It was too pricy for the quality of the food. The food was ok, I probably wouldn’t go back at those prices

Had the Won Ton Soup with Noodles and Cha Gio. The soup was good. It reminded me of a bowl of street noodles you’d have for breakfast. Nothing spectacular, but it has a nice, mellow broth and a fair variety of ingredients. The Cha Gio, however, was not good. It had almost no meat in it whatsoever, was flavorless, and contained mostly noodles. It looked great when it hit the table, but failed when it hit our palates.

There are a bunch of different menu items called«Spicy Chicken» so the first couple times I went, I never got the same thing. The good news is, all the spicy chickens are delicious. My very favorite is the House Spicy Chicken. It’s true that the Phở isn’t great, but everything else is. Try the Bun Spicy Chicken! Even when Dong Khanh is very busy, there is usually just one waitress. She’s absolutely wonderful, but sometimes service can be slow. We love this place!

Man did I want to like this place. Unfortunately the waitress was overwhelmed with 3 tables and 3 people behind the counter helping(which indicates to me this place is rarely busy enough to have capable staffers). After 15 minutes and 2 visits from her telling us ‘She’s gonna need some time’ — which was the time we needed to inspect the dirty place — we left. I know I’m a jerk for rating the situation and not food, but I sure would’ve loved a chance to try to the food. Service does play a role.

The food isn’t that great, the place is pretty dirty, but the servers are kind and generous. I’d eat here for a quick meal again in the future if it was cleaned up.

Absolutely the worst Phở I’ve ever had! They even regulate your level of spiciness by not keeping any Sriracha off the tables!

This place is great. Fresh cilantro, jalapeños, basil are used. Awesome, flavorful soups. Service can be slow.

First time here. I had the Kung pow shrimp, they didn’t deep fry it and it had a bunch of vegetables and peanuts in it, pretty tasty. The sauce had some kick, I appreciated that. I will go back to try some other menu items.

i have lived here in Boise for about 2 years, now. my husband and i finally went in to dong khanh the other day to see if there were any vegetarian options, and we were delighted to find that there are! the veggie fried rice is delish, but what really delighted me was the spicy tofu. it is only a little spicy, but that is fine with me. i love the way its cooked; the outside is a little crispy but the inside is soft, and it’s sweet, flavorful, and awesome. we will be going back again tonight!

I came here for the phở and was not impressed. The flavor was way off and so many onions. The broth was just not good. Service was ok. Didn’t feel warm and welcoming. I won’t be back.

I love this place! The food is great… especially the Vietnamese egg rolls. And I can’t give enough kudos to the wait staff… the are fun, welcoming, and efficient. Great place to be!

This place rocks plain and simple. I’ve eaten Vietnamese food in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Honolulu and New York for years. Everytime I came back to visit I would always come back to DK. I just found out they had a new location after they closed the Broadway spot. Now I am back for spicy chicken, cha gio and fried rice. This is right up there with the best Vietnamese I have in all parts of the US. If you’re giving this place low stars for not having a huge selection of the Viet sandwiches and phở then you need to go to a couple more places outside of Boise to understand other parts of Vietnamese food. Alright I’m done.

I’ve been going to Dong Khanh for over 15 years. The taste has always been exceptional. The prices are reasonable as well. Although the atmosphere isn’t stunning, the food sure makes up for it!
