut curry shrimp, this was the best thing I tasted here, but nothing that great. Another thing to mention was that they brought our entrees separately, so everybody was waiting(with hot food) for the other dishes to arrive. At this point it’s about 9:10 and while i realize the restaurant closes at 9, tv’s were being shut off and cleaning around us. We got the feeling we needed to go. Which brings me to another point, ‘You close at 9 p.m. on a Saturday night??“ The 2 stars sums it up…‘Meh’. And it’s not inexpensive… the total bill for 4, with only 2 drinks, was $ 111 before tip. And to cap it all off. I went to the bathroom before we left… the urinal was out of out order… guess they were out of that too. lol

I went to this restaurant with a couple of friends and my sister. My friend had suggested it because she enjoyed it the previous time she went and said they had a lot of vegan friendly foods. I really was very impressed with the menu. This is not a completely vegan restaurant so people can also come there for meats and seafood as well. Anyhow, on the vegan side, which is of interest to me, they have a whole selection of side dishes ranging from vegan mac and cheese, spring rolls, potato wedges, etc. They also had a coconut curry dish, tofu and vegetables, salads, etc. My sister and I ended up ordering a bunch of sides and splitting them because there were a lot of things we wanted to try. I thought the mac and cheese was excellent. Their desserts range from gelato and sorbets to a variety of cupcakes. One thing I really was pleased with was they had a couple options for vegan cupcakes. i ordered a chocolate peanut butter one and it was fabulous. Most places do not offer vegan desserts so it was a real treat to be able to get one here. I like this place a lot and would go back for sure.

I am surprised at the poor ratings this restaurant has received. I came here with my sister, the vegan, for dinner one night. We met up with some of her childhood friends. We called ahead and made reservations to limit the wait time. My sister and I arrived to the restaurant first. We walked in to be seated and I wandered towards the display case of the amazing looking cupcakes available. Holy weakness of mine! While waiting for the rest of the party to arrive, we looked over the menu. The menu has a lot of really awesome options for vegetarians, vegans and gluten free diets. My sister and I decided to order a few side meals and share everything. We began with the vegetable summer rolls. This was an interesting appetizer. It was rice paper, lettuce, carrots and red peppers. It comes with a dipping sauce. It was good, but I am not a huge fan of the sticky rice paper. Don’t get me wrong, it was still a good choice. Next, we received the samosas. This is rice, corn, potato thing wrapped in philo-type dough. It comes with some dipping sauce as well. This had a little spice to it, but not too much. I really enjoyed this appetizer. After that, we received the potato wedges and the mac and cheese. The potato wedges were good. Nothing too fancy here. The mac and cheese came in a large bowl. This was a nice serving to share. Finally, the coolest part of the meal! I ordered the boston crème cupcake. It was very good. I eyed it when I walked in and I needed it in my tummy to continue surviving. I am a happy woman now. Overall, the service was quick and the food was good. I would definitely come back here again.

Wow, I don’t even know where to start. One word — BLAND! We bought the Groupon they offered a couple of months ago(coincidentally, they had another Groupon offer today too!), and were really, really wanting to love this place! Both my husband and I are vegetarians(though I admit that I’m eating shrimp these days), and love checking out new eateries in hopes of being able to tell everyone how fantastic veggie food can be. Not Sophie N Me. Bland, boring, and slow seemed to be the theme. The bread and herbed olive oil that we received before our meal was top-notch. I mean really YUMMY! After that, the experience went downhill. We received our appetizer of shrimp summer rolls and at first wondered what on earth our server delivered! There were 8 little nickel-sized(not kidding!) rolls with a little sliver of baby shrimp on each. I’m not exaggerating! They charged $ 8.50 for this! Um, what?! My meal was the Coconut Curry w/Shrimp and quinoa. The quinoa was obviously cooked in water — completely flavorless. The curry had flavor — YAY! — however, there were far too many potatoes in it. It was more like a curry potato soup. Hubby ordered the Phad Thai w/Shrimp. Bland. Boring. Flavorless. Wait, didn’t I already say that? It came with a side of peanut sauce, but the little cup only contained about 1 tablespoon of sauce. Not kidding. So, we figured it was probably an oversight. He asked our friendly server for another side of peanut sauce and he received another tablespoon of it! Um, what?! We also ordered a side of the vegan Mac & Cheese. They make their M&C with Daiya. I’m a regular consumer of Daiya and love it. I use it on homemade pizza, melted on gardenburgers, and sometimes just eaten as-is. However, this was the BLANDEST M&C I’ve yet to eat in my life! Vegan M&C doesn’t need to be bland! Here’s the kicker — We waited 40 minutes between our appetizer and our meal. The server did come over and acknowledge that our meal would be served soon, but we watched as the table adjacent to us were served within 15 – 20 minute of ordering. Obviously, something happened to our meal. Overall, while we had a very friendly waiter, the food was overpriced and… BLAND! We wanted to love this place and possibly buy the new Groupon that came out today. That’s not happening. Save your dough and go anywhere else, just not here. What a disappointment.

This past Saturday, I attended a luncheon that I had organized at Sophie n Me, a new Vegan/Vegetarian/Organic restaurant(that also offers non veg selections as well) in Boca Raton on Federal Highway, just north of Spanish River Blvd, in the plaza on the west side. I arranged a tasting menu which satisfied all in attendance. As the group arrived and we were waiting to begin eating, we were each brought a sample of their Matcha Green Tea Smoothie(Vegan). It was chock full of «green» and yet contained just the right amount of sweetness.(Full glass: $ 4) First item we sampled was the Coconut Curry Soup(Vegan) made with rice vermicelli & spinach and simmered in a coconut milk & curry broth.(Served with organic chicken for our non-vegan friends). This soup was perfectly balanced and had excellent flavors. It reminded me of my favorite Thai soup, Tom Ka Kai.($ 5.75 for a bowl; add $ 1 for chicken or $ 2 for shrimp). Our sampler plate arrived and on it was a beautiful arrangement of salads, a grilled veggie wrap and Macaroni & Cheese. The first salad I tried was the Corn Off The Cobb Salad.($ 9.75) I had the non-vegan version which consisted of a traditional Cobb Salad of Romaine & Boston Lettuces, avocado, tomato, nitrite-free bacon, chopped egg & roasted seasoned corn, cut off the cob. You can choose from a variety salad dressings; all are organic and the Lemon-Thyme Vinaigrette, which is homemade, is also vegan. I tried this one and also the Balsamic Vinaigrette and both were delish! The other salad we sampled was the Quinoa & Pesto Salad(Vegan).($ 9) OMG, was this amazing! I have had quinoa a few times before, but never have I had anything that tasted this good! The pesto sauce elevated this dish to a whole new level, creating such a unique taste; it was tossed with red peppers, onions and garbanzo beans. The grilled veggie wrap($ 6.75), was made with grilled sweet peppers, portabella mushroom, carmelized onions and eggplant inside a grilled whole wheat wrap and served with a creamy avocado dressing. Delish! The Macaroni & Cheese(Vegan) is made with whole grain macaroni and baked in a creamy vegan cheese sauce.($ 5.75). It was so creamy and cheesy, I didn’t feel I was missing out by not having the«real» dairy products at all. For dessert, we were delighted with mini Green Tea Cupcakes(Vegan). They were very good and not too sweet either.($ 1.50 ea) Everyone enjoyed the food and the staff handled our group very efficiently. Sophie n Me takes special care to ensure all menu items are made with all-natural, sustainable and/or organic ingredients that are free from preservatives, hormones, antibiotics, chemicals or GMO’s. All of their vegetables are 100% certified organic. They are committed to distinguishing themselves as a leader in fresh flavor that you can savor and are proud to provide a health-conscious and environmentally-supportive dining option for you and your family.

I am adding a star to my initial review. I have been here several times for lunch since I first reviewed it. It is close to my office and being a vegetarian who tries to stick to organic fare, there aren’t many places that offer organic. I am a huge fan of their vegetable soup. I have brought several friends with me who are not vegetarian. My companions have tried the burger and the mahi salad just to name a couple. All with happy results. I have also tried the mac and cheese, loving the fact that it is gluten free. I have to agree with other reviews that it could use a little more seasoning. The time from ordering to table is the main reason for 4 stars. Some days everything comes out quickly but I have been there and waited too long for our meals. I know that they prepare everything fresh, but I do think that they need to work on getting the meals out more quickly on a regular basis. I had lunch there today with my son. he is a vegan, I am a vegetarian. The Coconut Soup and the Vegetable Soup were both delicious and the serving was generous. The only complaint is that I wish that they would break up the vermicelli rice noodles before cooking them — it is hard to get the noodles onto the spoon and I ended up cutting them with my knife. I had the Vegetable Wrap and it was ok… it needed more of the Creamy Avocado Dressing, although it is more like a spread than a dressing. I think overall it needed a little more seasoning. The Cabbage Slaw that was served with it was really good. My son had the Sophie N Me Salad. The produce and fruit were really fresh, but it was mostly lettuce. He felt that it needed more of the avocado and other toppings to make it a satisfying meal. The homemade lemon vinagrette dressing was light and tasty though. We finished up with the Vegan Chocolate Cupcake… yummy! I will definitely go back. I think that they are on the right track but need to step up the lunch a little bit.

I had a WONDERFUL experience at SophienMe. After visiting my in-laws in Boca and discovering this hidden gem I am very excited to go back! Healthy and delicious!!! The service was great, they were very accommodating to our dietary restrictions and requests… and believe me there were many! I was a little disappointed that they were out of the samosas and cupcakes(apparently a large party before us ate them all) but this will definitely give me a reason to go back next time I am in Florida. I highly recommend the vegetable soup and the jerk chicken dish. I only had one bite of the shrimp and grits but wished I ordered them, very tasty! Five stars, even to NY standards. Well done!

I found this place a few weeks before a vacation to the area while searching for some vegan and healthy food options. The experience was unfortunately a disappointment. While the vegetable soup was well received, the remainder of the dishes were average to poor. The pad thai was somehow sour, and the noodles were very undercooked, to point of being really hard and chewy. The spring roll and shrimp roll appetizers were just raw vegetables in a rice wrapper, raw and with no flavor. The chicken dishes were OK. The tofu dishes were also OK, but were little more than chopped carrot and celery, small tofu cubes, a few pieces of brocolli, and a dash of soy sauce. It was the kind of meal you could easily make at home and in 10 minutes for $ 2, rather than spending $ 15 at a restaurant. On the plus side the servers were quite nice and attentive. The décor is simple but clean. The place has potential, so I hope they can make some improvements to the food and become a success story.

I really hate to be the bearer of bad news… The website and blog for this restaurant are really exciting,(thus prompting me to purchase the Groupon) and I wish they had put just as much time and effort into making their food delicious as they did on their virtual appearance. The bread and olive oil they served us was delicious, and unfortunately the highlight of the meal. We ordered the chicken satay appetizer, which was an unfortunate, cold, limp couple of flavorless pieces of chicken on a bed of chopped red cabbage. The chicken tasted like it was pre-cooked and then heated up, but not for long enough. Next I had the coconut curry soup, which had a little bit of heat to it, but not much flavor. For my dinner I had the Mahi Salad. I asked for the mahi on the side, because I don’t like the fish to heat up the greens below. When my food arrived, I learned that the fish was cold cut up little pieces, and when I tried one, I gagged. It was extremely fishy tasting, and definitely not fresh.(Experiences like these always make me understand why some people just don’t like fish. It’s because they’ve only tasted this stuff. Fish is NOT supposed to taste fishy!) My greens, which were thankfully fishy-free were fresh and yummy, minus a couple wilted leaves. The lemon-thyme vinaigrette was splendid. My boyfriend had the spaghetti and turkey meatballs. The meatballs were ok, the sauce was eh, but the spaghetti was UNDERCOOKED! Chewey, inedible, undercooked pasta. How does a restaurant do that?! I just don’t get it. They took away our meals half eaten, without a word. If they had thought to ask about my full plate of uneaten fish pieces, or my boyfriend’s rubbery spaghetti, we would have been upfront with them about it. But, nope, nothing. It was the end of the night and they wanted to get out of there. The service is friendly, if a bit slow. They are brand new and still figuring out things like timing, and remembering to bring my lemon wedges(which they didn’t.) I’m sorry if you’ve purchased a Groupon, and are reading this moments before you go here. Hopefully by then they will have read this review and changed their ways.
