I work down the street from these guys and had seen the menu, but not gone in. I’m glad I did. The little restaurant is called Hiral’s Patio. I went there for lunch on Monday and got the chicken masala with the regular spice level. Hiral serves up a big plate of food, enough that my 2.5 year old yummed down most of my leftovers for dinner. The spice was good and I’ll definitely be back to try other dishes!

Small neighborhood market with some of the charm associated with being a small neighborhood market. The catch here is the rotating daily specials they offer for takeout, now only Monday-Thursday as of this review. They announce the specials on their Facebook page every Saturday or Sunday(search for the actual name of the market: Jerry’s 27th Street Market). The owner is a Chicago native while his wife is Indian, so it’s primarily Indian cuisine with an occasional Italian Beef sandwich thrown in. Their Italian Beef came recommended by others, so I’ve paid them a few visits. I’m not one to turn to when it comes to Indian food, but I can say that I think the Italian Beef, while not on par with Portillos in case you’ve had them before, is better than the other options in the city I’ve had(Taste of Chicago, Uncle Giuseppes). The taste is decent and the large ciabatta roll it comes in holds up well to the au jus. $ 5 for the sandwich and add $.50 each for sweet peppers and giardiniera. I may revise the rating down the road if they start offering deep-dish pizzas like they’ve mentioned in the past. But so far the only Chicago cuisine I’ve seen is the Italian Beef.

I love this neighborhood store! Jerry and his wife and in-laws sure do know how to cook some great Indian food and Chicago style grub! They have an excellent beer selection as well!!! A must visit in the north end!
