Okay, okay. I don’t know where to start about this place. This place was so amazing in my opinion, that I am left speechless. I’ll start with saying that I loved, literally, EVERYTHING about this place. Maybe there are some of you who cringe at the use of the word«literally» is thrown around improperly and liberally but seriously, I literally loved everything about this place. From the décor, to the service, to the food, to the iPad I paid with… I loved it all. I’ll start with the most important thing, the food. The food was SO divine. It’s like an angel came from heaven and whispered the secrets of divine deliciousness to the geniuses at Wicked Awesome Snacks. Their menu is rather extensive in my opinion, so it took me a while to take in everything. I ended up settling on the«This Little Piggy» sandwich and their seasonal«Tomacho». The«This Little Piggy» sandwich was fantastic. It was fresh, savory, tender and not greasy at all. The pork tenderloin used was cooked to perfection and I loved how none of the ingredients used overpowered the flavors of anything, rather they all married together and enhanced each other. The brioche bun they used was freshly baked and AMAZING. I need to say, I’m not the biggest fan of too much bread but I would gladly live off daily, all-day servings of their brioche. The«Tomacho» is delicious, fresh, cherry tomatoes put together with FRESH and I mean FRESH pappardelle pasta and parmesan cheese. I could not get over how fresh and delicious the pasta was that I kept talking about it for days to anyone who would listen. I kept dreaming of this dish and its sweet, awesome tastiness for days, actually, even to this day. After I was filled with all that yum, I was stuffed but still wanted to try their food! I was convinced to try their bacon maple whoopie pie. It was a very delicious whoopie pie served w/a bacon maple cream and a stick of bacon. The cream inside the whoopie pie had bacon bits in it with the cream. It was delicious but I think a bit too rich for me as I’m not so into sweets. Plus I think my extreme fullness made it hard to take in something so rich. All-in-all, I really loved everything! Seriously! Décor was down-to-earth but trendy and not cheap. The service was EXCELLENT and friendly. The owner? even gave me a free cookie saying, «You have to try these…»(they were fresh and delicious btw.) The beer selection is extensive, diverse and well priced. It’s in a great location with ample parking. It’s everything I could dream and more… I wish they had more locations. I wish when I go up north to NYC that they had a location there that I could go to… I definitely think it would fit in perfect there and be successful. All of their food is freshly made and the ingredients are fresh and organic. It is seriously so awesome. I’m gushing and rambling… that’s what I do when I tend to love a place. Everyone get in their car, put on their walking shoes, hop on your bike, do whatever you do for travel and make your way to Wicked Awesome Snacks!

Calling all Foodies… So I’ve had this on my list to try for a while, it can be a little tricky to actually find but boy was it worth it. I have to say that this was hands down, no comparison the BEST sandwich I’ve ever had in the state of Florida. I had the Little piggy which is roasted pork with cranberries and a slaw — simply out of this world. The bread was fresh, pork was tender and succulent, it was sweet from the cranberries but had acidity from the slaw — simply HEAVENLY. I am still seriously thinking about that sandwich. This is a sandwich I’d expect from Chicago, NYC or Boston not Boca for sure. Chris the bartender was so helpful in suggestions with the menu as well as helping me choose some great beers to try as well as delicious dessert. I don’t know why prior posters would wonder why this place doesn’t have fresh orange juice or lemonade — REALLY or complain about having to sign on an ipad because it’s germy — SERIOUSLY? I don’t know many places in Florida that have fresh orange juice or lemonade and when you walk in this little place I can’t imagine why anyone would even say that. If you are such a germophobe about touching an ipad then perhaps dining out isn’t for you. I seriously question the validity of some these Unilocal reviews lately that have led us to some awful places with 5 star reviews — this is a GREAT find and I can’t believe it doesn’t have more reviews. I also don’t really see this as a family place for children. The menu is very ecclectic, ever changing, you won’t find chicken fingers here — it is a nice retreat for adult foodies who enjoy real fresh homemade food. In fact, I wouldn’t probably go here if there were a bunch of kids in the place, it would totally ruin the casual laid back adultness of it all. If you enjoy strapping on a foodbag at Chili’s or Fridays for lunch then this probably isn’t the place for you but if you enjoy a chill laid back place, friendly staff and some kick ass made fresh food, great selection of beers and you don’t mind waiting a few minutes to get your FRESHLY made selections — then give this place a try. You will not be disappointed.

Different and delicious! Small menu but all light, healthy fare. I thought the bread was yummy(but there was a bit too much bread for the sandwich fillings). Love the atmosphere and the beer selection. Super friendly staff. Would definitely go again.

This place looked pretty cool, between their giant chalkboard with their menu written out and the large photographic posters of New York(having lived in Mass, I wondered why no Beantown representation given the name«wicked awesome» and the names of some of their menu items, but no biggie, just an observation). Our server asked if we needed an actual menu to look at(vs. the chalkboard menu) but realized they did not have any to give out at that moment, so another customer was nice enough to get up and pass on her menus to us(easy fix; they just need to print more menus and have them readily available). Immediately noticed on the menu that their bread is baked fresh daily. Loved seeing this, as bread can make or break a sandwich. Ordered one of their sandwiches with mozzarella, tomato, red peppers and pesto on ciabatta bread(normally comes with eggplant but I left that off). The taste was great– however; the bread did not taste like it was baked fresh that day. It was pretty hard and I understand ciabatta isn’t the softest bread, but this was borderline stale. The ingredients inside the sandwich worked well together, though. It came with a side of field greens drizzled with balsamic vinaigrette which I could’ve done without(though I do like salads with my sandwiches). The greens were dry and tasteless with the exception of those that were actually hit with a bit of vinaigrette, however; it tasted like balsamic straight out the bottle. Would’ve been better/tastier if the greens were actually tossed in a balsamic/EVOO mixture. Had a pizzette along with the meal(mozzarella and tomato) which was good, but quite salty. Believe there was kosher salt sprinkled on the dough which was unnecessary and may have been the reason it was a bit too salty. While waiting for my food, I noticed a plate of cookies sitting on the counter(in the corner) uncovered. This was pretty unappetizing and I made a mental note to stay away from the cookies/brownies on the menu. There was a fly I spent a good amount of time shooing away from my food and drink which is also quite unappetizing, but it’s summertime in Florida so you can’t totally blame ‘em. But it doesn’t help the open cookie situation. Some kind of insect deterrent on the outside may be helpful. Staff was helpful/friendly; staff kept checking up on the table/food/service. Did not like the check-out process; they use an iPad to present the bill and the server stands there as you enter your credit card number, tip amount & sig to close out the bill. A) I don’t want to touch a screen that multiple people have touched throughout the day and B) I don’t want to do the work of checking myself out. Just want to eat, drink, relax and be gone :-) All in all, I found it to be a cute place, brand new so some improvements are needed but it has potential.

After weeks of driving by this place and seeing tons of reviews(most filtered), I had to find out for myself what this place was all about. Based on the name and menu I could tell it was homage to the great city of Boston. The menu is very short, simple, yet effective. Everything is made to order. It’s a snack bar so don’t make the mistake of going here when you’re in need of a hearty meal. Sandwiches, salads and tapas is the extent of it. Their craft beer list outstanding and features some greats like Rogue Hazelnut Nectar, Samuel Smith Nut Brown Ale or Wells Banana Bread. The prices are equally outstanding at just $ 4.50 for domestic crafts and $ 5.50 for imports. I have to say, it’s a very relaxing place to eat or drink. Music is played at a reasonable volume so it still allows for conversation. The music ranges from your average downtempo, indie rock or just U2 or Coldplay. The staff go above and beyond and the owner seem very accommodating when preparing your meal. A new place like this thrives off word of mouth, so to have a high likability factor is extremely important. They have it. We started with the North End pizzette, which was good but could use a little less salt on the dough. They offer up a few different types of pizzettes, which are basically flat bread pizzas. Both my wife and I ordered sandwiches. I had the Heavenly Witch, which is sliced pork tenderloin, bacon and topped with apple slices. It’s not very big, but it was indeed very good. All sandwiches come with a a little salad too. My wife had the Farmer and she liked it, though she said her ciabatta bread was a little tough. I could tell my brioche was also a little tough, so I’ll just chalk it up as being Sunday evening. She liked her sandwich as well. Their desserts looked good and we were going to order the bread pudding until we found out it takes about 20 minutes to make. You need a lot of time and patience to enjoy this place, but that isn’t necessarily a bad thing. It’s just not ideal when you’re pressed for time, especially a movie to make. My only minor gripes would be that the brownies and cookies are left out in the open on a dish and considering we had a few flies swarming around our table most of the night, there is a good chance those snacks could become vulnerable. The other gripe is that they use an iPad when you want to pay for your meal. While I have no problem with advantage technology, I wasn’t exactly thrilled that I had to actually use this iPad that god knows how many hands were on it before me to swipe my card and sign my name. Any Howie Mandel-like germ freaks won’t be pleased by this. They need another method so your not involuntary being exposed to millions of germs with this community iPad. It’s just not sanitary. These small things that could easily be fixed. I enjoyed this place and believe in time, it’ll find its groove. It just needs a little tweaking. Wicked Awesome Snacks has the potential to be Wade Boggs, but right now it’s just Kevin Youkilis.

Delicious sandwiches, small plates, salads, and desserts combined with an impressive beer selection and this place earns a spot on my list of local«go to» restaurants. The menu is selective with maybe a total of about fifteen items, but most everything on the menu; such as the bread for sandwiches, desserts, dressings, etc. are made in house and, when available, contains local ingredients. If you are lucky to have a fresh pasta dish on the menu, give it a shot. I tasted their Pesto with tagliatelle and it was awesome. Their Pizzette’s were a big hit my little one and my wife, however I was much more partial to the turkey sandwich. Very tasty and huge, it is a meal on to itself. Salads are also sizeable and very fresh tasting, and their homemade dressings are very tasty. If you are looking for a good brew, than you will have more than enough choices from their extensive craft beer list. Do yourself a favor and try one of their daily bread puddings for dessert. I had one made with a milk stout that was sooooo delicious, I swear I could have eaten a second one. Now, this place just opened, so sure it is going to have its kinks that it needs to work on, such as timing of bringing stuff out. However, they make up for it with the food and just really being nice folks. Honestly, I am just glad that we have a local restaurant which appears to be committed to bringing local and fresh food to the table. I say give ‘em a try. As long you go in here with a bit of patience(it will give you chance to try another great beer :), you will not be disappointed.

So I want to start this review by saying that we visited this restaurant during the second week it was open and that perhaps when the kinks are worked out it will be much better. I was first intrigued by this restaurant by the cute signs outside and I thought«I have to give this place a try and it looks like a good place for kids.» Then when I went to the website, I was so happy to see that they try to serve organic, locally grown, seasonal ingredients. Coming from the San Francisco Bay Area that really sings to my homesick heart! So off we went for some lunch right when the restaurant opened for the day on a weekend. First, I want to say there are lots of positives: a) yummy, yummy cookies the owner gave us as samples while our food was being made b) the fresh baked bread was so good! I could have eaten loaves and loaves of it. c) very friendly, family environment — the owner was up at the front with his young daughter helping. d) again, I really appreciated the nod at organic, local, seasonal e) phenomenal beer selection Next the things I wish were different, better or left me wanting more: a) the food was a little… dry. I ordered a salad that I felt was under dressed leaving me with mouthfuls full of undressed lettuce and tomatoes(by the way, I wish they had chopped the tomatoes instead of leaving grape tomatoes whole as this would probably allow the dressing to saturate more). My husband ordered the pulled pork sandwich with Asian slaw. I had such hopes for this sandwich. It looked yummy coming out, but it left me wanting more. More flavor(perhaps more soy?), more crunch, and the bread although fresh tasted dry to both of us(almost like a scone). b) I was surprised a place like this doesn’t offer fresh squeezed juice(lemonade, orange, etc.). c) the owner mentioned to me that he had considered offering a milk bar for kids to go along with their cookies, but earlier in the week a large group of kids came in and kind of trashed the place so now he is rethinking whether he wants to target kids that much. I think that the owner is sending mixed messages. First of all, your restaurant is called Wicked Awesome Snacks. Um, with a name like that you are asking for families with kids. Also, your restaurant is in The Hub of West Boca which is filled with young families. They should be your target population or you are in the wrong location(and have the wrong name!). d) The ordering process is a little confusing… I had a feeling the owner hadn’t decided yet how he wants to do it. There is a big chalkboard menu on the wall and no sit down menus. I guess you order at the bar, but there doesn’t seem to be a central place to order. I didn’t see a cash register at the bar(they use an iPad) or an «order here» type of sign. e) I love kids. I have two of them and love spending as much time with them as possible. I would bring them everywhere I could. With that said, I think that the owner’s daughter was super sweet but she looked like she was 10 or 11 years old. And to have her as the only waitress other than the owner looks a little… unprofessional. This isn’t a soft opening for the restaurant. You are leaving a lot of first impressions and I’m not sure that having such a young girl up front is the best idea. I do think that the owners have a really good vision for this restaurant and so I hope they work the kinks out! Boca needs more places like this!
