$ 18 for a glass of wine!!! Never again! We learned the hard way as to why the prices are not listed for alcohol. Consider that lesson learned and I will never go back.

Why must we frequent fliers be subject to sub-par food at airports? Do we not deserve a decent burger? A chicken sandwich that isn’t rubbery? Greens that are fresh? I want this added to the Passenger’s bill of rights. Help me fellow travelers. Write your Congressperson and demand quality food at airports. Now! The Outpost Café is a sit down restaurant that has the standard fixings: burgers, chicken sandwiches, salads, etc. They have beer. They have booze. The problem I have is not with the offerings but their execution. The food and service and surroundings are just so irritatingly *meh*, so lukewarm, so flavorless, so catering to the captive audience, gulag like. It is located just before the security screening area, so once you’re finished with your meal you can waddle right over to get porno x-rayed so I guess that’s one star(for the convenience, not the exhibitionism you dirty birds). Another star for the power outlets available to charge up your electronic paraphernalia at the bar and also at the tables. No stars for food or service or atmosphere, maybe a checkmark for sustenance. When you have time to kill and you’re hungry before your flight at the Boise airport or if your flight is delayed, you might want to take advantage of the Outpost Café; then again you might not. At least you are forewarned. 009.13

I didn’t consume any food here, only drinks. Our server was super nice. She was so considered about our needs. She’s friendly and made the whole waiting time at the airport much tolerable. I will stop by here again when I’m at Boise Airport and have plenty o time to kill.

Initially I sat down to kill some time while I waited for my friends to arrive from their United flight from LAX. I didn’t have many options so I sat down at Outpost Café with my large check-in bag and my ski bag and got a glass of Pinot Grigio. Why not. Now I know the elevation of Boise is nothing extreme in fact it’s probably sea level but Google just said they are about ½ mile above sea level… maybe that’s why the wine hit me so hard?!? Probably because I’d neglected to eat my honey roasted peanuts and pretzels on my Southwest flight, lunch and breakfast. I ended up ordering the wings because I felt bad for just sitting there… I ordered another glass of wine and this one was a big girl glass and I had a hard time finishing it… almost. The wings were good but not as good as they were the day after. Yes, I had 8 leftover so I took them with me to McCall, reheated and served them with fresh celery sticks and their ranch and my friend and I thought we had the best wings ever. Seriously, they will be my Wingstop moving forward but unfortunately they are in Boise and I live in California. Not lovely.
