We are always searching for a great Chinese restaurant. This place was alright. Guess we’ve just never found one that hits us as fantastic. Does that exist? My husband and I both had one of the specials with spicey green beans, fried rice and mandarin chicken. My daughter had one of the combinations off the menu. Like I said, it was just alright… not great, not horrible.

I have a sensitive system to fried foods and as such I judge a restaurant by taste and feel. I’m happy to report their chicken dishes never upset anything and are tasty fresh. The restaurant has very nice themed décor and the service is consistently great. They are our first choice in sit down Chinese food. Oh and it’s über clean which is the first obstacle to my eating at a restaurant.

Hadn’t intended on going here today but restaurants and shopping in and on the perimeter of The Village at Meridian were overflowing– as congested as I’ve ever seen it. We bailed on our original lunch destination after seeing a line backing up to the door and maybe one available table, same thing with surrounding restaurants. Since we were planning on going to a couple stores on Fairview, as we were approaching Confucius I said to my mom, «Oh hey, let’s try this place that I’ve been curious about.» Glad we did! There were only a few other patrons there, and we were seated promptly. The service throughout was great, our water glasses refilled even when half full, and the food was excellent and priced very well. We did take advantage of the lunch menu served from 11 – 3. I ordered from the«combo» menu and got the broccoli chicken, egg roll, and pork fried rice. Mom had the pork chow mein & Mandarin chicken, and took half of it home for dinner. Everything was tasty, not oily, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Wine is priced insanely low, and is rather typical of what we find in Asian and Mexican restaurants here, plus an option to get a half or whole carafe which in some high-end restaurants would be the cost of ONE glass! The only thing we found a little odd was the music. I think I recognized a couple of R&B songs, but they really should play traditional music that suits the venue, in our opinion. No complaints from us!

Good food I had Hunan Beef and Hot and sour soup… perfect for when feeling under the weather… service could be slightly more attentive…

I felt compelled to review this establishment for two reasons: poor service and really bad food. Although it was late(9:30 pm) when we arrived, I should have known it was a bad sign that we were the only ones in the restaurant. The«greeter» seemed annoyed and disinterested. Our server was only slightly better. The food was poorly presented, completely flavorless and tremendously underwhelming. The only highlight of this experience was that the overpriced portions were small and thus, I felt okay wasting the leftovers. «Doggie bag? No thanks, my dog has higher standards than this.»

I’ve always had good food and service here. It’s been a favorite for ten or so years.

Someone should teach these people what Chinese food should taste like. Absolutely no flavor. My moo shoo pork was a combination of dried out and tough meat to which someone added week old bean sprouts. Gross. However, nobody cared that I did not like the food. You would think that the big fellow who works there(or owns the place?) would want to keep his customers. Apparently not.

I had a hankering for Kung Pao while on business in Boise and happened across Confucius. I read a few of the bad reviews so wasn’t sure what to suspect — lots of «one» and lots of «Five»… so what Unilocaler wouldn’t just stop in to find his own truth — is it really a place of extremes? Or somewhere in between… I was promptly seated, and having asked for a table near power to run my near-dead laptop, the host happily accommodated me right near the entrance, unplugging some lights so that I could do some work while eating. Nice touch! The interior is the very typical«Hey look! You’re in a Chinese Restaurant» but that’s OK — it was neat and tidy and seems very clean. Service was swift and the waitress was very sweet. Since it’s what I had in mind, I in fact ordered the Kung Pao Chicken with Pork Fried Rice lunch special for $ 6.95. It was at the table hot and fast — just a few minutes — 3 maybe?. Very good service. And it was quite yummy! Very nice blend of veggies — carrots, water chestnuts, celery, mushrooms, and green onions, and of course peanuts — all in just the right proportions. Not too much or too little of anything. As with most Chinese food, the sauce makes or breaks the dish. Well, they have it nailed I gotta say! Very smooth and delicate blending of flavors in a very light-oil sauce, wit just enough heat to satisfy most folks without blowing off your head. This was one of the best Kung Pao dishes I’ve had in some time. Certainly the best I’ve found in my many trips to Boise. Lastly, the portion size was perfect! Most American-style Chinese places bring out a giant plate with a huge mound of food and 2 or 3 scoops of rice, even with the lunch special. My lunch today came on a 6″ x 9″ side plate — nice portion of the dish, and one scoop of rice. Since I travel for business I most often have to leave food behind — I appreciate not having to waste food, and the $ 6.95 price seems totally reasonable to me. So here we are — another polarizing review I suppose, but a well-earned 5 stars from me. Dave

This has always been my favorite place for Chinese food. Lately it has gotten better. I’m not sure what has changed but I like even more. The mandarin chicken is awesome.

Terrible food and service. We ordered delivery and wanted to branch out from Joy Garden(which is delicious) and their reviews on Google said they were good, so we went ahead with ordering from there and what we got was disastrous. Our chow mein(lomein) was served in two separate boxes, one full of veggies and water, and the other, a smaller box, with thin, burnt crispy noodles. The other box that was supposed to be broccoli chicken smelled horrible and the chicken looked so slimy and processed. The late order of hot and sour soup literally tastes like a bad case of vomit… Nothing here is ok except for the fried rice… I will stick with my Joy Garden. And when I complained, instead of wanting to make up for their shorty food, they just gave me a refund for one item.

We ordered orange chicken that was tough to chew, too salty, and drowning in sauce. The chicken fried rice and lo mein were bland and unappetizing. The portions are tiny for family plates, and the prices are much too high. Add to that unfriendly service. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

We were happy to find a restaurant open past 6 on a Sunday evening. We just moved a couple months ago and haven’t been here before. The food was excellent! We were very pleasantly surprised considering we were the only ones in the restaurant at 8pm. We both had the Fung Wong Gai and Pork Fried Rice and it’s the best I’ve had in a long time.

Decided to get Chinese instead of cooking for Christmas. Would have been better off with panda, very disappointed. Over priced, wayyyy over sauced and over oily. Cashew chicken had no chicken and was swimming in a brown«sauce» that was more like a soup. Wonton soup was pure oil and smelled old and unappealing. Everything was extremely bland and almost inedible. No flavor at all. Save your money and go somewhere else. We will not be returning.

This was a weird experience. With nasty looking Chinese food, I always assume the meat will be good. I didn’t get anything deep fried(like sweet n’ sour pork or general tsao’s chicken), which probably would have been better. I got Happy Family(beef, pork, chicken, shrimp, veggies) and the veggies were probably the highlight. There were three shrimp, three strips of beef and slightly more pork and/or chicken. The veggies were more thoughtful, as there was bok choi(usually don’t see this at random Chinese places, especially in a meat dish). I also had pork n’ seeds. The pork was seriously ham. The mustard was from a packet and had literally no kick, mostly just salt. My wife had vegetable mu shu, which was easily the best thing we tried(thanks to some legit hoisin suace). She also had vegetble fried rice, which she liked, but I thought was bland and salty. Overall, the experience left me thirsty, due to all the salt. Would never go back here ever again, but the locals seem to eat the hell out of it. The place was what I would call packed for Monday at 6 p.m. and the takeout orders kept rolling in. I don’t get it.

Open tell 12 on weekends and 11 during week. Amazing pork fried rice. Always friendly. Even deliver if order is over $ 20 I believe. Good combo specials as we’ll.

am never disappointed when I dine in or take out, it’s always been fast and friendly. The food is always satisfying and if your in a hurry, you only need to give them about a 10 minute advance

Went today for lunch with my daughter. The Mongolian beef was very good, but the curry chicken was delicious! The restaurant was very clean and the service was friendly. Will go back!

I should have checked before going but we were in the area and in a time crunch. Really bad Americanized Chinese food. Hamburgers being on the menu was not a good sign. The veggies in my vegetarian delight dish were nicely cooked(not mushy and still slightly crisp), bit a bit overly sauced. The restaurant was dead though, and the dishes were way overpriced for what we ordered.
