I had my haircut at Synergy twice. They are conveniently located for lunch visits, and I really wanted to find someone there. The first time was decent, though the stylist did not have a lot of experience or confidence. However, the haircut was good, and i was happy. I went back, but decided to shop around. The second stylist looked at my hair, and proceeded to bash stylist # 1, the haircut, et. cetera. I then got quite a lot of personal information about her(the stylist’s) parents divorce, some years back. Very awkward and unprofessional.

I went to Synergy with my mom to get our hair done. Since I was visiting from out of town, I wasn’t sure what to expect. I’m pretty relaxed when it came to my hair, so I told the stylist a few things I would like, and let her do what she thought would look best. The hair color turned out FABULOUS – dark and rich with good, subtle undertones. Love it. The cut is also good, though not anything overly complicated or stylized. The scalp and hand massages they give are great – I wish they lasted longer! I also like that, though they are clearly an Aveda salon, they didn’t put a lot of pressure on me to buy their products. The appointment did take quite a long time – we were there for nearly three hours. Another thing I didn’t love was getting my hair cut when dry. I understand why this can be a good thing(you can make sure the haircut you’re getting actually looks the way you want it to when dry), but I ended up picking hairs out of my clothes all day. Overall, this is a good, reasonably priced salon. I’m definitely going back(already made an appointment for my next visit to Boise), and I’d recommend to friends.

I went to Synergy for an all over dye, trim and an underarm wax. I was there for over 3 hours(keep in mind, the dye stays on your hair for only 20 minutes). My hair had to be dyed twice because the first time around, my roots didn’t quite get dark enough. I’ve had that happen before, so that didn’t upset me, it was more the attitude of the stylist. She said something along the lines of «I can change it if you think it needs it…», well considering my roots looked orange, of course I wanted it fixed. By the time my hair was done, it seemed ok in the lighting that they have(which is almost non-existent) but after getting out to my car in natural light, it was black, which wasn’t the dark brown I had wanted. The trim itself was just fine, which is why I gave 2 stars instead of 1, at least I didn’t have a hack job to top it off. As far as the underarm wax, they use a hard wax. My esthetician(who was the same girl) applied the wax 3 times and then resorted to plucking the rest of the hairs. This was only my third underarm wax, so once I have some more experience, I’ll know if that is normal, but it’s not usually that sore the next day.

New in town, and Aveda salons are usually pretty reliable, and this one is close to my house. Great experience! I went in for a much-needed pedicure, and was happy to see a very clean and nice salon. My tech was friendly, and the staff was too. I’ll be back.

I went here for a facial and had a good experience. Lisa, my esthetician, didn’t hold that bright light on my face and ask me «what I’m using» while making a little mou of distaste. She was friendly and soothing and gave me a great facial with Aveda products. I enjoyed that she explained the different products that she was using, and oh, the delicious smell of Aveda! My skin still feels smooth and plump(in a good way) the next day.
