I was at the State St Baskin & Robbins today(Dec. 14) and asked if I could get a warm beverage. Margo did not hesitate. She warmed, what usually would have been an iced drink; coffee latte. It was wonderful! I think Baskin & Robbins could become the new cold weather«fire and ice» beverage and goodies location. I know I would be a regular customer. I want to thank both Margo and Krystal for their welcoming and helpful service. You ladies are super! Sincerely, Linda Ohlsson

I’ve often said that there are certain places in Boise(and beyond) where I think the great ratings are more due to nostalgia than anything remarkable the business is doing. It’s totally true. And, though, I do try to resist writing such reviews – I fear this may be one. I have no nostalgia for this particular location of Baskin-Robbins. More for Baskin-Robbins in general. So, full disclosure, growing up in California, every summer for two weeks I’d head to Mendocino County where I’d visit my grandmother. The night of my arrival, she would always take my brothers and I to Baskin-Robbins for a cone. And, given that I was a child and ice cream was, in my view, pretty much the best, most spectacular dessert ever created – plenty of feel-good nostalgia for B-R! And, this particular location of Baskin-Robbins is as good as any other. The service is always friendly and prompt. And, no matter how big a group of indecisive children I bring in – they’re always completely patient(this last time it was 6 preteen boys who were VERY excited, having just attended their first school dance). Are they the most charming ice cream place in the valley? No. But, they meet one vital criteria: + They have chocolate peanut butter ice cream. And, theirs is this rich, fudgy, dark chocolate ice cream with ribbons of actual peanut butter stirred in. Perfect! Plus: +Ice cream cakes – it’s cake! it’s ice cream! it’s crazy! Crazy delicious, that is. +Chocolate Mousse Royale(don’t question it, just do it) Overall, delicious reasonably priced scoops served with a smile. Get to it!

Ice cream is my favorite food and they nailed it! Staff is always very friendly and upbeat. Ironically, it feels like you’ve walked into a freezer when you go in, but they have outside seating to enjoy on a warm day.

I’m the suggestible type when it comes to food. So although I haven’t been inside a B-R in maybe 20 years, my friend Wendy B’s review of B-R that mentioned Jamoca Almond Fudge, my ultimate fav of all 31 plus flavors in the days I was a regular consumer of this ice cream, has had it on my mind for several weeks now. Imagine my delight when my car as if on auto pilot made the turn into the lot for this B-R store on my hubby’s and my way back from happy hour as dinner to the townhouse we’d been renting in Boise for a week. The adorable and helpful college age guy behind the counter in this sparking clean store offered us samples of any ice cream we’d like to try. But my tastebuds were set for JAF even before this guy said hello. A hand packed pint later, I left the store a happier woman. Now if my husband decides he really doesn’t want any after all, I’ll be still happier. THIS N THAT: HOURS: Looks like they’re open 11a to 10 p seven days a week. ACCESSIBILITY: Level in from parking lot and in store.

Generic ice cream at a reasonable price. Every few years I go to a Baskin Robbins, then I remember why its been a few years. I would much rather pay a couple $ more for coldstone or something similar. For that matter I could go to the grocery store and get some haagen-daz dulce de leche and get a better value. Quite a few flavors and toppings. Worst pistachio ice cream I’ve had in years.

Finally i can write a review of a quality comestible vendor in my neighborhood. Collister needs more places like this — convenient, consistent quality, good service, fun, loved by many, … etc. We were thre on the coldest August 7th in history and the place was packed. That’s how good it is. I’m a fan of the chocolate and peanut butter. This is a little chocolatier than the Reese’s flavor. I also enjoy the irony of eating ice cream here because the almost-heir to the Baskin Robbins empire is a vocal vegan. They do have sorbet now for you vegans or avoiders of dairy. And the owners of this location have given away free ice cream to children who attended the opening of the Collister library — encouraging them to read. They might not have the conspicuous reputation that Ben and Jerry’s has for do-goodery, but they do it anyway.
