Having eaten sushi for over 25 years including some of the best places in NYC I walked in with pretty high expectations given the recommendation I had received for this restaurant. The restaurant is pricey which is what I would expect for a high caliber sushi restaurant. What was unexpected was the rudeness of the staff and ultimately the owner. Buyer beware if you have any food sensitivities. I didn’t expect to have soy sauce poured over my hamachi sushi. Being gluten sensitive and having already asked for gluten-free soy sauce(which by the way is great that they have, not that I will ever return) I didn’t expect to see a brown sauce on my sushi. Without explaining every detail I was scolded for not having told them about my allergies. I guess asking for gluten free soy sauce for my sensitivity wasn’t enough. The owner behind the sushi bar made it clear that he in no way cared and they just told me to give it to my husband to eat. I lost it at this point as I was stunned to be treated that way. A normal restaurant would have just said«not a problem, I will replace the piece» not at Sushigo. They could give a … about their customers and that sense of entitlement will lead to the demise of this restaurant. What was short sighted was that we would have spent much more money there as we didn’t order much to begin with. He thinks he lost $ 6.00 when he actually lost $ 100 since we paid right away and left. Never again!

Not open after 2pm. Better check to see if they are open first. Small place.

Went there on June 10, 2016. Have been here many times without a reservation. Several open tables and we were directed a table next to the door. Arrived at 6:55 and left at 7:25. We received the worst service. We ordered salads and soup and 2 glasses of water. Sat waiting for a glass of water for 30 minutes. The soup and salad never arrived. Finally got up and left when after our 2nd attempt to get water failed. Absolutely have never been so insulted or treated so poorly by any wait staff. Will not return. Should be ZEROSTARS!

First time being here and like Arnold says«I’ll be back!» Excellent staff that makes you feel at home. Food is ridiculously fresh! From ocean, to plate, to your mouth! Awesome experience with them making the food right in front of you! They will definitely be seeing me again!

Our usual sushi place was closed and we found Sushigo on Unilocal. The food was ok but the service was spotty at best. It took asking three times for water refill to get any. We waited 40 minutes for edamame appetizer to come out. Waited another 15 minutes to get the check.

The worst service! No one knows what they’re doing –extremely overpriced for the small size rolls /quantity. They will be out of business quickly– too many quality sushi restaurants for these guys to survive. Wouldn’t recommend this place to someone I don’t like!

Gave it a try from a friend’s recommendation. Not again for me. We were the 3rd table to sit down yet took over an hour to get our first dish. This place is not $$ but should be $$$$. One piece sushi Amaebi is $ 18.99 and the shrimp head was was overcooked, the fryer had one simple job and couldn’t do that right. Prices of rolls from 19.99-$ 59.99, yes $ 59.99 for a roll. To end the night, I had a horrible stomach ache on the drive home and you can imagine what happen the minute I got home. Thanks, but no thanks for next time!

First of all the food is great. I would say that the $$ on the description is not very accurate. There’s plenty of other reviews that echo that sentiment. Don’t expect to get out of there unless you purposefully try to do it cheap… maybe with a lunch special and that’s it. Expect $$$ — $$$$. Stopped in for lunch during the week along with about a half dozen or so other people in the restaurant. Sat promptly and service was quick but a bit awkward with the server. We ordered two lunch specials and one appetizer. The one appetizer was off the daily specials menu, which has no prices. No problem… I’ve experienced that before at other places. Sushi Simon in Boynton Beach has that too. So we ordered the Hamachi Belly Jalapeño to start… and it was incredible! Six pieces of fish with jalapeño a ponzu sauce and garnished with cilantro. Delicious. The lunch specials we ordered came out shortly after we finished our appetizer, and were also delicious and well executed. We finished up and got the bill and when I looked at the price of the appetizer it was $ 43.98. I just had to laugh that’s how shocked I was. I’m glad they discounted the $ 0.02 or else it would just be way to expensive! Maybe they have to make up for the free Miso Soup you get with a check-in? Anyway… I assumed(and we know what that does) that like Sushi Simon it would be in the $ 20 — $ 26 dollar range. Well I guess not! So I would suggest asking for the prices if you really want to know what you’re going to be charged before hand. Either way it is delicious… I don’t think it was $ 44 appetizer delicious but to each their own. Enjoy!

Joe the owner is behind the sushi bar with his son making the dishes. Excellent quality of seafood, diverse and unique variety of rolls and a-la-carte sushi and sashimi items. You will notice that Sushigo is pricey but worth it! I ordered from the house rolls section which range from $ 6-$ 10. I also ordered one order of Scallop(Hokkaido) from the a-la-carte section(comes with gold flakes on top) for the market price of $ 19.99. I was shocked when I got the bill. As I said, it was worth it. The waitress brought us complimentary edamame and vanilla mochi ice cream. For Unilocalers, by checking in, you get either a small hot saki or edamane.

My husband is a professional chef. Sushigo is the best sushi place in Florida by far. The quality of the food is exceptional.

This place was fantastic! HOWEVER it’s not a(2)$$ it’s at least a(3) $$$. Worth it yes! But not a mid-level priced place, only a few things are in that price point. I took advantage of the unique and outstanding appetizers but paid around $ 25-$ 30 for 1. Example: «KC Roll Salmon, cream cheese, kani, avocado and scallion wrap with thin sliced cucumber with sweet rice vinegar = $ 23.99» So I HIGHLY recommend, if you are a foodie than go here and order the special items! But Unilocal should update their $$ to $$$ so people know what they will be spending here… was over $ 100 for 2 of us.

Amazing specialities flown in from Japan but $ 3.50 for a can of Great Value ginger ale spoiled the mood, especially when paying $ 25 for one piece of fish. As a rule I care about the quality of the food for the price more than atmosphere. But as much as I love the chef’s work, I want a pleasant dining experience to match the level of food. Waiting for 45 minutes for a love boat in a small, plainly lit and sparsely decorated room again kills the mood.

Interesting place. Last night, my wife and I were having a date night, dinner and a movie, and decided to try Sushigo. The food was excellent. The atmosphere, not so much. For me, it’s a bit of a disconnect. A Nobu trained sushi chef ending up at a nondescript, strip-mall, neighborhood sushi place. Chef Joe clearly knows quality sushi. His O-Toro(extra fatty tuna belly) was the best I’ve had in South Florida. At $ 19, it’s an expensive piece of sushi, but it’s all about the quality of the fish. I’m more than willing to pay for great food. The other sushi I ordered was equally excellent though Toro is a special treat. My wife had a similar selection as sashimi(starchy carbs are the enemy, right?). She also thought the food was outstanding. She gives 5 stars for the food. I give 4 ½. The slight markdown is for presentation which was OK, but more utilitarian than truly honoring the food. I had a very good conch salad and wahoo dynamite roll. Time constraints kept us from a more extensive voyage through Chef Joe’s food. The food was definitely worthy of considering the Omikase. But, and this is a big but, the Omikase is market price, usually over $ 200 per person. I’m just not going to spend $ 500 for two of us in that atmosphere. It is plain, unadorned and only marginally comfortable. It is not a place I would want to settle in and sit for 2 or 3 hours. The service, while well intentioned, was diner quality, not top restaurant quality. This, however, is not unusual in Florida. Other markets like NYC, San Fran, Chicago, and even L.A. have more of a pool of professional waitpeople. If Sushigo invested in upgrading the environment to create a more complete experience, it could be my favorite restaurant in Boca Raton. It’s a bit of a shame that with Nobu as a reference point, the owner chose to not bother creating an atmosphere that is as elevated as his food, or, at the very least, one that doesn’t detract.

I’m very surprised no one mentions the prices of the sushi here. I lived in New York for years, and have gone to all the best sushi places in the city(sushi of gari, sushi seki to name a few) and the prices here are just SO much higher.(And you know their went is not) Omakase starts at $ 200 per person. Basic rolls are over 10 $ and specialty over 20 $ Is the fish good? It’s good but it didn’t come close to other sushi I have had but the bill was double. We are in need of good sushi here, and they may have it, but why do you have to have such exorbitant prices? It’s not right.

I wanted sushi for lunch, but nothing crazy. This place was nearby. Called in my lunch special order, #7 — Wahoo Fish Dynamite Roll and California Roll and was told it would take 30 mins. Pulled up to a small strip plaza. There were spots, but they are tight! The restaurant only had one guest at lunch time. It was pretty empty so I was a little worried about the food. The food turned out to be very decent. For $ 10, I got two full rolls and a choice of soup or salad. I chose the salad which came with ginger dressing. Not bad at all. The rolls surprised me. I didn’t order anything extravagant, so for these simple rolls to surprise me like that. they were very good. I’ve been eating sushi for years and have never ordered a California roll unless I’m getting a bento box and it comes with a few pieces. The rice had this amazing sweetness to it. It was wrapped nicely and I tasted the freshness of the avocado. The same thing with the rice of the Wahoo Fish Dynamite Roll. The rice was so good. No sauces required for their rolls. However, the prices outside of the lunch specials look pretty outrageous.

The food is absolutely as delicious as can be. Of course, the chef worked as head sushi chef in NOBU in Miami, so I’m not surprised. In Boca, looking at prices that rival the best in NYC. I am so not surprised that it’s my stepdaughter’s fave. That said, the fish was so fresh it was practically still wriggling. Maybe some of it was. Florida blows my mind. Five star restaurants in strip malls. Load the car with $$$$ and go to this restaurant.

I needed to get out of the office, so I drove down the street until I saw the sign for a sushi place. I decided to stop in and check it out. For lunch time in boca, I expect many places to be packed. However, this place only had one table full and another guy at the sushi bar eating. Granted, there are a lot of places to eat out here so the competition for patrons is thick. Regardless, I decided to sit down and have lunch. As I looked over the menu, I noticed they don’t have much for vegetarians. Typically, I find that Japanese restaurants are VERY veggie-friendly. There were a couple of options: –I ordered the inari but they were out. Bummer. –The vegetable roll was good and the presentation was nice. –The edamame came out a few minutes after the veggie roll. It was cooked perfectly. Besides salad, that was the only vegetarian options available. The place also smelled fishy, like really fishy. the staff was incredibly nice and the food was good. However, I don’t think I’ll be back here — it wasn’t for me.

Favorite sushi in Boca! Always start with the shishito peppers, full of flavor and sometimes a little spicy. Their special sushi rolls can be a little pricey but their simple rolls are SO good and always fresh — so you can mix it up! I’ve always had a good experience and SushiGo is always my go-to sushi spot.
