Big Jud’s

Good burger, quick service, and popular. A bit tricky to find if you are not from the area but worth the stop.

Checked this place out and was really excited. I got the hot buff burger and was disappointed. The burger and toppings were fresh as were the fries, but it wasn’t anything special. The burger lacked flavor, and the «large fries» we’re anything but large and probably cooked in old/​used oil. Definitely way better than fast food, but as a sit down burger joint it was ok and the price wasn’t better than other places, and thus only 3-​stars. I will be going to other places for a burger. If only Coke back if I wanted to do their food challenge, but I’m not a teenager anymore and don’t have the stomach to do that anymore lol on the bright side the service was good even on a seemingly busy night.

I had heard about this place for a while, and I finally made it in here for lunch while working in Boise. I LOVE burgers — seriously one of my favorite foods.
I went during lunchtime, and even though it was crowded I was seated at a table right away. My waitress was great — really friendly and I didn’t have to wait long for any kind of service.
I like a basic cheeseburger, so that’s what I went with. I also ordered onion rings, and while those were good, they weren’t great. But the cheeseburger was really good. Fresh ingredients and perfectly cooked patty.
A great place and I can’t wait to go back on my work trip to Boise!

I’ve heard a lot of great things about this place, and while I don’t think it quite lives up to the hype, it was still a relatively enjoyable evening out for dinner.
Atmosphere:
Lots of families, parties of 4+, etc. It is definitely a loud and boisterous environment. My husband and I went on a Friday night and it was packed! I’m not sure how much that affected the overall wait time, but it definitely was a few minutes to get our order placed and probably 20 – 25 minutes before we ate.
Food:
We shared a regular Big Jud and a basket of fries. They suggest that a Big Jud can serve 2−4… I would say more like 4 – 6! We had more than half a burger and a good handful of fries to take home. I’d love to give rave reviews about the food, but honestly? It wasn’t my favorite. The fries could have used salt and a little longer in the fryer, and the burger itself was just less than spectacular. The bun was somewhat bland and borderline dry, and the meat was substantially sized but not overly flavorful either. I don’t think quantity (in terms of the serving portion) should trump quality. It’s certainly possible that would not be the case with a smaller sized burger. I’m not convinced that the Big Jud burger is the way to go for a date night, but it is an unarguable value for the dollar.
Service:
Friendly and satisfactory. Nothing above and beyond the norm, but nothing to complain about either.
Overall:
With a loud room and huge portions, Big Jud’s is a great place for families. For a couple looking for a good burger joint on a night out, you may want to look elsewhere. I can’t say I wouldn’t go back, but it won’t be the first (or third) place that comes to mind when looking for a great burger in this area.

Love, love, love this place! This is our favorite burger joint. The service is always awesome, the food is amazing, the burgers literally melt in your mouth, but the best part is the French fries. Big thick cut french fries. They’re perfectly golden and just taste so good! I also love their onion rings — some of the best in the valley. They also serve the soda classic, scotch and soda.

Big Jud’s has stepped it up during my last visit, so I have no problem stepping up the rating. I guess the 3^rd time is a charm, previously my last two visits were plagued by long wait times, low quality food. This time I went Friday night right before the BSU game! Yes I knew it would be busy and being in the restaurant biz I know it’s the perfect time to see them under pressure. I’m happy to report they scored more points with me then the Broncos against Airforce that night lol
We entered in and all we could see was the place was packed and filled with blue and orange, yeah this was the spot to eat before the game. We were seated quickly, our orders arrived in 11 mins 54 sec (oh yeah I timed them). I still find the tater tots lacking flavor but hey they are part of my chicken strip basket so I live with it. Best part is EVERYTHING is HOTT, the chicken was juicy and my friend loved his juicy burger. Our waitress kept our drinks filled and made sure we were not lost in the crowd, she had great vision unlike a certain bronco defense lol (can’t ya see I’m taking the loss hard?)
Way to go Jud’s you scored some touch downs with me for this visit but will you repeat next time? We shall see.

We haven’t been to Big Jud’s since they got the new building, but love the improved parking and accessibility. My husband and I ordered chicken sandwiches and they were delish. They were cooked perfectly and the onion rings were a great addition to our meal.
The server was also great. I wish I would have gotten her name so I could call her out specifically. She was really friendly and checked on us often to be sure we had everything we needed.

I have been wanting to go to Big Jud’s for a long time, ever since I saw them highlighted on Man vs. Food several years ago. Unfortunately, Boise is a long way from our home in Utah but we finally got a chance to try Big Jud’s I am glad we did.
My Double Super Bacon Burger was huge, juicy, and tasty, check out the photo it is an impressive sight. The Super not only has bacon but ham as well, I love ham on a burger. We ordered up a mixed basket of Fries and tots (some times you just can’t decide which) and they complimented the burgers well.
I look forward to the next time I am in the Boise area, I know where I am eating when I get there.

Had a good Bacon Che

I always find myself expecting great service since I used to be a server. Big Jud’s did not disappoint in that arena. We got the Ortega’s burger and cheeseburger with a large side of fries and tater tots. All the food was amazing, the only thing I was a little disappointed on the fries. Ice cream was delicious too!
Other than that Riann our server did an awesome job! We will be back.
Rating 4.5!!!
